Did I see Free? Hell yes, I saw Free...my first concert ever,,,A triple bill in a Denver cow shed. First John Martyn, then Free, then 'Low Spark' tour Traffic. I must have been about 14 or 15. Pot was smoked, the rolling papers were colored/flavored (orange? Mango?), curfew was missed, school the next day was shaky, life was GOOOOD. Love Low Spark...

k106fm.com/rock-lounge/rock-news/2014/10/nominees-2015-rock-hall-announced/Nominees for the 2015 Rock Hall have been announced Published On October 9, 2014 | By Rob Jenkins | Rock News It’s that time of year again. Who should be lucky enough to get into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame next year? Well, here are your choices…Green Day, Nine Inch Nails, N.W.A., Sting, The Smiths, Lou Reed, Paul Butterfield Blues Band, Stevie Ray Vaughan, Chic, The Spinners, The Marvelettes, Kraftwerk, Joan Jett & The Blackhearts, War, and Bill Withers. I know, it’s an interesting list to choose from right? Fans can again vote this year at rollingstone.com until December 9th. A strong argument can be made that a few of these artists don’t belong on the ballot. Especially when you consider these bands have yet to make it into the hall. 1. J Geils Band 2. The Guess Who 3. Deep Purple 4. Jethro Tull 5. Judas Priest 6. Iron Maiden 7. Yes 8. Steve Miller Band 9. Bon Jovi 10. Def Leppard 11. The Cars 12. Cheap Trick 13. Steppenwolf 14. Journey 15. Dire Straits 16. Supertramp 17. Boston 18. Bad Company 19. Styx While I do like a few of the contenders, my vote goes to Stevie Ray Vaughan.

Five Bands That Must Go Into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame Posted: 10/10/2014 10:24 am EDT Updated: 1 hour ago www.huffingtonpost.com/mark-carpowich/five-bands-that-must-go-into-the-rock-and-roll_b_5963752.html?utm_hp_ref=entertainment&ir=EntertainmentThe nominees for induction into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame have been announced, and as always there is just as much noise about who made the list as there is about who didn't. (Hey, cantankerous prog-rock fans: in the words of Regina George, stop trying to make Jethro Tull happen. It isn't going to happen.) But rather than complain about the also-rans who will have to wait another year, it might make more sense to consider those whose names were called on Thursday morning.

Walking Dead Week: Andrew Lincoln on Playing Rick Grimes and What to Expect from Season Five Family Man Oct 10, 2014 By Matt Fink Web Exclusive www.undertheradarmag.com/interviews/walking_dead_week_andrew_lincoln_on_playing_rick_grimes_and_what_to_expect_/It must be difficult, because I assume you can't even tell your friends and family about what's going on with the show, can you? No. It's so funny you say that, because my father-in-law [Jethro Tull's Ian Anderson] was in Atlanta. He's a musician and he was playing last night, in fact. And I came back from work, after a very long day, looking a little bit different. And he was like, "What?" Because he watches the show and he loves it, and he was like, "Tell me!" and he gives me a list of names. And I said, "I'm not telling you!" He says, "It's unbearable." But it has become more and more top secret. I even fear somebody is listening in on this phone call as we speak, and not my publicist. [Laughs]

Allman Brothers, Jethro Tull’s Ian Anderson and Other 64+-Year-old Touring Rockers Are Saying Bye, Beer Buckets -- Hello, Yogurt Tubs! - By Phil Gallo | October 15, 2014 4:40 PM EDT www.billboard.com/photos/6281716/allman-brothers-jethro-tull-ian-anderson-chicago-grand-funk-railroad-the-zombies-touring-life-then-and-now?i=533729www.billboard.com/photos/6281716/allman-brothers-jethro-tull-ian-anderson-chicago-grand-funk-railroad-the-zombies-touring-life-then-and-now?i=533721Ian Anderson of Jethro Tull Age: 67 Touring Since: 1967 Then: Few acts stuck to schedules as excruciating as Jethro Tull in its arena-touring heyday. The 1972 North American tour for Thick as a Brick, Tull's first No. 1 album on the Billboard 200, featured 31 concerts in 31 days during April and May, and 29 shows in 29 days during June and July. Now: Anderson will play 38 shows in the U.S. between Sept. 12 and Nov. 10 in support of his latest album, Homo Erraticus, before heading to Europe. "Alzheimer's is not an option when you do what I do," says Anderson. "I got rid of a tour manager when the Internet made researching flights and hotels reasonable."

A google translation Ian Anderson of Jethro Tull leader in jury to "The 48 Hour Film Project Rome 2014"The international competition for filmmakers in Rome from November 20 7al LINKof com / ONP - October 2, 2014 17:55 source ilVelino / AGV NEWS Ian Anderson, voice and leader of Jethro Tull, will be on the jury at The 48 Hours Film Project Rome to choose the best original soundtrack of the many short films that will participate in the international competition for filmmakers and that annually takes place in over 100 cities across the world. Rome is currently the only Italian date. From writing to the choice of costumes, from shooting to editing to the creation of the music, the young Italian will have only 48 hours to make a short film that could allow them to participate in the World Cup final in the States. The 2014 edition of the 48 Hour Film Project Rome is curated by Le Bestevem, the cultural association of the women committed to promoting and supporting the arts in all its forms, which this year offers a number of interesting new features: the presence on the jury of an artist of the caliber of Ian Anderson, the partnership with the IED and the Nuovo Cinema Aquila which will host the awards ceremony on 20 November. The 48 Hour Film Project Rome, now in its eighth edition, this year has also obtained the patronage of the Culture, Creativity and Artistic Promotion of Roma Capitale and will take place the weekend of November 9 7al at the headquarters in Via Alcamo of 'Istituto Europeo di Design in Rome.

The Province>Blogs >Sports>Hockey>The White Towel The White Towel RSS Feed The Morning Skate, Oct. 17: blogs.theprovince.com/2014/10/17/the-morning-skate-oct-17-not-another-canucks-game-when-will-they-ever-get-a-rest/The Small Screen The Walking Dead has been making steady progress, since its sensational first season, from being a cult show “watched by weirdos” (paraphrasing my wife) to TV’s most powerful series in the key 18-49 demographic. It’s so successful that Sunday’s premiere was the biggest thing on TV that night, bigger than Sunday Night Football and the National League Championship Series. Last winter it topped the Sochi Olympics on three consecutive Sundays. Series star Andrew Lincoln was asked, incidentally, if his children watch the show. They are young kids; Lincoln only got married, in 2006, to the daughter of Jethro Tull lead singer Ian Anderson. Imagine this being your father-in-law: Anyway, the children should definitely not be watching, and Lincoln agrees. “I’m not sure I want them to see their daddy like that.” Right. Couldn’t agree more.

Top 3 Concerts: Puddles Pity Party, Ian Anderson, Pork DukeslinkIAN ANDERSON Ian Anderson has been the voice of British prog-rock band Jethro Tull for nearly 50 years, producing 45 albums (including live and compilation discs), more than a third of which have gone gold or platinum. He sang such iconic songs as "Aqualung," "Bungle in the Jungle" and "Living in the Past." As Anderson, at 67, moves toward the end of his career, he says he wants people to identify him with the new music he makes, and so has struck out on a solo career. His new disc, "Homo Erraticus," is his sixth, and he says he foresees no more records under the Jethro Tull name. Read an interview with Anderson in the Saturday LIFE section. 8 p.m. Oct. 26, Sands Bethlehem Event Center, Sands Casino Resort. Tickets: $49.50-$75.50. www.ticketmaster.com, 800-745-3000. Read more/see more www.theguardian.com/music/2014/oct/22/stairway-to-heaven-unreleased-mix-led-zeppelin-iv-remasteredStairway to Heaven: the story of a song and its legacy (and hear an unreleased mix) Led Zeppelin’s Stairway to Heaven continues to prop up best-ever lists. But what made it great? Jimmy Page and some of the song’s admirers explain its magic Every major rock band of the early 70s had their own equivalent of Stairway, their own big, meaningful statement: Deep Purple’s Child in Time, Jethro Tull’s Aqualung, Genesis’s Supper’s Ready. All still have plenty of admirers, but only Stairway is known to everyone who listens to rock music. Partly that’s because Zeppelin were never tied to genre in the way so many hard rock or prog groups were, which meant they continued to be a presence on radio on both sides of the Atlantic. Partly it’s because its status has become self-perpetuating: greatest-ever lists tend to ossify around a canon, and that’s certainly happened here. However, given that so many critics despise the song, it’s important to note that Stairway’s status in these polls is usually the result of public affection, which means the song continues to touch and move people, and that – as Page points out – “it still has an emotional effect on people who are are coming to it new”.
