I've seen that cute picture of you when you had long hair and you do have a bit of the 'Eric Burdon' look about you. Can you sing as well? Just TULL songs but when I drank Boone's Farm Wild Mountain Grape I could sing anything!

Welcome to the 'other flautist' thread Ash - you'll be good at this. Thanks for opening the gate to the jazz/flute path - not that we'd forgotten Roland.

I deliberately avoided Herbie Mann cause I could never forgive that album cover nor erase the image On another note who'd a thought we'd like the flute so much

Some Herbie Mann covers were "what?", but the first record I heard from him was London Underground, not a bad cover, and it had quite a few catchy tunes on it. Used it to warm up to for decades. Though I don't have a silver flute these days, I seem to have shifted my focus and would consider buying either an Irish style flute or an alto. My ears ring around the 1000Hz point and the higher pitch of the concert C silver flute sets my early stage tinnitus off.

70's rare European prog anyone? This is a track from an album called Dragon released in 1976 (re-released 2010) by a Belgian band called Dragon. (starts off a bit 'Flying Dutchman') Flute player Georges Venaise Flute 5.12 ( for those proggers who's attention span has withered or needs retuning) I've been sitting here for the last hour nosing around rare European prog bands at the click of a button. You'd had to get a ferry across to the continent and scour record shops or write letters to prog enthusiasts in the olden days to get any info! God Bless the internet and all who click and post!!
