Here's a photo that was sent to me by a friend of mine in Italy. It was taken at the Itullians convention 18th Oct. 2008, he reckons it's the greatest reunion of Tull members past and present since the 25th anniversary. What do you think?

"Did my tour, did my duty. I did all they asked of me" "Long generations from the Isles sent to tread the foreign miles where the spiral ages meet" i52.images obliterated by tinypic/2885v91.jpg[/IMG] This is a treasured picture of my grandfather - on the left - who fought in WW1. He joined the Argyle and Sutherland Highlander regiment and lied about his age saying he was older. The picture was a "postcard picture" taken in a small village in France. The other two boys died shortly after it was taken and my grandfather carried the picture in the breast pocket of his jacket -which you can see in the picture, this also explains the condition of it as well. He never recovered from his injuries and was unable to work for the rest of his days.

Thanks R Tullist I thought you would appreciate the importance of the pic in historical and family terms. Like any picture it tells a few stories.
These young lads especially in WW1 had no idea what they were getting into to. My grandfather died the year before I was born however my grandmother said he never uttered a word about what he experienced in the trenches. I'm writing a story just now about that day in France/ Belgium? up to the point where the picture is taken and he has his arm around his friend.
I think that I can get the pic restored to iron out the tears and creases without it being harmed?

They shall grow not old, as we that are left grow old: Age shall not weary them, nor the years condemn. At the going down of the sun and in the morning We will remember them

Nonrabbit, I have done old photo restoration before and copied that to see just how difficult it would be to clean up, to get rid of much of those lines. Some of the photo is fairly easy to fix, but there are few large areas of damage I wouldn't know what to do with, it would come out looking quite phony if I tried to copy in other areas to fix that.

Thank you Futureshock - the condition of it is in a way a reminder of all that it saw. I posted it on one of those WW1 sites in the vain hope that someone might recognise the two other soldiers.

I really should have mentioned towards the end of that last bit those who are lockstep with the Mexicans in this latest condemnation and that is of course the Muslims. The simple fact that it happened in Vienna, one of the most cultured cities in the world, when it came under Nazi rule means it absolutely, without question can happen anywhere, San Francisco for instance, unthinkable I know, but history says otherwise. A huge part of those who will be objectified this time is directly relative to a fact that does not get near enough airplay, simply, that we are at 7 billion now making a beeline for 15 billion, easily within your children's lifetime. 20 per cent of this world is starving, and believe me, u will do anything to sustain your life. Therefore we have incidences like what is going on in Moscow now where the Fascists are out on the streets giving horrific beatings to people of color, and sometimes until these fellow humans have breathed their last, under the notion of keeping Russia Russian. Do people really thing we are any different from the Russians, or the German people in Germany in the 30's when that evil gained traction piece by piece? U gotta speak up and speak up loud, cause believe me eventually they will be able to shut up all but the bravest and smartest and shut u up good. I still pity that average Joe who made the first attempt on Hitler, I believe before the war, one that should have worked, but Hitler showed up 20 minutes late, and this Joe got caught on the last god damn train stop in Germany, an immeasurable hero, actually kept alive til near the end of the war for some kind of propaganda purposes, when many, like the White Rose students, were beheaded with expediency. (The Germans actually did use the guillotine after an utterly humiliating trial against many of their political prisoners) heros of a profound caliber. Am I too paranoid, possibly, I hope so. But history and to some extent Jethro Tull have taught me to do so. Do know that for all its profound flaws and bloody history I still consider the United States the greatest experiment in the history of humankind, but experiments often fail and this is still a nascent one, with crimes spanning the globe if people looked hard enough. The still most profound image I have seen from those camps, may have mentioned it before, is a Mother, hand in hand with her 2 and 4 year olds, somehow dressed in what seemed to be their Sunday best after getting off the cattle car train, picture taken from behind them, heading for their showers at Auchwitz. You cannot just pay lip service to never again, and you have to seek out real news or I swear they have you where they want you. And where on earth are all those songs of Eden?
