The Artist
A unique phenomenon in popular music history, Jethro Tull have been and still are one of the most successfull and enduring acts in British Rock history and one of the most successfull live performing acts on the world stage, rivalling Led Zeppelin, Elton John and even the Rolling Stones.
With records like "Aqualung“ and "Thick Is A Brick“ (#1 US) they produced the first two concept records in Rock history and became one of the most successfull bands in Progressiv Rock. Surprising, really, for a group whose more sophisticated and evolved stylistic extravagance was far from the Pop and Rock norm of the 70‘s era.
Jethro Tull‘s sound went from a sort of progressive Blues with a bit of Jazz over to real progressive Rock alongside such diverse groups as King Crimson, Genesis, Camel, The Nice, Gentle Giant and Yes but is still influenced of world music and a mixture of diverse classical instruments – one of the most experimental Rock groups ever.
Their music is characterised by the songs, vocals and flute work of Ian Anderson who, together with Martin Barre, remains at the centre of a group of sometimes changing but highly capable – indeed excellent – musicians. Currently, Doane Perry, veteran Tull drummer of some 24 years experience, together with John O’Hara on piano and accordion, and David Goodier on bass guitar are to be found in the line-up, delighting audiences and continuing the legacy of Tull’s music with its rich variety and depth of expression
wherever fans, young and old, want to hear Rock, Folk, Jazz and Classical-inspired music for grown-ups.
The Product
After fourty years of ever growing success with now some 30-odd albums to their credit and sales totalling more than 50-million, Jethro Tull are still performing typically more than a hundred concerts each year. Live At AVO Session Basel is with no doubt one of their best.
"This record is really of a typical Tull show, with a mixture of classic material from our repertoire, particularly the earlier period.“ (Ian Anderson – Jethro Tull)
Approx 90 minutes full of all Jethro Tull classics shown in an amazing live show including one of their best known songs "Living In The Past“ and the Classic song "Bouree“ of Johann Sebastian Bach. "We all hope you enjoy the show and come to see us when we are next in your town, wherever in the world that might be.“ (Ian Anderson – Jethro Tull)
