Why on earth would you leave Tull after Aqualung?

I believe I can recall that Clive left the music business and started a window cleaning business. Honestly, if my memory is correct, that was what I read in the Sounds/NME back in 1971 !

I never heard the about Clive doing windows...I know some ex-Tullies ended up doing odd jobs: John Evan in small scale construction and Glenn Cornick either selling or warehousing pet food. Clive, I think, stayed connected to music all along...he was either in or considered for a Chrysalis label attempt at a supergroup with Robin Trower and, as is well known, has played on and off with Mick Abrahms, Vicki Clayton, some Tull tribute type bands and various other gigs...who knows...maybe he did windows?

Yes - I think the group was called Jude and the group became the Robin Trower Band with a new drummer. However, only CB can confirm the window cleaning aspect post Tull. I often ask myself why people leave groups at the top of their career. Take Ronnie Lane (RIP) - he left one of the most popular (money making) groups (Faces) of all time in order to do his own thing which resulted in his financial ruin. Rod S, on the other hand, had made millions!!

The one with the window cleaning business was Mick Abrahams. Clive left Tull to get married. At that time touring the States meant at least 6 months away from home what he thought was far too long for a young couple. He ran a transport company and dog kennels. Apart from that he played in several bands like Jude, Bloodwyn Pig, Aviator, .... His "new" band is called "The Gathering" and you can find informations on: www.myspace.com/thegatheringonline

If you want to be included in this Q & A with Glenn, we'll be posting the questions received to him in around a week or two. Get the thinking caps on

Hey Dog....are you mixing up Clive and Glenn? Is Tommy mailing you something from The Bronx? Am I asking for trouble?

Put it down to too much blood in the alcohol system Having a few days off from the mindless excitement of packing cold desserts I had one too many beers. Well that's my excuse anyway ;D Am I forgiven or do I have to perform some kind of forfeit?

I'll answer you question with a question: Did we meet, at a bar called 'The Swan' after the first 'Rock Island' concert in London in 1989?

I'll answer you question with a question: Did we meet, at a bar called 'The Swan' after the first 'Rock Island' concert in London in 1989? Hey steel, was that for me or Clive/Glenn? If it was the former, yes we probably did as it was a regular meeting point for pre/post-show drinks for Tull concerts at the Hammersmith Apollo/Odeon. The Swan is now known as Edwards for some inexplicable reason If it was for Clive/Glenn my humblest apologies for butting in I promise I won't do it again Sir

It was for you. i remember meeting a Graham, who does not look like the avatar...thus my 'Tull Museum' Bizness card in your 'museum'. The Swan pre/post Tull scene was great...I only experienced it once...that night....I was picked up at closing time by a friend who drove me to Dover for an overniter to Calais and points east.....I wished i had seen the other Rock island shows in london but i did see them again in Hamburg, Zurich and Milan...In Milan I saw Ian flip out at a restaraunt that seemed to overcharge him after the gig...he was still hand-rolling cigs in those days...one-handed, without looking. I was in the building but not the room for dressing room tapes in Zurich.......damn!

Graham Smith (yep, another Graham) and I did the whole UK leg of the tour in a burnt out left hand drive bright green VW van and met a great many folks from all over the country. The things we did in our younger days . Graham
