Living In The Past was an American fanzine published from 1991 and it appears to have begun as a co-production between Lee Berard in the USA and Laura Grisi in Scotland. Its "mission statement", taken from a much later edition was "LITP is an outlet for those who are inspired by Jethro tull to express their own creativity direcly related to topics touched upon in the archives of this enduring band." Full of fans articles, drawings and photos, some of which were taken by Martin Webb and a friend of mine Adrian Tyte, it was a good companion to A New Day. I've got fourteen editions and I'll post the covers here over the next few days/weeks (depending on work schedule) but any further information on the magazine would be appreciated. The first four editions from early 1991 to 1992 (issue not dated).

The power of the internet is far reaching. I had a reply to an email I sent to Laura Grisi, and yesterday she replied and this is part of what she wrote: Re LITP ...afraid I've lost track after issue 23 or thereabouts, I believe Dennis Landau was still the editor at the end of 1999 but don't quote me on that; somewhere along the line we lost touch, letters got lost, email still in its infancy etc. The idea behind the mag was to produce an alternative to the already established,"official" Tull mag AND. It was a crazy but very exciting concept - a fanzine literally "by the fans for the fans", contributions coming from every part of the globe and two editors living on opposite sides of the Atlantic - but it worked! The logistic were a nightmare; the contents of each issue - editorials, articles, photos etc. - were posted to America to be printed, collated and flown back to the U.K. for distribution; this being pre- cyber space communication also meant very expensive long transatlantic phone calls to update editorials, tour dates etc. But it was worth it! The Headmaster himself gave his approval after viewing the first issue; he made it clear that AND would continue to be the unofficially "official" Tull fanzine but wished LITP the best of luck. And I think he winked his eye.Issues #21 & #23

Now I'm thoroughly mixed up..having a convoluted memory of seeing or even having an LITP or three BEFORE 1991....I thought they fell to me in about 86 or 87 from a Sacramento fan named Bob Kinzler who died in a car crash, sadly.....maybe there was some other, tinier 'zine type LITP or maybe the results of the long-term effects on opiates and cannibis on memory are trickling in. A bunch of us west coast fans, drawn to my post office box by the Tull Museum cards first printed in 84, met for a 'Thankful for Tull' thanksgiving party in 86 or 87...and shared Tull things...that's when i think I saw LITP.......hmmmmmm.....

You're probably quite correct in stating that there were Tull inspired fanmags earlier as my recollection is of being told of at least one short lived effort here in the UK around '83 to '84. Didn't last long and it was definately pre AND.
