Yes that last one was really bad, but The fresh fruit song was great, I've never heard it before and it certainly gave me a grin ;D Speaking of which here's a couple of old clips. First up may be a cure for a hangover. This one comes from Spike Jones and the city slickers, recorded in 1945 Enjoy!

Senor Coconut and "Smoke On The Water" "This is BBC2 - good evening and welcome to Jazz Club" Now if you include rubbish covers of great music, I do have a really bad, and I do mean bad, cover of "Living In The Past" on one of those dreadful vanity type records called Sounds Progressive form 1970. Not only is the music very badly performed but IA's majestic flute part is replaced by someone who can't play a penny whistle. If I can ever find a youtube of it I'll post it here - or maybe not

Try these 3, Right Said Fred was the 1st record I ever bought, price I think was 6 shillings and threepence. Yep, that was about the correct price Sword. Have a happy birthday Sword. Many happy returns of the day. Save us some cake ;D

Here's 2 more to mull over. I think they're a bit like Marmite, you either love them or hate them.

Couldn't think where to put this, strictly speaking, not a comedy song, but oh boy, it makes me giggle every time I listen to it. Milligan should be sainted - Saint Spike Milligan of Lewisham - patron saint of geniuses and nutters maybe?

as a wee yin, I quite liked Charlie Drake's 'Please Mr Custer' - I cringe at it now!
There were some b-awful ones that DJs made - what was the 'ten four rubber duck' one? And whilst on the duck theme - the even worse 'Disco Duck' ... tho my childhood was built on such classics as 'The Ugly Duckling'.... lotsa duck action going on here - must step sideways!
Childrens Favorites on the old steam radio was a golden store of classics for the ol' comedy songs - no?
My fave was always one that, I think, went... 'As I was driving in my car...' which had a chorus... 'Beep beep, beep beep, his horn went beep beep beep!' Am I totally mental?

'As I was driving in my car...' which had a chorus... 'Beep beep, beep beep, his horn went beep beep beep!' Am I totally mental? Was it this? BEEP BEEP The Playmates - 1958 Beep beep beep beep His horn went beep beep beep While riding in my Cadillac What to my surprise A little Nash Rambler was following me About one third my size The guy musta wanted to pass me up As he kept on tooting his horn I'll show him that a Cadillac is not a car to scorn Beep beep beep beep His horn went beep beep beep I pushed my foot down to the floor To give the guy the shake But the little Nash Rambler stayed right behind He still had on his brake He musta thought his car had more guts As he kept on tooting his horn (beep beep) I'll show him that a Cadillac is not a car to scorn Beep beep beep beep His horn went beep beep beep My car went into passing gear And we took off with gust (whoosh) Soon we were going ninety Musta left him in the dust When I peeked in the mirror of my car I couldn't believe my eyes The little Nash Rambler was right behind You'd think that guy could fly Beep beep beep beep His horn went beep beep beep Now we were doing a hundred and ten This certainly was a race For a Rambler to pass a Caddy Would be a big disgrace The guy musta wanted to pass me up As he kept on tooting his horn (beep beep) I'll show him that a Cadillac is not a car to scorn Beep beep beep beep His horn went beep beep beep Now we're going a hundred twenty As fast as I can go The Rambler pulled along side of me As if we were going slow The fella rolled down his window And yelled for me to hear "Hey buddy how do I get this car outa second gear?" yeah - that's the one MDF - ta for the info! Have to admit to one and all on the Forum that I once had that song, on a 78 rpm record, so that was an easy one. I also had the Norman Wisdom record as well. They were played to death I'm sorry to say and went to the great shellac dump a long time ago. Innocent times when everything, in hindsight, was in shades of grey.
