When you realise that you know all the different UK label variants of the original vinyl 7" single of LITP When it suddenly dawns on you that it'll take for ages to get around to listening to the 1970 bootleg of an obscure Tull concert in Europe that you've just aquired as you've 60 others to listen to first When you scan the latest edition of The Radio Times just in case there's a Tull concert being shown at some inconvenient time, normally at 3 in the morning When you find a box of cassette tapes with recorded Tull items and you just have to stop what you're doing and see what's on them Ok, I'll get my hat . . .

You know you're a Tull fan when you look at an ultrasound of your baby-to-be and are secretly glad, not panicked, when the doctor points out that the baby seems to have one leg oddly bent up at the knee !

You're bald and hide it, you sing like an old man, you have arthritis, you dye your beard, you're cheap, you have early onset senility which causes you to tell the same old jokes to your audience over & over & over........oh, sorry.....thought it said " You Know You're A Tull Frontman When......"
take it easy, everyone. Just doing my thing. Devil's advocate Tommie!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

You know Tommie, your chances of winning Ian's daughter's heart, if and when she tires of the good-looking actor guy and the Coldplay/movie start jet set life, are not gonna be helped by you trashing the old man each chance you get.

You're right, Steel. That's it for me. I vow: that was my last "trash". Just had to get it out of the way. I think the recent announcements about "Tull" (Tull? -O'Hara, Ophale, Goodier, etc) doing yet more touring, late into 2010!!! with still no new stuff in sight just got to me. So, thanks for the heads-up. Alas, I must finally accept reality . My favourite band! My favourite songwriter/musician! boo hoo sob sob.

When you buy a picture in a charity shop because it reminds you of a Tull song. Picture of picture coming up...soon hang on a bit.. isn't that what Ian did for the cover of the Xmas album - mine's a winter scene as well? You Know Your Obsessed When You Copy Ian Without Realising

or in keeping with this new work ...Revelations of a Tullfan.
You know your a Tull fan when you approach a new album which at first sounds unsurprising, a bit convoluted and predictable and you start to devote time to peeling away at the layers.
You have google translate on for Latin-English and a new tab for historical references.
You are reminded with a clarity that is sweet and emotional as to why you chose this band in the first place and why Anderson remains your favourite musician.
You need a certain level of intelligence and curiosity to be one in the first place. Pretentious? Not really but true nevertheless - how many bands/musicians give you a hardback book with a storyline and a theme such as HE?
Anderson says it himself when referring to the homo sapien ;
"We feel the passion..."
and I don't necessarily think he was referring to himself but it seems apt here;
"We have the strange need to absorb it when expressed by creative others of artistic expertise..."
You wish you had a better machine to listen to it or you could pop on a bus and visit someone who has.
Personally you wish you had a time machine and could adopt the same methodical approach to APP when it first came out.

.....When you spend all morning learning how to get a 20 second Homo Erraticus ( After These Wars 3:35 to 3:55 ) ringtone edited from I tunes in a ringtone format then get it on the phone. No stopping me now. Got sections of Banker Bets, Aqualung and To Cry You a Song on the phone. True ..... Was in Tesco yesterday and forgot I had set the famous Aqualung guitar riff as ringtone. I was looking at the cooked chickens ( not ducks no jokes please ) and the phone started to ring. For 5 or secs or so I thought it was coming from the piped music in store ( its my age ). Then I realised proudly took the phone out of my pocket and just looked at this bloke next to me and said 'Aqualung Mate' ... looked at me as if I was a few short of a dozen. Tull fans.

When on Easter Sunday, you immediately have "The Hare Who Lost His Spectacles" running through your heard and can't stop thinking of experimental non-rabbits.

Well... how smart is that? Or should I rather say... How smart am I?? Well... here it is... imagine if someone calls you on the phone, and this is your ringtone...!! Cool, cool, cool!!

You know you're a Tull fan when, even compared to being a father, an employee, a friend, a boyfriend or even a pet caregiver...you find the new album: IMPORTANT.

You know you're a Tull fan when the only things that are played on the DVD player are Tull concerts or, more importantly at the moment, the DVD from Homo Erraticus delux set.

When you stay in on Easter Sunday until 7:45pm to make sure you win the 'Ian Anderson Plays The Christmas Jethro Tull At Canterbury Cathedral' T Shirt on E Bay. Although I wasn't there and it's a size to small I had to have it.. Sad or What? Come on who sold it? I know you are from Canterbury!

You know you`re a Tull fan when you are waiting for HE to arrive, your CD player in the car dies and you buy a new car so you can listen to HE going to and from work.
The easy part is done.......now, come on HE!!!
