Anyone know when and how Ian broke the little finger of his right hand? ( must of been a childhood injury; the finger is as crooked as a hooker in some of the earliest footage that I've seen.)
Also any clue how long after buying a flute was he competent enough to put it into stage acts and album work? ( how many months / years of practice)

( how many months / years of practice) Love the expression "crooked as a hooker" As far as I know, the finger is a defect that IA's had since birth. To be honest I've only ever seen him refer to it once many moons ago but he didn't elaborate on what caused it. As for the flute, by all intense and purposes he was confident enough to use it in performance after only a few months of practice. I don't know the time scale but its appearence on This Was certainly bears out the fact he took to it readily and was a natural player.

Thank you. Its good to know that one can be self taught on the flute and it wont take 5-6 years. ;D I plan to dabble around and learn some. I have my wifes old school flute, cheap Bundy. Some of the pads are worn....actually not too bad ;D
I plan on buying a better model in the future if I get good enough. This is for home entertainment only...I'm too old to tour. ;D
