Billy Connolly - Why? I'm not sure I'm eloquent enough to give the man a just description! As well as being a hilarious wit and story teller he's a guru and bottomless pool of wisdom. If people like him ran the world life would be so much better. And nobody in the history of bad language can swear as well as he can.
And your question....What's something you have too much of?
A small plastic boat which I eventually dropped out of a hotel window in Dublin where it broke into many pieces. I was about 5 years old at the time and was on holiday. I then had a toy giraffe which went to "meet its maker" when I was about 7.
Forgot about this thread - sorry nonrabbit - it's a good one.
I reckon mobile phones will either get as small as a credit card or less which will be easier for my daughter to mislay which she seems to do frequently OR they will go retro and we'll all be carrying around the large brick size ones from the early 90s .
A question for our American members. Is Judge Judy for real?
Margaret MacDonald - Glasgow artist who had major world-wide exhibitions in the latter 19th Century early 20th oft overlooked as a major force behind Rennie MackIntosh (they were married) Her style was flowing, different and controversial for it's time and imo very beautiful! Plus they led such a bohemian way of live!!!
To make typing faster... LOL Had to go do resurch on this, learned something...
qwerty 1929, from the first six keys on a standard typewriter keyboard, read as though text, from top left. Mechanical typewriter patented 1867; the QWERTY layout itself is said to date to 1887; it is not meant to slow down typists, but to separate the letters in common digraphs (-sh-, -ck-, etc.) to reduce jamming of swing-arms in old-style machines. It actually speeds typing by requiring alternate-hand strokes, which is one reason why the alternate DVORAK keyboard is not appreciably faster. Remnants of the original alphabetic typewriter keyboard remain in the second row of letter keys: FGH-JKL. The Fr. standard was AZERTY; in Ger., QWERTZ; in It., QZERTY.
You have been granted a large house for one month at a 4 Seasons area. ( I.E. Whistler, Jackson Hole, Vail, some where in France, you pick.. Fishing, Hunting, Skiing, you know the kind.. any 4 Seasons area you wanted too.. ;D
Vail...you can ski every day for a motnh at vail and not get bored!...of course, France wouldn't be bad...certainly a cooler place for the off-slope hours and I've heard only good things about B.C...so keep Wyoming and send vouchers for the rest, please.
for those of you a few notches below Four Seasons accomodations: Hitch-hiking or freight train hopping?
The new intern who sat across and down the conference table at an endless, stupid, training session yesterday...she may have smiled (or laughed) at me...hard to tell but I made sure to sign up for more of the same in hopes of seeing her again...didn't see any wedding ring and the e-mail address on the sign in sheet was connected to a local university...somehow a good sign. Next week I'll sit next to her and risk all by exposing the Tull tatoo ( Passion Play logo with TULL underneath) on my shoulder...when Ian saw it, many years ago...he suggested that a true fan would allow a tatoo in a much more sensitive place!
Oh yeah...sorry..I ended up putting the question on another thread ( old or newer Willie Wonka?) I must have had something in my eye the day i met the intern...the wedding ring with golf ball sized diamond was so visible the next week! Anyway: High school reunion or college reunion...which would you attend?

Better late than never! ;D

smint100: Good Lord, why did no one tell me about the radio.net! I've spent a joyful afternoon in the garden watching the strawberries ripen - I mean, editing a book - and listening to unadulterated Tull. Heaven!

ash: Is anyone aware of a recent statement from Ian saying he doesn't have COPD and it's only asthma? Just asking
Jun 1, 2022 9:21:29 GMT
rredmond: I thought it was both?
Jun 4, 2022 19:34:53 GMT
ash: One can be mistaken for the other because of similar symptoms but COPD is the nasty one! I'm talking an updated statement from Ian early this year.

Jun 27, 2022 1:50:44 GMT
ash: "California Cockney rhyming slang? Why not?" Many reasons if your family has Cockney routes
Jul 3, 2022 12:04:52 GMT
steelmonkey: People my age learned of it and some of it from 'A Clockwork Orange', way back when.
Jul 4, 2022 2:05:35 GMT
steelmonkey: And I was taught that Tull members and crew called us civilian fans 'Billies' for Billy Bunter = Punter.
Jul 4, 2022 2:06:56 GMT
ash: My granddad would use Cockney rhyming slang now and then, more so if he was having a Darby. I will let him off seeing as he was born about half a mile from St Mary-le-Bow church.
