In Denmark we have this great handball coach... His name is Ulrik Wilbek. He won a lot of tournaments... a lot of gold medals, together with the teams that he so brilliantly coached for... He once said that of course it's good that the players did well two years ago, but the big and important question is not if they did well two years ago, but if they were able to do the same now... If these players didn't live up to there former glory during training, he would replace them... I guess that it's the same with these old bands that we out of nostalgia can see once in a while... I know that there are very different opinions on this matter, but to me Ian simply isn't up to it anymore... It's nice to see that he's still alive and kicking, but it's not the same... nice to see old friends taking the stage, but the spark has gone long ago... Because I feel this way about his voice, because it's mainly his voice that's destroying it for me, I have decided to listen to someone else... I will not out of loyalty go to another Jethro Tull concert... It's in the past for me... I still love Jethro Tull, but it's painful to watch Ian trying to sing... There are other clouds to visit... No one who feels this way should spend money on tickets to any concert. I try to respect others opinions until they actually go to see a concert just to whine about things they don't like. Since 1980 I've heard the same criticism about Ian's voice including the album which won a Grammy.
Every year since when he performed onstage and people got more annoyed that he could not sing to their expectations. Now it's 2019 and of course Ian has good nights and bad nights depending on the weather and being human. To anyone that does not wish to endure future TULL Concerts I would say it's your decision.
I never go to any TULL or any other concert based on LOYALTY. It is based on what I hear, see, and enjoy. Some shows were SOLD OUT while others were less in total attendance. That is based on demographics and location. Is Jethro Tull more popular today than in 1973 ? In some ways YES. Even with expensive tickets they still SELL OUT ! Is this based on loyalty or nostalgia ? Who knows or really cares ... NOT ME
One thing I've enjoyed the most is getting the opportunity to meet many of the musicians over the years. This includes the TULL CREW which makes everything we see and hear a REALITY. Being with these guys is FUN
So for anyone that does not feel the same and wants only to remember 'The Good Ole Days'... FINE. I get more pleasure than anyone could imagine knowing that there is MORE to COME... LET's ROCK !!!

There's 50 years of musical history to choose from. Various stages (and musicians) in the vast catalogue of Tull. I respect and agree with both opinions.

To be fair. Thick As A brick 2, and Homo Erraticus are exelent albums from Ian and "The Newcommers"... but still... not as exelent as what he produced in the 1970'ties... And Jim... I know you love the new stuff really much, and that it's comming from the heart... I think that's great! Personaly I went to the last two concerts because I like Ian and the band members, not because I enjoyed being there... Well, some of it I did enjoy, but the singing? So, Im not saying that anyone here are wrong in doing what they want to do... I just feel differently about it...

If things are not the way you prefer it makes no sense to see any band out of loyalty.
I felt the same about this as I did in 1973, which also included many criticisms about "A Passion Play". When I spent $5.00 per ticket for that show, I began to realize how some bands were really expensive to see. Never the less, I endured a very confusing but surreal performance which took me several months to understand.
2 years later I saw "War Child" LIVE with a whole new perspective... and every year since. What I feel is very personal and when others begin to insult or use childish words about the GREATEST Band EVER , it sounds like being back in 70's all over.... They were called "JETHRO DULL" back then. Especially after Ian cut his hair...
Now is the most important time to be a TULL Fan but people always have a right to disagree. I can always listen to every LIVE or studio album and hear changes of time and style. You are not like some of the temporary members which seem to have no real internet address. If Ian comes to Denmark in the future, just let me know when and where

Handy tips for the garden, part 35Q. I hope you will have an answer about what has happened to my coreopsis. I had two 10-inch-tall Jethro Tull coreopsis plants in a flower garden in my front yard, and was happy to see they were beginning to bloom when I cleaned out the weeds and some dried-up daffodil leaves last Tuesday. By Thursday afternoon, the coreopsis blooms were gone and the stems were covered with tiny, brown, oval-shaped bugs I have never seen before. These bugs were all over the stems and leaves! I have had flowers in my yard for several years with no problems. Have you ever heard of this? I am afraid to plant anything in this garden now, for fear that they will be infested as these flowers were. V.G., Lynchburg
A. An insect called coreopsis leaf beetle is probably what devoured your Jethro Tulls. With its limited range of host plants, there is little chance of coreopsis leaf beetle attacking any of your other flowers. link

To be fair, long before music critics starting calling them 'Jethro Dull', they acquired that nickname for being immune to charms of groupies and not up to snuff in the post gig party Olympics.

Now this what I call a super fan Now if only someone with influence could set up a PERMANENT Tull museum, without the irritating inconvenience of the trolls and time wasters ad nauseam, I would happily donate my collection when I pop my clogs. Black Sabbath super fan's living room rebuilt in museum
A Black Sabbath super fan has had his living room rebuilt at a museum as part of an exhibition celebrating 50 years of the band.
Stephen Knowles said his room was his own mini museum to Sabbath.
It is part of a number of pieces at Birmingham Museum and Art Gallery in the first of a series of shows celebrating the history of Heavy Metal. Link

Following in the wake of all the reality shows on TV, I propose we pitch the idea of "Jethro Tull Island" where some of us could sit around on a desert island, some in ill fitting swim wear and others in our wheel chairs with attendant walking frame and district nurse, and we could talk for hours about the band and reminisce about the concerts we've been to etc. Nearby "facilities" would be provided and for some of us would have to be close at hand, as would a high class beach cafe and bar - alcohol would be a prerequisite and taken for granted.

My trusty old PC of over 14 years (windows XP) which I've only been using as a word processor recently, has finally bitten the dust and gone to meet its maker. Can anyone here recommend a reliable programme that will size images and then allow me to print them off accurately, as I've found the programmes with Windows are a bit duff. Any help would be appreciated.

A TRUE TULL Fan Most folks know our band for J.D.’s nonconventional instrument, the flute. Not everybody knows that it was the first instrument he learned to play, starting when he picked up his sister’s fife. He fell in love with Jethro Tull’s music, and the rest is history.
