Just saw the quote called 'quote' in the brick lyrics...(tootull's signoff on his post about MB repping guitars at a show) What are the few words AFTER ..'.upgrade...upgrade'? They are muttered, might end with some sort of good-bye...and are not on the lyrics...

Difficult to say...First something? is read or I'll go with First carriage is red stuff that fat home...ha
Now you have me laughing...
OF COURSE So you ride yourselves over the fields and you make all your animal deals and your wise men don't know how it feels to be thick as a brick.

We must, of course, find the answer re; these cryptic mutter/mumbles.
been comparing Brick to Play lately...i think the keyboards in brick are a teeny shade too shrill at times and nicely darkened a bit in Play.....rockier in a Doors (who i dislike) or Stranglers (who I love) manner as opposed to the insistent vibe in Brick....know what I mean?

I do know what you mean. We're talking essence of Tull here. The sound of APP on vinyl and the Mobile Fidelity Sound Lab gold CD always grab my attention. This is the stuff that touches my soul. This is the music that stops me in my tracks more than any other Tull time. I want to hold the world record for listening to APP the most. LOL Cheers!

I bet I give you serious competition on the lifelong APP listen stats......and I'm planning to spend a substantial part of my golden years drooling in a nursing home listening to it again and again....I trust my friends, as they stand aligned, even if their taxis came too late, have the good sense to play it at my funeral !

Just to add: ;D

I have no time for the Stranglers. I worship the Doors.

Essence of Tull....the little riff that became 'quartet', when played during the flute solo on the 1972 tour....for me that was the moment that I felt deepest immersed in Tull....those few seconds were so essence of Tull...there are moments in velvet green, Pibroch, budapest and lost in crowds that feel very essential as well...but none for than those quartet notes live from 72 thru 75.

But isn't the Tullishness of Lost In Crowds a sort of Velvet Green reprise ( obviously the instrumental in the middle...the topics: airports and sex, are no so related ! )

I love that tune, play it a lot. I sound like a Tull/Anderson freak...best to stop now.

This is the music that stops me in my tracks more than any other Tull time. Love the phrase "touches my soul". There're many pieces of music that touch my soul, both Tull and non Tull, but APP is a wonder every time I listen to it. But then the opening bars to Budapest will always send shivers down the old spine as will the bass intro to LITP, both memories for me for different reasons and associated with times past. Bernie, let me know the name of the nursing home you eventually go to, I'll join you and we'll drool together.

Anything with sardines will be fine. I'd prefer pilchards but beggers can't be choosers.
