Here's a good quality clip with a strange ending, Ian seems to go off with a tummy ache, or is he not happy about the rehearsal? It's an excellent clip quality wise and also for the pain on their faces for the crap rehearsal. I think he either had wind or too much of Glenn's pink faux pas snakeskin trousers

The show was featured in Life magazine back in 1970. The US and UK editions had different covers if I remember correctly but the same article inside the magazine. I'll dig it out and post here when I have a moment.

Yes, there are a lot of photos of that show around, even the title of Greg Russo's book "Flying Colours" is taken from that. I'm feeling nostalgic tonight so I typed in Jethro Tull 1970 and watched this absolute gem. So to all my dear friends here on The Forum I recommend you do what I did. Put your headphones on, turn the volume up and pretend you're Clive Bunker.

Jethro Tull live audio 1970-02-21 Frankfurt

Jethro Tull live audio at the Frankfurt Jahrhunderthalle on February 21, 1970. Fritz Rau booked Jethro Tull on February 21, 1970 to perform their first ever concert appearance in Germany at the almost 5,000 seat Jahrhunderthalle. The concert promoters had underestimated the enthusiasm and demand for tickets and on concert day, an extra ticket-less 2,000 people showed up When it became apparent that the extra non-ticket holders were not going to be admitted, some took matters into their own hands and reportedly 11 of the hall’s large glass panes and four glass doors were shattered in a mini riot, causing 40,000 DM in damages and five hospital admissions. This caused the cancellation at a week's notice of Led Zeppelin's first German tour concert in Frankfurt on March 10th The song introductions have been cut. Photos by Michael Montfort.

Jethro Tull live audio 1970-07-17 New York Pop Festival, Randall's Island Downing Stadium
Jethro Tull Collection 2.15K subscribers
Jethro Tull live at the New York Pop Festival July 17, 1970, Downing Stadium, Randall's Island. This is one of the earliest Tull bootlegs I traded for back in the mid-late 1970s.
From djtees.com: In July 1970 on New York's Randall's Island, an event billed as "New York's Pop Festival" was held. It was nothing to do with 'pop' music, of course. This was to be different to a 'normal' festival. For a start it was to be held in Downing Stadium and there'd be no camping. It was billed as a series of concerts rather than a 'traditional' festival.
By the time people arrived for the Friday show, 8,000 out of the 25,000 did not pay as so-called security looked the other way. Hendrix, Grand Funk Railroad, John Sebastian, Steppenwolf and Jethro Tull all played on Friday - a really strong line-up.
By Saturday, the bands began realising they'd probably not be getting paid since there was so much gate-crashing, so managers wanted paying up front before bands took the stage. Gate-crashing continued with the collective asking people to give them money and get in 'free'. Huh? It was all one big hustle. By Sunday the promoters gave up and called in a free festival, but it had been free since the start in reality. 30,000 had busted in without paying.
A reporter asked promoter Don Friedman what he thought about it all. "The festival spirit is dead, and it happened quickly," he said. "I don't know the reasons why. Greed on everyone's part, I guess. The love-peace thing of Woodstock is out. Anarchy. Complete and total anarchy. That's what's replaced it."
