Might be a mini board meet up in Modesto, right? Me, Bluehare and Salamander are all leaning that way...Sunday 11-8. Anyone else tempted? Tix on sale in late July so we can shop en masse when the time comes!

Sounds great - wish I could add to the head count * watery jealous smile* Hope Steel can overcome his shyness and join in the fun Whenever I hear of road trips in the States this is the mental image like it's always 1960 on Route 66 - sad I know! ;D ;D ;D i40.images obliterated by tinypic/jsga9y.jpg[/IMG]

Salamander, I spent ages 7 (or thereabouts) to 25 in Modesto. For Ian to be playing there of all places makes this concert venue pretty special, for me at least. There are very few things that could make me miss out on it. Will be fun to meet you and SM! Maybe we'll come back with some stories for our pals here. nonrabbit.....that is exactly what many road trips in the states look like to this day! ;D I actually like that pic....very moody & dramatic.....

How cool is that, Salamander?! I originally asked for "Best Available", and was given Orchestra tickets that were about 12 rows back. I figured I could do way better than that. Good thing I tried again. Soooo....we'll work out the early meet-ups and all that stuff as the day approaches, yeah?

It might be all too much for me...the company of four women who are pro- Tull will, more or less ,equal the total amount of women I have met in my whole life who appreciate Tull...and that's including my defenseless daughter who has had the music forced upon her since birth. I'll triple my medications that morning, I promise.

Yeah...and risk being a 51 year old virgin. I think the second row in Modesto will include Bluehare, Bluehare Sr ( her Mom!), Salamander and, with some coaxing, Rebecca.

He's alright, I guess!
Been trying to think of some clever comeback for SM, but coming up blank. I do remember one girl I hung with in college who was one of those kinds who would pick up her boyfriend's taste, whatever it was, but when I mentioned JT, she said, "oh I don't like them, they're wierd."
Whatever that means.

I kind of like the idea of Ian Anderson spending the night in Modesto. Now try and find your precious curry, it will be Ruby Tuesday for you, or Applebee's. For all I know they may have a Indian population these days, their climate is not unlike how I perceive, almost certainly incorrectly, huge parts of India.

Actually, Ray, there are at least two Indian restaurants in Modesto where Ian's people could find passable fare for him should he not want to venture out on his own. There may be more, but I have been in two that are still doing well in town. May not have his level of spiciness, so in that regard he could be disappointed. And temp-wise, it's a brisk 104/105 F (or 38/41 for you peeps using the C letter...) in summer. Little cooler than my town.... But by early November, he should be okay. Now just so you show-goers are all up on how things work where Bluehare Sr. is concerned....she gave birth to me when she was 5. I was a miracle baby..... Think Liz Taylor without the violet eyes, high-pitched voice, bawdy sense of humor, and entourage......

I like the idea of the Indian in Modesto called Ruby Tuesday I take it that apart from being called after the song it's also called after the Brit slang curry - Ruby Murray. Story...Ruby Murray was a singer born in Belfast and her brother still lives next door to my mother in Glasgow. I'm not sure when a curry started to be called a ruby murray - probably in Glasgow - they're a cheeky lot Talking of mothers ;D mine lived and worked most of her life in Americeee! ( hence the fact my Daddyoo is American) and now she walks around Glasgow looking like some Florida retiree - clothes bright and mis- matched ( for Scotland) Last time I saw her she had a lilac skull cap with sequins on her head - she's 81 Ps I have never been to Florida or ( America for that matter) so I might be wrong on the clothes thing !!

Oh, I would hate to see your mom and mine get together, nonrabbit! Actually, it would probably be fun. A little sociological study on how two elderly women can have an impact on a city like Glasgow. (Ack! Did I just mention "elderly" and my mother in the same sentence??). My mother likes colorful clothes, too. Very flashy. Last time she was in Scotland she picked a fight with a Bed and Breakfast owner whose name escapes me right now, just because she knew she could get his dander up. She still snickers over that from time to time. From what I've seen, you're not far wrong about the clothes in Florida. But being a Cali girl, I have a natural bias against anything from Florida. Don't know how that got in my psyche and I've tried to weed it out, but it still crops up. I believe Ray is referring to restaurant chains when he mentions Ruby Tuesday and Applebee's...and Ian being subjected to them. Naughty Ray! But I like your story about Ruby Murray. That was very fun to read! How would it be to have a dish named for you? I've had a cocktail named for me, and I've invented a cocktail...but no entrees as yet... Now Ian....if you happen to be following this thread....."India Bistro" and "India Palate" are your best bet. "Guru Indian" is very dodgy, and I don't know much about the others that appear to be cropping up...

Perhaps we should hang at the India Bistro and/or India Palate in hopes of running into him...not that I need much excuse to go eat Indian food. Being mealtime is about enough excuse for me.
