From Canadian Tull pages: CRAFT BEER: Tull would have been proud By Ernst Kuglin, Trentonian Wednesday, June 26, 2013 9:33:49 EDT PM www.intelligencer.ca/2013/06/26/craft-beer-tull-would-have-been-proudTRENTON - Ontario - Canada Jethro Tull would have been proud. The famous namesake of the rock band was a revolutionary British agriculturalist. Tull probably liked beer, in particular, a beer favoured by farmers. If Tull were alive today, he'd find a good farmer's brew at the Gateway Brewing Company in Trenton. Gateway officially launched its new brew, Jethro's Farmhouse Ale, Tuesday. Jethro's is the creation of head brewer Chris Greasley. "Farmhouse is essentially a farmer's beer. It's modeled after the classic Belgian Saison style ale," said Greasley, holding a pint glass of the amber ale. Greasley said he's been experimenting with the recipe for about a year. "It's a style of beer that you can find in Europe. You don't see it here very often, but we really like it," said Greasley, who's been brewing beer for 17 years. So do the customers. Stirling resident Petro Ringas was sampling the different Gateway brews just in time for Jethro's launch. "It's really nice. The beer has a different taste and would make a great summer beer," said Ringas, sitting at the tasting room bar. Both Greasley and assistant brewer Jez Tippet suggest pouring a glass and adding a slice of orange. "I started mixing different spices and going with different combination until I came up with what I thought was a good recipe," said Greasley. Gateway owner and manager Matthew Cottrell said Jethro's Farmhouse is a great addition to the company's line of craft brews that are all natural and unpasteurized beers. "The Belgian style is really distinctive, he said. "It a nice easy drinking beer." Gateway's signature beer is the Gateway Pale Ale. Also available is Gateway Blonde Ale and Nelson Pale ale. The Gateway brews are available at a growing number of pubs and restaurants in the Quinte region. "We want to expand the list, but it's tough competing against the big guys," said Cottrell. Gateway opened in Trenton in 2010 and serves a growing list of clientele. “Having Gateway here in Trenton is a great boost for our community,” said local chamber manager Suzanne Andrews. “Local food and drink is a big draw for tourists.” Gateway is now part of the newly developed Cheddar & Ale Trail Map and Guide produced by the Bay of Quinte Tourist Council. This map can be found on their website and encourages ‘foodies’ to explore the Quinte Region.” To find out more about Gateway Brewing Company phone them at 613-394-1010 or visit online at www.gatewaybrewing.caGateway Brewing Company launched its latest brew Tuesday. The cast at Gateway describe Jethro's Farmhouse Ale as a distinctive, Belgian style summertime beer. I've just returned home from my local where the Memsaab and I had a lovely meal (and she paid ). Anyway, apart from a perfectly cooked trio of lamb chops, the guest beer was Doom Bar from the Sharps brewery in Cornwall. I have to say it travelled very well and even though I'm not sure if I've tasted it before it's one of the nicest beers I've ever tasted. So, I'm now recommending this fine brew to The Forum. All I need now is Sir maddog to come up and help me drink the pub dry.

I've been enjoying some of this lately: Something the missus and I can enjoy together when the girls are in bed. Smooth and tasty. Still prefer my Extra Stout, but this stuff is good. --R--

I'm on the train as I speak and will be knocking on the door in about 15 minutes

Looks good Jim On another point, thanks for the virtual Tull tour that you've posted over the year and I'm hoping for a repeat in 2014. Some of the venues that the band have played in looked "top notch" with some being visually outstanding.Well researched and a huge thank you from all of us here. I'll drink your health with a pint or two of ale tonight - Patti can have a glass of orange squash to celebrate

Eventually I used Tull Gate SG-1 which was just as easy. Now it's almost time to leave for Austria. The truth is this tour has been very historic in many ways. What a great year it's been so far! Found this under a large boulder in the back garden - I may join you

They sound rather good. I'll have to get young master bunkerfan to organise a trip to the brewery or failing that a shipment to the UK.

That's a great selection of beers, apart from the non alcoholic one. I've never heard of green beer, but I have heard of black beer.
