I received this message from Mick this morning and he has asked me to pass it onto the members of the Jethro Tull Forum, his friends and his fans.
To all the friends and fans who have been asking about me. I had a serious heart attack followed by a mid brain stroke back in November last year. I am still in recovery and am not able to coordinate both hands to play guitar . Before I make any further moves about my future I have to get better and that will take some time. I also have a balance problem with a thing called menieres disease which between that and the after effects of the stroke has left me just about knackered ! I know that I have to be patient and get well first so Ill keep hoping toward that aim, at least I can still annoy Clive by speaking !! Please forgive him writing things about me but he has only just learned joined up writing, and the novelty hasn't worn off yet. Ya gotta love him don't ya Love to you all and thanks for your good wishes and thoughts . Mick Abrahams 24 June 2010

Thanks for giving us an update Mick. I work on a neuro rehab unit and know sometimes recovery is a slow process but, I have seen many patients make good progress after suffering similar conditions as yours so please stay focused on getting well again. Please have a look on our lounge thread where we have some footage from your gig at The Half Moon, Putney, 10th March 1991. As haroldhedd mentioned "mojo" in his post 'Got My MOJO Working' is the latest uploaded to our youtube channel. Take care Mick. Best wishes John

Thanks to everyone for their good wishes, I am trying to remain strong and heal ! Playing a little and walking without a stick now so I guess there is a small amount of improvement.
Cheers Mick

Still not playing but feeling a lot better.
I'm going to start doing a bit of teaching and I'm just in the process of changing my website.
Perhaps you would like to put an advert on your website saying that I will be doing masterclass sessions one-on-one etc etc as I feel this is the only way forward for me at the moment though you know what they say every little bit helps.
Have a great Christmas cheers mate.
MickIf anyone would like to book a place on Mick's masterclass sessions and would like further details, please PM me with your address and I'll forward the relevant information to Mick.

From Dr. Michael Timothy Abrahams I was informed today that university of Luton have bestowed on me the honour of a doctorate for services to the music industry !
To say the least, I was gob smacked ! Humbled and grateful ! Incredible !
So I'm told that i will have to get a cloak and hat so presumably they want me to do some Darth Vader songs etc !!
I knew all those visits to the doctors would get their attention because I can now be called doctor Aby !!
Oh yeah xx — feeling proud

Very well done Dr Aby of Luton.
Who doesn't love dressing up fancy in a gown and hat - we all remember the 70's.

Mick Abrahams added 40 new photos — feeling festive. 23 December at 10:04 · Milton Keynes This year, instead of sending all you lovely people cards etc, we will use the money we would have spent on them to buy copious amounts of alcohol, drugs, cleaning fluid, and anything we can get our hands on to get out of our trees for the festive season !! BUT SERIOUSLY FOLKS! we will donate the money to the Salvation Army who do wonderful work all the year round. And on a happy note(and there is one ) let us ( the Abrahams family) wish you a very happy Christmas and a healthy, happy & prosperous New Year most of all we wish you Love x [ from Mick's facebook page - thanks to Paul C. for passing this on]

13/11/2020 Today, with a heavy heart, I give you the news that playing guitar is now a no-no for me, as my hands and arms are riddled with arthritis. I’ve had this - among a host of other maladies - on and off over the last few years. I feel like I don’t deserve it, but hey ho… that’s life, and life must still go on! I shall now concentrate on my song-writing and personal appearances – Covid permitting. As you can imagine, I am truly peed off about this. But on the other hand, it is no more traumatic for me than it is for some less-deserving individuals who have suffered similar ill-health. There's really not much to say except a huge thank you to all you fans, friends and fellow-musicians out there, who have followed and supported all my work to date. I have had a lot of fun and satisfaction out of playing to entertain you, and have always enjoyed my playing and singing enormously. Watch this space for some radical changes in the not too-distant future: I will be auctioning a lot of my equipment and guitars, which you might like to bid on. More about that later. In the meantime, thank you for all your support. TTFN Mick www.squirrelmusic.com/news

Mick Abrahams is a true mensch, a talented musician and a good human being who, when it's all said and done, will have an impressive pile of Karma points. he seems to be making the best of what Lou Reed called 'Magic and Loss'.
