Had a great time watching that - I didn't realise the Lively Arts docu was on youtube. Brought back memories of watching it the first time too! Few things struck me watching it again after all this time; How sad that John Glascock died so young. How right Anderson was when he said that it was important to him to fund not only a lifestyle he wanted when he wasn't playing but one that contributed to others and the environment. Funny in the recording studio doing Dark Ages when he stops playing the 'flute bit' and says it needs something there - James Galway!! AND the big question that has perplexed me since I was a wee lassie - what do roadies and crew members do when the touring stops? Thanks Mr Fagin - Sir!

I saw the documentary on PBS when it came out, but I had completely forgotten about it. Great that it's on youtube but does anyone know whether it's available in its entirety on DVD, and if so where to get it? Jeff

I've got a copy on VHS which I haven't looked at for many years and as far as I can recollect is probably many generations down the line in quality. You could try a trade with the electrocutas site or any of the guys on this site who trade cds and dvds. If I find anything more I'll post the details. Maddog

update to the videos and Strathaird Salmon this was announced a month ago in FishNewsEU ( I kid you not);
(with obligatory headline)
Living in the past
– it’s the final curtain for Jethro Tull singer’s salmon company Thursday, 23 July 2009 09:19 STRATHAIRD Salmon has confirmed it will close its factory in Inverness on Friday. The company, now owned by The Seafood Company, part of the Findus Group, was originally set up by Jethro Tull lead singer Ian Anderson in the 1970s to farm salmon on his Isle of Skye estate. By the Nineties, Strathaird Salmon was reportedly worth £10.7m however he then sold off the salmon farming side of the business, retaining the fish processing operation until 2001 when it was sold to the Macrae Food Group.
Most of the 326 Strathaird staff have taken redundancy, but 22 have taken up the offer of employment at the owner's factories in Grimsby and Fraserburgh.
The Seafood Company is moving its smoked salmon production to Fraserburgh. It had previously said it would have needed to invest £7m in the Inverness facility over the next five years.
Iain Herd, managing director at Strathaird Salmon, said: "We believed that we had the capacity to absorb all jobs at Inverness within our factories but recognised that colleagues may not wish to relocate."
That's sad even although he sold the salmon side on previously. He took a hell of a chance when he bought the estate and must have put a hell of a lot of money into it and time and effort as indeed the locals in the area did too.

Who's that singing Dun Ringill" with Ian? is that Peggy? Sure is I read in an interview in an obscure UK folk music magazine/inkie (so obscure I can't recollect its name) that the studio footage was during DP's induction into the Tull family during rehersals. I did an interview with DP in 1989 for a radio programme which I have somewhere on tape and the thought occurs to me to try and transcibe the interview and post it on this forum as an exclusive. It's over an hour in length and I'll have to try and find it amongst all the other tapes I've got so it might take sometime to do.

(DUN RINGILL) 9-14-1979. FROM ALBUM STORMWATCH "DUN RINGILL" is a song from Jethro Tull's twelfth studio album "STORMWATCH" released on September 14th, 1979. It is considered the last in the trilogy of folk- rock-albums by Jethro Tull (although folk music influenced virtually every Tull album).
"DUN RINGILL" is the historic site of an Iron Age fort on the Isle of Skye, which served as the original seat of the Clan MacKinnon. Tull's Ian Anderson once owned and lived in a nearby Kilmarie house, until he sold the estate in 1994. (Dun Ringill - the song is taken from the Dun Ringill Isle of Skye Historic site).
