Hair-gel-obsessed mamma's boys in blue leotards can stay in Russia, sweeping out the hallways of the Russian Ballet. Not Canadian. Definitely not Canadian! Nyet Nyet, Soviet!

Anyone else ever so slightly concerned that there appears to be some kind of conspiracy concerning financial institutions at the moment? Although I don't bank with either Nat West or Barclays over here in the UK, my bank (HSBC) seems to have a few problems which in my case centered around a purchase I made recently. Hopefully it will be resolved in the next week or two but are they not telling us something? Is it greed by the people concerned or is it that the "fat cats" in the City of London are living the life of luxury at the expense of their customers. Banker Bets, Banker Wins ??

Wins right enough !! according to the news one of them is up for a fat bonus as well as having to resign - what other profession would you see it? ...wait a minute

I loved the Tull manager Kenny Wylie in the waybacks, but on the left there you are seeing the guy I wish had been their security then or now. Several people I would like to have seen that guy apply swift justice to, often a beligerent clown sitting right next to me.

Bernie, cool post. Not a problem; “Ian and the janitor is Tull for me..." Ian Anderson is Jethro Tull, I must agree. Genius lyrics kept my Tull attention for the most part.

Lessons For Europe: Why Iceland Bounced Back So Fast Read more: www.worldcrunch.com/lessons-europe-why-iceland-bounced-back-so-fast/5810REYKJAVIK - What kind of a crisis can you neither see nor smell, touch nor taste? Here, in fact, the hotels are booked solid, cafes are full, the stores full of merchandise, although a visitor may be surprised that an Icelandic tomato costs twice as much as an imported Italian one. The new opera and concert venue called the Harpa in Reykjavik, which cost 170 million euros to build, is featuring Jethro Tull, with its iconic lead singer Ian Anderson performing "Thick As A Brick" in its entirety. The big 1,800-seat hall is completely sold out even with tickets costing between 50 and 60 euros each.

My hovercraft is full of eels: "Ian Anderson, British musician, songwriter and frontman for the famous rock group Jethro Tull, today visited the Festival in Karlovy Vary. So a little undercover stayed half an hour in Drahovice where he toured the life-size statue located in the garden of his great admirer, Zdenka Kvasnièky. The statue, the work of artistic blacksmith Mìchury from Nejdku, Václav here since May."

I connect no song more firmly with 1972 than that one, (something like TAAB I never stopped listening to, so, like the Beatles and others I don't necessarily connect their music with a specific year)which is not necessarily a good thing, the other one would be some tripe by Gilbert O Sullivan. I remember it so well because 1972 was a year I had several psychedelic experiences. I really must put the stick to America as the openers last year, glad I had a very old friend with me who was able to confirm that there was some sort of weird Scientology energy about them, some perpetually mellow disease. And my goodness if that was my last "Tull" show, (nearly everyone save IA is seeming to refer to the current aggregation as Tull, ummm, it isn't)they delivered the goods to a higher degree than I expected, though I am never exactly surprised, my close and old friend, was blown away and engaged start to finish, first saw them together in 72. In fact that may have been their last USA show, if so, a true honor to have seen it. I would guess that it is a well less than even shot that it was the last show, presuming everyone stays alive and stuff like that. I can make the same claim for the last performances of Grateful Dead keyboardist Brent Mydland in 90 and Jerry Garcia in 95, both in Chicago, Brent dead 2 days later, Jerry about a month. I can see the Neil Young comparison, never been drawn to his folkie stuff much, while also not openly disliking it. Crazy Horse though, another beast altogether. Another track that fooled me a little from that year I think was one from Traffic, must have been off Low Spark, that my highly skilled Beatle ears thought sounded alot like John, it was a song which Winwood did not sing called Rock and Roll stew.

Completely classic Python, absolutely transcends the years, one of their very best. Cats are indeed on the upgrade. Glad they have not forgot minutae like that in the current performance. Hipgrave? (Who apparently was some guy they knew)

Another one bites the dustFrom www.bbc.co.ukBrighton's Rounder Records set to close after 46 yearsBy Sue Nicholson Brighton is renowned for its lively music scene, record labels and venues, so it comes as a bitter blow that an independent record store is preparing to close after 46 years. Despite trading from the same premises in Brighton Square for nearly five decades, Rounder Records says it had been losing money for the last four years and can no longer continue its battle against illegal downloaders, big online retailers and the recession. It will close its doors on 29 July "because we can't make it add up any more", said its owner of the past 12 years, Phil Barton. The shop is well known in the city for its part in the local music community, from supporting local bands and stocking their first releases, to selling tickets for all their gigs. One for Bernie and our Californian members: www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-us-canada-18824114Goats ride the waves in CaliforniaDana McGregor (L) said he likes surfing, so he thought his goats would too Beachgoers in California have been treated to the unusual sight of two goats surfing the waves. Goatee the nanny goat and her kid billy Pismo stood on surfboards and glided along the water at San Onofre State Beach in Orange County. Their owner, Dana McGregor, initially got Goatee in to eat unwanted foliage on his property but soon started taking her out on his surfing trips. When baby Pismo was born in March, he started putting him on the board too. On Wednesday, he teamed up with local surfers Mark and Debbie Gale to try to get both goats to ride on one surfboard together. They managed to stay upright for a few waves, by which time Goatee had had enough and swam to shore. Pismo kept his balance and "seemed a natural" on the board, reporters said. "They did a pretty good job. They caught the first wave and it was pretty good," said Mr McGregor. "I love surfing so I figured the goats would like surfing." Goatee and Pismo held on to ride a few waves together
