I'm going orthodox for this tour...no visits to this forum, the official website or any other Tull related site online after June 7th, the night before opening night of the US tour...I'm gonna go to the june 14th concert in total set-list surprise mode...expect a lengthy, opinionated review soon after the concert. !!!!

Now my six year old wants to come...in 2008 she made it through the last note of an outdoor gig at red rocks...the 40 year tour...in 2008 she asked to go home at halftime of the ian solo show in SF ( you tube bit available showing her in the front row clappiong for 'march the mad scientist')...but it was okay...I saw the whole show the night before in modesto...So what to do this year? make her pinky promise to nap that PM and stay till the end or just hope for the best...it's another outdoor gig...or tell her 'NO' ??

You have to bring her. My best JT friend is bringing his daughter to red rocks next week (!!!) to see them for her 3rd time! The Tull legacy must go on. She is 23 years old though...

You're right ( about bringing my kid to Tull and, on another thread, about TAAB and APP being nothing less than revelations upon first hearings in the 'days of our youth')

Ah, the days of youth...never let them go. See them again in the eyes of your daughter when she realizes how great, and timeless, music like this really is.

When she was about 3 we heard 'Nothing is Easy' in a Burger King or something...a song she had never heard...her eyes lit up and she shouted 'Jethro Tull'. Made my day, if not my life....

Made my day, if not my life.... sweet and at the same time curious that your Burger Kings play Tull oh wait and also depressing - I was in Marks and Spencer and a toned down elevatorised version of "Don't fear the reaper" was playing in the background. I think there is place where these tapes are made and bought and sold to various shops etc. and sometimes they make mistakes - I mean you don't want that taped played in the funeral parlour. ;D I was in Boots the chemist and they played that horrible James Blunt "you're beautiful your beautiful" except they had the version with feck in it. Not what you expect to hear on a Saturday afternoon shop in family land ;D Three days till your "barring" yourself from the Forum Steel Have Fun at the show !!

It's always been a source of comfort and satisfaction that I took my late daughter (Gillian) to a Jethro Tull concert. She did enjoy seeing them, although she thought they were 'too loud'. She would taunt my other daughter (Helen) whenever they had an argument by saying "At least I've seen Jethro Tull, you haven't!". Despite all my Jethro Tull brainwashing Helen still isn't a Tull fan. Ah! well, I'll keep plugging away.

yeah...I tremble in fear of the day my kid brags about seeing Tull and her schoolmates and/or their parents 'correct' her.

I've had no luck with persuading my family to like Tull. Mrs Maddog likes This Was because it's blues so I suppose that's OK, but the younger members have, at the present time, not realised what great music it is. Given time I live in hope. The one bright star on the horizon is that my eldest granddaughter, being the statistician in the making that she is, has volunteered to catalogue my bootleg collection one day. I hope that the first boyfriend she brings home is a carpenter 'cos I'll get him to build the shelves as well.

Read more: www.independent.co.uk/arts-entertainment/music/reviews/wychwood-festival-cheltenham-racecourse-2293829.htmlWychwood Festival, Cheltenham Racecourse (Rated 4/ 5 ) Pulses race with the old favourites Reviewed by Pierre Perrone Tuesday, 7 June 2011 On the cold and wet Sunday, the Celtic contingent of Roddy Woomble and the radiant Eddi Reader lost out to near-local favourites The Wurzels, whose "ooh-ah-ooh-ah-ooh-ah" take on Kaiser Chiefs' "Ruby" made many smile. Jethro Tull mainman Ian Anderson rounded things off nicely with his witty banter and breathy flute solos as he revisited the best bits of the evergreen albums Aqualung and Thick As a Brick. Like the Tull repertoire, Wychwood is a festival that's built to last. Unearthly visitation

Three generations of Tull fans...how many bands can make that claim? I would love to see the bootleg collection...once the shelves are built.

Wow, that's a collection! I hope you have digitized and backed up. Is that you in the photo on the wall with Ian and Peggy?

I've got a fair proportion backed up onto memory sticks just in case of any problems at a later date Max. Yes the photo is of me backstage at Cropredy in 1989 when Sealion and I reported back to the "Headmaster" about the first UK Convention. The photo was taken by Sealion btw.

I'll be brief here with my first post concert post, ha. A rather short set, 1 hr 24 min, after about a 40 min set with Kansas who were pretty decent (never seen them before, the singer still has his pipes, I'll give them that.) Opened with TAAB where the sound was a little muddy, had trouble hearing Doan's snare and toms but that improved later. Next was Songs From the Wood, Farm on the Freeway (a pleasant surprise), Bouree and then Aqualung complete. End of show. Seemingly no encore but they did leave the stage briefly before Wind Up/Loco Breath finale. It may have been short but I feel I certainly got my moneys worth, especially My God. Martin was ON in that one tonight. I shot a few stills and vids with a brand new camera, I will post some in the next few days. Good night Tull world. They may be old, but damn they can still play!

My own review is a bit more lengthy, and it looks like a bit less thorough: Good morning from Lakewood (between Denver and Red Rocks Amphitheater @ Morrison). kansas were pretty good; JETHRO TULL were Bloody Magnificent! (Do they really belong in the same sentence?) i read somewhere that at a previous tour a few years ago Ian was in fine voice. Tonight, his voice was a lot smoother than i remember him sounding at the Broadsword and the Beast concert in Boulder or the Crest of a Knave concert in Denver. One of my show mates tonight commented that the whole band sounded much tighter than they had been when he had seen them at The Rainbow Music Hall (i remember that as the concert i missed; i was all set to go - thinking it was such a small venue i could buy a ticket at the door - then i got distracted by some small piece of business {sigh}. That was sometime in the '0-s). i am so happy that, 2 months from 64, our hero is really showing healthy once again. Let's all hope that he's feeling as well as he looks. (i do go on, don't i?) The weather held for them (and us), too; with a little cloud cover and strong breeze early in the evening. But when our Boys emerged, the sky cleared and the breeze calmed. kansas were on from 7:30 (MDT; is Britain in summertime yet? 2:30 a. m. for them, if so; 1:30 if not.) for about 75 minutes. The sun just began to dip behind the hills (behind the house) as Jethro Tull ambled out at about 9:00 (3a/4a) and launched into 100 minutes of pure bliss. They played (in no particular order) Thick, Bouree, Songs, and several other gems of the early years (before "A"). Did they play the entire Aqualung album? i just spent some time going through the track listing; yes, they did, although not in album order. Instead of ending with Wind Up, They ended with Locomotive Breath, including an additional riff at the end. So, Before Aqualung, they played an additional 57 minutes of material. Much to my chagrin, i'm failing to remember every number. Ah, well - what a night!
