Tull shows up in Calgary in June apparently. Do you think I should try getting a ticket 3 months in advance and not have to sit outside the theater to watch the lobby TV monitors with those excellent 2" speakers?
In an odd way it was interesting listening to "Thick as a Brick" live, while walking around the lobby 20 feet outside the theater, looking at the historical Alberta photos and stories of honorees, those who supported the arts and social projects through the decades. I can't imagine any of them actually connecting with an audience. Not putting them down in any way, but there's the practical matter of being an activist in the field of play vs being an administrator or stand-off supporter.
Why is the theater there..........................

The British band, led by vocalist and flute player Ian Anderson, is bringing its Aqualung 40th Anniversary Tour to the Jubilee Auditorium on June 22. Now, the British flute-rockers are gearing up to celebrate the 40th anniversary of their fourth and most popular album, Aqualung, with another trek. Singer, guitarist and flutist Ian Anderson and his prog-rock pals will perform Tuesday, June 21 at the Jubilee Auditorium. Tickets are $45.50, $59.50 and $79.50 plus service charges. On sale: Friday, Feb. 11 at Ticketmaster. Their seventh album, War Child, was released in 1974, so expect Jethro Tull to launch another world tour to celebrate its 40th anniversary in 2014. And a bearded lady said to me if you start your raving and your misbehaving you'll be sorry.

From www.nakedpanda.com.cy/index.php?page=events19/2/2011: Jethro Tull’s Ian Anderson, Live in Cyprus
Having travelled around the Mediterranean countries over the years and having played so many concerts in so many wonderful, historical and magical venues, it is with some excitement that I find I can visit Cyprus for the first time and bring my music to its people.
I will play a variety of Tull classics as well as some new and less-familiar material. Some acoustic, most electric. With a band of battle-scarred musicians with whom I have been working for many years, we shall endeavour to paint the big picture of Ian Anderson and Jethro Tull's eclectic music and the band and crew all hope to find a little time to explore some of the island with its unique culture and history. Time to experience the local food, wine, music and song. And try to find the best internet connection.
And Indian curry house... Let's keep things practical, here. I'm a terrible tourist. I'm the man with the sun-burned ears, the too-short shorts and the sandals with the socks underneath.
Ian Anderson.

The flyer is quite Japanese methinks - should make a good t shirt.

Dear Ian Anderson. Please bring back Andy Giddings to play on your solo stuff. Mind you, while your are at it bring him back into J.T. Is it me or does the opening to In The Grip of Stronger Stuff sound crap on the recent you tube posting?

Skating away on the thin ice of having actually secured a concert ticket for Tull in Calgary in June. I tried going to the concert and standing in the lobby, now for INSIDE the theatre during the performance! This is going to be a wild experience. Crickey!

I just got tickets to the Red Rocks show on June 8th. I am in Utah. This will be the second time I have seen Tull at the Red Rocks. It is a great venue. On a side note Kansas will be performing the same night as Tull, I am also a Kansas fan so this will be a great evening for me. This will mark the 19th time I have seen Tull.
I have a fife and a drum to play.

Starting to worry..promised to fly to Seattle on June 18th for three day visit to sister who will force me to see nascent gay* ( musicals, ballet, drag) nephew's play on the 19th...if I do the noon play i can make vancouver gig that night..leaving daughter behind cuz now passports are needed to go to Canada and back for a few hours. best case scenario will be a gig i can manage on june 14 or 15...16 and 17 are already booked in too far Oregon...I need a Bay Area or reasonable facsimile thereof (Sacto, Sta Cruz, Stockton, Modesto)on exactly june 14 or 15 or I miss a second tour in a row ( unless I bully the vancouver gig in the midst of a family vacation) ....i actually check the official site more than our forum these days...maybe I should just google around for gigs not yet on Tull site...yeah...right away.
*not a bad thing, mind you...he's a lovely kid
