Now I know it's the Festive Season, and Santa is renowned for descending chimneys, but I have just found an article, and COPIED AND PASTED. It is on the Daily Telegraph website, and it is quite startling news. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- Matthew Butler, chief executive of the Canterbury Gift charity, said: “It is fantastic news that rock legend Ian Anderson is supporting Canterbury Cathedral in this way. “This concert will certainly be a ‘first’ for the Cathedral and we hope to draw in many new supporters from Kent and beyond.” Anderson, the folk rock innovator known for playing the flue while standing on one leg, added: “Canterbury Cathedral is a place for life today. But it is also a place for the future and, whether you are a Christian or not, it is a place which should remain forever close to our hearts.” www.telegraph.co.uk/news/newstopics/religion/8016766/Canterbury-Cathedral-to-host-gig-by-Jethro-Tull-singer.html

Glad to see this thread had legs.....even those off the ground!
I think Ian in Aqualung dress would have made a phenomenal Fagin.

;D ;D Re the Fiddlers On The Roof/Ian connection we had a chat here once I think Steel will remember when we suggested that Ian was influenced by Topol in Fiddlers and that there is a possibility that with the timing of the original show in the West End he might have seen it. Ps If he does read this Forum he surely must shake his head....and guffaw at us

The key being the spooky similarity between the aqualung riff and slowed down' if i were a rich man'...but the flue/flute switched typos are a pretty cool wink from the cosmos...they say Dick van Dyke didn't have much of a career till he changed his name from Penis van lesbian.
