My last issue was 82 but Id like to know why are some of the early covers different to copies i have in my possesion? Hi Steve and welcome to the Jethro Tull Forum. Our paths have certainly crossed in the past and I'll PM you later today. The reason the AND covers vary on the early editions is that Dave Rees re-printed many of the early ones due to demand. As far as I'm aware the ones I've scanned to the Forum are the original covers. As for high res images of boots try this site www.spacecoast-cdr.com/Jethro_Tull/Jethro_Tull.htmlMD

Cripes - just when you don't expect it, A New Day issue #102 thunders through the letter box. This issue includes a chat with Ian Anderson, conducted by Martin Webb, about TAAB2 (amongst other things), Martin Barre interviewed by Dave Rees and the tantalising promise that Dave is planning a follow-up to his book "Minstrels In The Gallery" for publication this year. Dave has now moved and his contact address for AND is: 76 Hyde Terrace Newcastle upon Tyne NE3 1AT

Mr Rees has just had a three hour chat with Ian which will be published in the next issue of AND.
Dave had a four hundred mile journey back home - hope he had a cup of tea and some sarnies from chez Tull Towers!!
Looking forward to the next issue !!!

Has anyone in the USA received AND issue 103 yet? I haven't, and I'm wondering if David might be waiting to send 103 and 104 together.

. . . . and continue it does. Having just re-read #103 for the third time, thundering through the letter box comes issue #104. This time around, AND contains part 2 of an interview with Ian Anderson, a review of Martin Barre at "The Borderline", an intersting "take" on the band at Perth with some rather fine images (see below for a sample) including the sight of a rather grey haired Jeffrey Hammond as the medical examiner in white coat (look out Tom, he's behind you), some book and cd reviews of interest to Tull fans some of which have already been featured here on the Forum (tut tut DR, must keep up at the back ;D) and some press reviews of TAAB2. Onwards and upwards to issue #105 perhaps? Thanks as always to Dave Rees, Martin Webb and all contributors to the magazine.

Message from Dave Rees enclosed with the latest AND magazine: At time of posting www.anewdayrecords.co.uk is mysteriously down. I have posted a new, simpler website at
www.anewdaymag.co.uk
where you can subscribe with PAYPAL and order back issues etc. Hopefully the old website will be up again by the time this reaches you but I think you'll find the new one much easier to use! DR

Message from Old Webby concerning the JETHRO TULL The A NEW DAY TAPES Vol 1 book Hi Graham If you have a spare moment you could update the forum with the news that the A New Day books have arrived (and are blocking the sunlight into my conservatory...) and are being despatched as from today. It's also now available on Amazon, or still via

Surely not coincidence that the TAAB one and two line-ups are in the same order by instrumentation....cool detail.
Martin's friend O'May is FAT.
So tell me, Maddog...should i pay the few bucks to download AND 105 on Kindle or would i mostly find stuff i already know and pictures i have already seen? I'll do as you say.

Oh I'd buy the magazine if only for Dave Rees' acerbic story of his attempts, in the end successful, to see IA and co in the Europe and for Patrick Rowbottom's review of the band in Quimper, France. Patrick of course being a member of Cold Flame and Forum member, as is of course Old Retired Webby (not of Cold Flame but Forum member - oh you know what I mean.)

Any word on whether those of us in the US are going to get issue 105 now, or will we have to wait for Mr. Rees to develop 106 so he can ship 2 at a time?

seems he puts the mag on Amazon for Kindle owners somewhat randomly...he'd already have my hard earned money for 105 and the interview book if i could get it the 2012 way, dammit.

wouldn't ya know it, as soon as I post, issue 105 comes thru the mail! A nice issue too, good pics, funny travel stories. Something jumped out at me, though--Dave mentioned there will be a DVD of the TAAB 1/2 tour. First I heard of it.

Something jumped out at me, though--Dave mentioned there will be a DVD of the TAAB 1/2 tour. First I heard of it. Good news about AND. The dvd is in the pipeline with footage shoot from the early part of the tour in June. From www.ministry-of-information.co.uk21/6/12, Harpa, Reykjavík, Iceland Eldborg main hall; 1,600 seats. Sold out within 7 mins of tickets going on sale; an extra show added for the following night. Thick As A Brick (entire) - [Interval] - Thick As A Brick 2 (entire) Interval included a prostate cancer awareness section. No encore. Filmed, apparently for TV broadcast; interview segments and a trip to a glacier were also filmed. I would have thought the above mentioned footage would form the basis for any dvd.

Cheers! These are just great. I'd love an A4 sized framed print for the wall near my desk. I'm sure others would too. Maybe there's a little earner in it for someone.

The interview compilation showed up on Amazon/Kindle and, of course, I purchased it...well, them...it seems the book was split in two volumes for 10 bucks each...not complaining, mind you, i have no problem sending money in the direction of AND...but just askin'....did i get the 'second volume' of the book, hot off the presses via kindle, or is it as it seems: the first book got cut in half and sold in two parts to kindle users?

The first interview in 'part two' of Volume one is Martin Allcock dated August 1990....the first 40 or so pages of part two are the exact same intros, cast of characters and pictures as the first 40 pages of part one......That's fine...if I'm gonna be skinned and stolen from, i can think of no worthier thieves than Rees/Webb....keep writing and interviewing boys, I've got some money left. It is worth noting that this is the first time I have ever, ever ever seen a book cut in tow and charged for twice on Kindle...not even the 1400 page opus, 'Infinite Jest' justified the pay twice for one book approach.

There are many pages of 'thanks' including a certain Graham Maissey...so 'fess up...did you tell them to cut it in half and charge for it twice on kindle ? Two emails from the AND head honchos. Hi Graham I've tried to post a reply to the comments on the forum but for some reason it's not working, so maybe you could do it for me? I tried to upload the whole book in one go, but as it has to be done in Word rather than pdf I had to reformat it all to enable me to insert pictures without losing original formatting. Possibly due to my feeble computer... but more likely my feeble computer skills... as the file got bigger and bigger formatting became a problem with pages disappearing whenever I moved or inserted a picture! I thought I had it nailed but after a couple of failed attempts to upload to Kindle (rejected due to "formatting problems")I gave up in the end and decided to go with 2 smaller files. I admit it is slightly confusing, splitting Volume One into two parts, but otherwise it might have taken another year to do cheers DR And from Old Webby. . . . . . Plus, just to state the obvious, the amazon advert does say "Volume One Part Two" - the words "Volume" and "Two" do not appear juxtaposed anywhere in the blurb... I trust that the comment about us being "thieves" was tongue in cheek... Absolutely no intention to mislead, and nor should anyone be misled if they read it properly. Martin
