Yup...that's the one I am moderating...and it's gonna be good and it's gonna be available for streaming after at KPFA.org. How do I plug our site....spell out the actual web address or be sure folks know to look for 'The Jethro Tull Fan Forum' vs similar named entities? Bernie, have a great time with the programme. Plug us as The Jethro Tull Forum at www.jethrotull.proboards.com - that should do the trick. Will catch up with it via their streaming facility. Cheers Bernie Graham

In scripting the show, i find I'm gonna have to go all meta to get the most out of the interview...I can only use about 5-10 minutes of Q/A related to the Aqualung 40th theme....the only way to work more in is to have the host ask me how it was to interview Ina and me answer, honestly, not so easy and then play more of the interview in that context. The song list, at present looks like this: Strange Avenues, Aqualung (live 2000), Mother Goose ( live 1999) a trio of songs to illustrate my Ian as singer/songwriter thesis:Lifes's a Long Song, Rocks on the Road, Lost in Crowds then one more off Aqualung proper, probably Wind-Up....so no My God, No Locomotive Breathe...and maybe, as a finale after I plug our site and divulge my secret handle, Steel Monkey as a sign off....It all has the feel of a college term paper...I have a plan, I'm doing it last minute and I'm sure I'll look back on it right away and see how it could have been better! I won't know till right before the show if I'm obligated to make it a precise hour or if it's okay if i fall a bit short or run a bit over.....I'm going to the host's home after work and we'll have from 5:30 till 8 to slap it together. A true labor of love.

Just spent the last one hour and twenty minutes listening to this - everything put on hold worth it and I loved it. Bernie the DJ and his smooth links to songs - excellent intro to Mother Goose and what a great version of MG too. Really interesting snippets from the interview with Ian and a great choice of songs to introduce the career - up to now - of the band and Ian. Also liked the background stories about our Steelie and some of his quotes on killing time and not rushing and then the wrap up with very thoughtful and thought making words from Ian about his health and gratitude for everything moved seamlessly into Wind Up You've got to listen to this Thanks a million B

Excellent Bernie. Great programme. One of the wonders of this day an age is the fact that with the web you can now listen on-line when friends do a project such as this without having to wait weeks until someone sends you a cassette copy.

And while we're on the subject, found this at radiotoday.co.ukIt would have to go a heck of a long way to outdo our "radiomonkey" US station hires Artificial Intelligent DJ
A radio station in San Antonio is taking computer playout automation to the next level by using a virtual assistant to host a radio show.
KROV has agreed to be the test station for what could be, says the man responsible for putting “Denise” on-air, the future of radio.
Denise is the nick-name for a computer program made by Guile Lindroth and Guile 3D Studios for use as an virtual assistant. But radio presenter Dominique Garcia has pursuaded the bosses at community station KROV to put her on the air.
He claims radio stations should entertain the idea of having the automated voice on-air to potentially save money normally paid to real-life presenters.
He blogged: “Would a human work an entire year straight, 24 hours a day 7 days a week for only $200? Clearly the answer is no. Would a human work 5 years straight, 24 hours a day 7 days a week for a one-time fee of only $200? It is easy to say absolutely not. Depending on the market and how much stations pay their on air talent, the money saved over the years easily adds up by not having to pay humans an annual salary.”
The software still needs to be told what to say but this can be done quicker and cheaper than hiring a full time jock, he says.
Denise will host her first radio show on Wednesday August 24, 2011 from 1pm till 4pm CST. You can listen online at krovfm.com to hear exactly how she does.

Congratulations to you Bernie, you know I love and respect you. Also a big thanks to a guy, David Gans, who, since 85, has been just as good a friend to Deadheads as David Rees has been to Tull fans. Likely my favorite part of the program was that which concerned Bernie specifically. Understandably, to most people, much of Ian's commentary plays right into the "he's an 66666666" camp, not that I care much what the world makes of them, a notion extant since A Passion Play, which while I lack the level of respect for that particular work that Bernie has, I knew the public perception at the time was, in a word, unfair. As to Elvis Costello and Lou Reed, and to a lesser extent NY, being mentioned in the same comparitive breath as Ian Anderson well... u done well, and my own particular methodology in the same seat may not have gone over too well, but it would have been honest on my part, as I'm sure it was on yours. But there again there literally is no one like IA that I could think to compare him too, I just bitterly look at people like those three and feel like they got alot more credit than they were/are entitled to, (and I think you know I am a pretty big fan of the electric Crazy Horse version of NY) while Ian Anderson has long since been a byword for many things having zero to do with music, with knowledge and respect of his output ending somewhere between 70 and 72, if indeed there is any respect at all. Their half assed smiles indeed. I would have come off as much too bitter and authoratative cuz thats what I am, at least on this subject. I of course took the opportunity to bring notice of this great event to Facebook. Probably I would take greater peace in Ian's perceptions of Paul were he to see him on this tour, not that I did, but though it is unlikely anyone on this board is any larger a Beatle freak, and I always take umbrage when John is given even an iota of credit above and beyond Paul, finally I have no favorite Beatle, considering them the most positive influence in my lifetime in a worldwide sense, the greatest force for good, and, omg, is that evident in Paul's performances and setlists on the current tour, in such fine fettle at 69. Including that band he has had together for some time, and a fine one they are. Here are some samples, admittedly not ace sound quality, from his recent Chicago show at Wrigley Field, with a set list that just improves every year, including some few Fabs tracks that he has never done. And closing with his performance in Red Square of Back in the USSR which trumps even Woodstock to me when you look in that crowd and see people who remember a very different time indeed. youtu.be/DzA2FDg5exM The Night Before youtu.be/Q9FrXpN3a5c I've Got A Feeling youtu.be/SVwGW2dqgy0 Golden Slumbers youtu.be/tw0kJf_15QE Back in the USSR Red Square In that I went off on a Paulie tangent, want to include one each from his 3 closest friends, in the case of John, likely someone who would rival even Linda as the person he loved most in this world, ditto John's feelings for Paul versus that of Yoko. Anyway yesterday morning a Deadhead Beatle friend of mine on Facebook posted this video of John and his Mind Games song that I did not recall having seen before and got me pretty choked up with the morning coffee youtu.be/8dHUfy_YBpsAnd if you have never heard George's last album, Brainwashed, I really must recommend it, feeling it ranks with his best work, All Things Must Pass youtu.be/UosKbxDrYDwand another from the same record, each of these I find so poignant knowing George recorded that whole record with certain knowledge of his imminent demise youtu.be/SBov2x9L3UQand if you think I'm going to leave out Ringo you're nuts, lovely song and tribute to his dear friend George, Never Without You youtu.be/LIQaPhaM5q8and the Fabs being Fab. Only wish they had left in the part of directly before they went on stage and George asks the assistant guy in delicious scouse, "Hey Shake, would ye grab me boot, and would ye ever grab us a cup of tea while you're over there, ta And when they come off and the 2 assistants are having some kind of row and John asks, "If you're gonna have a barney, could I hold yer coat." To those not versed in Beatles scouse, a barney is a fistfight. I love them too much and always will. youtu.be/treArxCNcus

From the latest edition of The Radio Times, dated 8-14 October 2011 MY PEOPLE Stuart Maconie
The fish-farming flautist
As a prog rock-mad kid of 12 or so, I'd spend long evenings with the NME and the lyric sheets of Jethro Tull albums. From such endeavours, I gleaned the idea that lan Anderson (Old Grey Whistle Test 40, Wednesday 10.00pm Radio 2) was not like other prog rock frontmen. He played the flute on one leg and looked a lot like a tramp. Indeed, one of his most famous works, Aqualung, was about a tramp and generally Anderson would eschew typical prog subjects like goblins and Vikings in favour of dark acerbic musings on adultery, religion, teddy boys and, yes, tramps. Years later when I met him he was just as I'd imagined: tack-sharp and savvy and a little imperious, just as you'd imagine from a man who is both a rock star and a salmon-farming mogulAnd on BBC Radio 2, Wednesday 12 October 2011 10.00 Old Grey Whistle Test 40 8/16. Bob Harris continues a 40th-anniversary celebration of the BBC's classic 1971-87 music TV show which he hosted during its 70s heyday. Tonight he discusses the old days with Chris Difford and Glenn Tilbrook of Sgueeze, who perform live, as do Thin Lizzy, who reminisce about former frontman Phil Lynott (1949-86) and their breakthrough success with the 1976 LP Jailbreak. Plus new session tracks from lan Anderson performing a Jethro Tull medley - and genre-straddling composer and guitarist Gordon Giltrap, who performs a new version of his 1978 chart hit Heartsongwww.bbc.co.uk/programmes/b0156pr7
