My youngest loves Mr Tumble. He is a clown type funny man who incorporates a lot of mime and BSL into his act. He is Children's BBC a lot, in programmes such as Something Special.

Maybe Ian should try doing what Robbie Williams does with Angels and let the audience sing it for him To please Ian Anderson the audience would need to show up for practice. Play in time or else.

I wonder if the jeans neurotic tic has faded...was a time when ian couldn't get through an interview without criticizing '$h1tty jeans' and giving the impression that he would write you off out of hand if you were wearing levis at a gig or to meet him. At first it was just an lucid example he used to point out how much so-called non-conformists did, in fact conform...but then it took on a life of it's own and he described fantasies of dumping over the jeans table at the store in unmistakable christ vs moneylenders mode !

www.yorkpress.co.uk/leisure/music/9105311.Ian_Anderson__Grand_Opera_House__York__September_20/Ian Anderson, Grand Opera House, York, September 20 Friday 24th June 2011 After 43 years of leading Jethro Tull to 54 countries and selling 60 million albums worldwide, Ian Anderson is to embark on a 13-date acoustic tour that will arrive at the Grand Opera House, York, on September 20. “I’ve always wanted to go out in the UK with a small line-up, to play and to restructure the songs and music for a more intimate and personalised performance,” says Ian. “After many years of performing in this way for radio broadcasts in the USA, it seems like fun to bring this approach to the UK fans, old and new, and to make them feel like they are in my living room for an impromptu family concert.” He will be touring in a trio with German guitar virtuoso Florian Opahle and pianist, accordionist and percussionist John O’Hara, performing Tull acoustic classics, rare songs and other re-arranged Tull rock material. New pieces specially written for the tour will make an appearance and the audience can expect anecdotes and musical surprises too. Tickets cost £25 or £22.50 on 0844 847 2322 or grandoperahouseyork.org.uk And tonight flies a better moon.

If you're reading this Ian, any chance of Durham being added to the list. Say, 24th Dec. What a Christmas present that would make

Agree, a Durham Xmas concert would be great. I live about 20 mins walk away from the cathedral but would have to stop at the odd pub on the way to top up the Xmas cheer..

Rock legend Ian Anderson from Jethro Tull will be performing The Christmas Jethro Tull in Manchester Cathedral at 7.30 pm on Monday the 19th of December. There’s never been anything quite like this in the Cathedral before! Thanks to generous sponsorship, all proceeds will benefit the aims and objectives of the Manchester Cathedral Development Project. Ian says of the show, “Whether your Christmas is a secular affair of gift-giving and family togetherness or a more worshipful recognition of one of the two big days in the Christian calendar, join us for some uplifting Christmas spirit, music, readings and maybe even a prayer or two." The Dean of Manchester, The Very Reverend Rogers Govender said of the event, “We are delighted that Ian Anderson will be performing The Christmas Jethro Tull in Manchester in the run-up to Christmas. I am particularly pleased that all income derived from this event will go towards supporting the Cathedral mission, in particular our music education with choristers and our efforts to establish a new organ for this medieval church”. Tickets are available at www.musicglue.net/iananderson. Please note: the Cathedral will not be selling tickets for this event. www.manchestercathedral.org

I just got back from my journey from swansea to bristol to see Ian, it was a great gig especially hearing newer tunes like 'Adrift and Dumbfounded' or 'a change of horses'. I made a note of the setlist :
Boris Dancing Mother Goose Up To Me Set-Aside Overture (didn't recognise this one) Wond'ring Again Florian Ophale - Andantino Hare In The Wine Cup Bach's Prelude In C Major/Bouree (hah)
Interlude
Up The Pool The Hare Who Lost His Spectacles The Poet and the Painter sequence from TAAB Adrift and Dumbfounded A Change Of Horses Bach's Toccata and Fugue Budapest Aqualung Locomotive Breath
All in all a pretty good setlist with some surprises other than the mandatory loco breath etc. Good band energy and interplay, singing fairly ok. Very enjoyable overall

I saw Ian at The Stables Milton Keynes on Monday and yes I agreed it was a good set and a great night The Stables is a nice place and I would go back if Ian plays there again. I also went to the stage door after the gig and meet Ian for the first time and got my ticket signed . He played a new flute that night which is not silver. So being a flute player myself I had to ask him about it. He told me it's made by Guo and is made of a Composite material. I've held one of these a year or so ago and their very light which makes it ideal for players who experience RSI. I'm guessing that is why Ian has one.
