Ian Anderson and Jethro Tull are back in Italy on tour Posted by Cinzia Donati | 11 Aug 2022 LINK Ian Anderson 's band is back on tour for the summer of 2022, after the sold outs in Italian theaters and after the release, in January 2022, of The Zealot Gene, their first studio album after 18 years. On 8 August the Jethro Tull tour arrived in Forte dei Marmi, at Villa Bertelli , as part of the festival curated by LEG Live Emotion Group, AD Management and Villa Bertelli Committee, with Radio Bruno radiomediapartner.
On this occasion, it was possible to carry out this mini-interview via e-mail , conveyed by the press office. To say that this time no, I could not directly torture
the subject in question! But, being a star, I turned a blind eye!
“I am happy to come back to Italy once again!”
The interview How would you describe your new tour in a few words? We only managed to pull off two concerts in February 2020, pre-Covid, and we had to wait eighteen months for the opportunity to take the stage again for some concerts in the latter part of 2021. Over the past year there have been twenty shows we managed to carry on, but in the latter part of 2022 we are again faced with the prospect of further postponements due to the current surge in the new BA5 Omicron variant. However, I am still confident that we will be able to deliver most of the shows scheduled for both 2022 and 2023. I am still very cautious about the health of all the band and crew as we depend on each other to avoid Covid and show cancellations. For this reason it is more stressful to continue the tour and travel is also affected by the post-pandemic, due to the trend of the economy and the problems of the airlines, with the availability of crews and ground staff after two years of relative inactivity. But I'm happy to go back to Italy once again!"
You will soon be in Italy. How does going back make you feel? What do you know and what do you think about our country, our culture?
"I have played regularly in Italy for fifty years and worked with some Italian bands and artists, both past and present. As happened recently with PFM and Andrea Griminelli, classical flautist, just to name two. And I had a guest role in the works of young artists who are not yet very well known. I have often visited Italy as a tourist, even recently, to better understand both the Italian people and the historical culture of this nation."
What awaits you in the near future? Is there any project you are already working on?
"I have rehearsals and recording sessions scheduled in the next few weeks for a new album, which will be released in April 2023. We have already recorded four songs, so we are well on our way. Plus, of course, there will be many concerts in different countries. A very busy period awaits me!"

COLD FLAME Given that this forum is specifically dedicated to the music of Jethro Tull, my input generally over the years has either been reviewing Tull music or concerts attended or advertising up and coming Cold Flame concerts where the band would be performing the music of Jethro Tull. However, I have only just realised that maybe I have been missing an opportunity to focus on the original music of Cold Flame. With fingers crossed and baited breath whilst throwing caution to the wind, I am starting up this new thread theme dedicated to the band I have led since 1984. COLD FLAME - A short summary of the bandCold Flame are a respected original blues rock band and renowned Jethro Tull tribute act based in Derbyshire England. They were formed in 1984 by singer songwriter Pat Rowbottom who remains the band's driving force together with a stable line up that has been together for well over a decade. The band have performed regularly across the UK and Europe gaining Cold Flame an enviable reputation as an exciting live electric and acoustic band. Cold Flame's unique blend of original and traditional blues, rock and folk rock music continues to attract local, national and even some international radio airplay both in the UK, Europe, Australia, USA, Canada and South America...influenced by a succession of acclaimed studio album releases over the years as well as major support act opportunities to some legendary British rock and blues acts. Whilst remaining very much a UK based band, in 2019, Pat formed an alternative four piece Cold Flame line up featuring French musicians. This variation of the band performs live electric and acoustic concerts specifically in France as and when opportunities arise, featuring a similar repertoire to that played by the UK line up. COLD FLAME - musicians
Pat Rowbottom - vocals, electric and acoustic bass guitars, recorder. Rob Barnes - vocals, lead and acoustic guitars. Phil Marke - drums & percussion. Joe Orban - keyboards. Mark Parkinson - flutes. Vince Walton - drums & percussion.
with occasional musicians.... Dave Conner - guitars. Adam Hutchins - keyboards.
In 2023 Cold Flame celebrate their thirty ninth anniversary as an active band and this will be marked in January 2023 by two new official band videos. As both have now been released here are the links... This will be closely followed on February 1st by the release of a brand new studio album entitled 'A Circus in Paradise'. The new album, the band's sixteenth, is being released worldwide by West Yorkshire based independent record company Starring Records. It sees the band moving away temporarily from the blues to present the listening public instead with a progressive rock concept album. The album features nine new original songs lasting over 75 minutes in total though further original unreleased material is planned for the download version of the album with an expected release date of March 2023. February 2023 also sees the band return to live action with concerts already planned throughout the year taking in shows both in England and also in Europe. LOT #1315: LINK Jethro Tull’s Ian Anderson Signed Flute With Case As hard as it may be to envision the combination of the world of rock with the lilting tones of the flute, Jethro Tull did so in spectacular fashion, thanks largely to talented frontman Ian Anderson. The multi-talented musician has offered his signature in black Sharpie on this Heimer flute, which comes un-assembled in its black case. While the flute does bear a couple of dents and shows some use, this is a great chance to have a memento signed by a multi-platinum performer and rock innovator. Autograph comes with Letter of Authenticity from JSA.

The sample song sounds like the best of Homo Erraticus more than softer Zealot Gene. No opinions on how to say the album's name? RökFlöte - Wikipedia The album mostly revolves around the characters, roles, and principle gods in Norse Paganism, As well as "Rock Flute". The name of the album comes from "Rock Flute" as the original idea was to make an album of mostly instrumental flute music. But eventually Ian Anderson stated that he was drawn to the phrase Ragnarök with "rök" meaning destiny, course, or direction. Ian Anderson would then change "Flute" to "Flote" to "keep with the spelling"
