Hi Nonrabbit. The show i went was the 3.07 one in Udine, north of Italy. The first thing i can say is:great, like always. :-*Every time i'm in sort of state of ecstasy that prevents me to notice and completely understand what happens all around me!! Now very few notes. .Before the beginning of the show we have had a very pleasant and unexpected introduction, five songs gifted us by RAY WILSON,the last GENESIS singer, voice that i have always appreciated. And then,THEY!!Her Majesty Ian First(!)Started performing 7 songs from STAND UP album.A lot appreciated choice by the audience. Agreements very interesting. The song were slowed down and accelerated in order to be more suitable for Ian's voice. My last show before 3.07 one,was in December last year,in Bologna and i remember it was quite good. But me and my friends must say that Ian's voice was the big this show surprise.Improved a lot!His enthusiastic and motivated presence on the stage is,after all this time intact. He REALLY BELIEVES WHAT IS DOING,everybody can see that. What i'm sayng worth for the other artist, off course. Thanks to them we have been able to assist to one of the very best AQUALUNG and LOCOMOTIVE BREATH version ever.Who knows J.T also knows how many time they could have performed these pieces all over the years, and how difficult can be to improve them.Well, they've done it!!!Before the show, surprisingly(and suddenly)we could meet for few minutes "BIG BOY"DOANE PERRY in a very sports garments because of the warmth.A very nice person.Even Ian seemed to me slightly thinner then usual. The band is in a very good sha pe!!!Now i'm just waiting for the next date, the 27 Agust to meet them once again. Here in very few words what J.T make us happily to live one more time in this life. :)Bye Bye. (I apologize for my bad English).

Great review Chea and thanks too from me! I felt the same about Ian's voice when I heard it last year - he sang really well. The enthusiasm in his performance along with Barre and Doane made for an excellant show and I'm glad it's still the same. Lucky man seeing them again so soon

The enthusiasm in his performance along with Barre and Doane made for an excellant show and I'm glad it's still the same. Lucky man seeing them again so soon I saw Tull last summer at Jones Beach and I thought his singing was better than it's been in a long while. (And I'm a pretty harsh critic.) It was certainly much better than his singing at the NJPAC Center in November 2007, a show so bad, and a vocal performance so woeful, I didn't even bother trying to get tix for the show a few days later in NYC, and I very nearly wrote them off. The Jones Beach show, however, was a straight rock show -- no orchestral pieces, no covers versions of other seventies bands, no hot female violinists playing their own material with Tull as a backing band, no Griminelli's Lament, no abbreviated medleys with Ian singing only one line of the song, no string quartets playing cover versions of Heavy Horses with Ian piping in a few flute notes at the end -- just 100% Tull, the way a Tull show should be. Not that I didn't trust our fine, Italian friend's ears and Tull knowledge...but i had to see for myself...a quick trip to the Ministry shows gigs with EIGHT Stand Up songs leading the parade...wow...I think...I mean, the Catfish year had 6 Stand Up songs....and none of the eight are THAT obscure....but still pretty cool.....So now I can count on the magic 40 year pattern to continue, right? Most of Benefit next year? Passion Play 1n 2013? Baker Street Muse in 2015? Can't wait!

Thanks.I'm very glad my story you has been useful. :)About Ian's voice ,i must say several friends from Italian Forum Fans club agree ,was not only an impression of mine.Probably a bit of technology helps Him during the shows, but considering how long the tours are..... :-*Chea

Spread the word in the Italian Fans Forum as they will be very welcome to join us here. Can't speak Italian myself but I often have a look at the site. Maddog

Hi friends,as i anticipated some weeks ago, with some friends i went to see last this year J.T world Tour concert :'(I can't say more than i reported about the show in June at Udine. They played great,as usual.I only have found them a little bit tired(normal, off course, after months and months touring all over the world )When i say "tired a bit"i only mean about the movements on the stage.Perhaps was only an impression of mine. Band's sound was VERY good with a long Doane drum solo.Ian's voice, too.i've heard little problems singing "Heavy Horses"I believe isn't a good choice from Ian to insert this piece. It is a long and difficult song for him to perform in this moment.Great dear J.T.They never fail amazing me. ;)I' going to meet once again this year Ian in Buxton G.B the 17-09. I got an answer for Non Rabbit, that is always informed,we know. Wich ones will be te musicians in this forthcoming Ian solo Tour and, will they be playng only pieces taken from his solo albums? Thanks,Chea

As I said in a previous post I'm always amazed at the amount of concerts they do in a year with all the travelling involved I've checked on the ministry of information checklist about the solo tour but not much there yet.. www.ministry-of-information.co.uk/setlist/09.htmWill keep looking and don't forget the report on your next concert Enjoy! Gioia! ( I hope that is Italian for joy!!)

A few of us have mentioned the 'Solo' tour - Purplewishbone is going to Buxton on the 17th, Maddog is going to Yeovil on the 21st and I'm going to Lancaster next Saturday the 19th. Anybody else? According to an interview with IA in the latest Classic Rock, there will be no solo material as 'there isn't time'?, but there will be some Tull material never played live before , plus three new pieces, one of of which is very long

That all sounds good. All the concerts are too far away for me mind you even if it was Belfast (not that that's likely) it would still be a bit of a journey. Have a good time all! got my tickets for The Pavillion for next year "Oh no you haven't" "Oh Yes I have"

So Milwaukee tonight - if I'm making out the confusing layout on the official site Quote from the master on an interview in Milwaukee about the set - list ... Thinking of the tour, how do you go about selecting a set list?"When you come to do a set list, it’s a bit of a thankless task because you’re always going to find that you don’t really satisfy those members of the audience whose interest is in the obscure and remote – record company marketing executives refer to them as ‘core fanbase’. I affectionately refer to them as the train-spotters. But we have to remember that 90% of the audience is less committed and knowledgeable and for them you’ve got to try and hit a few bench-markers that are going to say" ‘This is the stuff you know, you’ll recognise this’ and then sitting that alongside material that’s new or something they’ve not heard before. You know that you’re going to upset the less committed fan who’ll complain that ‘they didn’t play any of their hits’. When pressed as to what those hits might actually be, he’ll spectacularly be unable to name any – because there weren’t, at least not in the sense of Kylie Minogue hits! Set lists are all about balance." see more pabsttheater.org/iananderson

Just spotted that there will be an IA christmas show in Exeter cathedral on the 22nd - they must have sneaked the date into the official site in the last couple of days. 'This will be his only Christmas show performed in the UK this year and will feature various Christmas and ecclesiastical songs, new material specially written for this tour, as well as several Jethro Tull classics. All proceeds from this event are going to Exeter Cathedral’s Third Millennium Campaign'Here's the site: exetertickets.purchase-tickets-online.co.uk/public/show.asp

Got in during the wee hours.....home for a little rest before heading to Modesto for the concert there. I attended the concert at The Grove Thursday night, and then was at the Wiltern Theatre last night. Was with my sister both nights. Both shows were highly memorable, for the before and after hours fun as well as for the performances themselves. I thought Ian was lively and the happiest I've seen him in a long time. His voice was strong on most songs, though some songs did tax him a bit vocally. He and Florian Opahle had quite a strong onstage connection. It seems like they get on well, and are well-suited to each other. Florian was amazing! I have wanted to see him for so long, and he didn't disappoint! I also quite liked the violist, Meena Bhasin. I thought she was an accomplished performer. But I also think she enjoyed playing with the boys...she was rocking pretty good there for two nights. The stand-in drummer, Mark...I forgot his last name....was really good as well. I am sooo tired! I will report more later if I get a chance before heading out of town. But! Thursday night after the show my sister and I got to talk to David Goodier, and Ian signed my t-shirt. First time ever I have talked to any of them..... Next night, we got to the venue early and went to find a bite to eat beforehand. It's not easy in downtown L.A. (in some areas) to find anyplace decent, so we ended up eating at a Denny's (diner chain) on the opposite corner of the block from the Wiltern. I go to the Ladies' to wash up...on the way back, my sister is making faces at me. At the counter waiting for a seat was Florian and three guys from the tour...sent with him to protect him, no doubt, as one guy glared me all the way back to my booth! I don't think he would have let us approach Florian, even though we hadn't intended to. His attitude was kind of funny. A bit over protective, but that's okay. We had a good laugh over that. Then, John O'Hara, David Goodier, and Mark ? walked in, went to talk to the other guys, then left. Then...Doane Perry and his wife came in! They did go sit and eat with the others. Later the Perry's had seats close to us in the theatre, and Doane was a surprise "guest" on a few numbers. Very fun. Afterward, we hid out in the car port watching down on the tour bus as Florian mingled with some straggling fans, and chatted with Doane. But the band was taking their time leaving, and we were getting tired. So we had to leave before they did. Got home at a quarter to 2:00.

But I was unsure of that as maybe some of my concert going pals wouldn't want to know the playlist - more or less - ahead of time. When we're all home, I bet we will all have something to say.
