Got my copy of the Classic edition today and had a quick look through it. Very impressed with it and I look forward to reading the lyrics while listening to the music as Ian Anderson suggests. I remember reading the lyrics closely in the days when LP's were the norm and album covers and word sheets seemed almost as important as the music (especially on Thick as a Brick). Think I/we lost out when tapes and CD's took the place of vinyl.
I also thought it nice that Ian makes special mention of the contribution that Martin Barre has made to the band over the decades, in the preface section of the book. The book seems very comprehensive and it is surprising to see how much Ian has written over the years.

Hurrah! My copy of Silent Singing and The Ballad of Jethro Tull arrived today - both are bigger than I was expecting but very well packaged. I hope your copy arrives soon, steelmonkey At first glance, it's very well produced - although I'm not sure whether the photo on page 259 is worth the cover price alone, or whether I should be asking for a refund Very pleased to see the lyrics to The Zealot Gene (along with Biblical references) and words from the Broadsword 40th Anniversary Box Set. Also interesting to see some of the hand written lyrics - most appear to be barely amended. Anyway, I shall be spending some considerable time with both books this weekend sheltering from Storm Arwen

I'm going to figure out how to set a trap for the mailman...maybe play loud Tull when he comes around and see if he comments or his ears even perk up. Pretty sure my copy of Silent Singing is on his bedside table or under his Christmas tree.

Pretty sure my copy of Silent Singing is on his bedside table or under his Christmas tree. Our postman (mailman) would know nothing of Jethro Tull sadly, like 99% of the community here........ Nobody here within miles would know anything about the band. Who gives a sh** I love them

Dear friends, fans and admirers of music, Mr. Anderson and Jethro Tull, respectively. Today I received a publication in which Mr. Anderson ............, but there is no point in stating the content, everyone knows it. It's a beautiful and intense Christmas present from a man who allowed me to feel the extremely strong emotional content that only music by Jethro Tull can have. Now I have no choice but to thank all the people who created this work, but especially Mr. Anderson. Thank you so much, this can never be forgotten !

Ian Anderson talks about Wicked Windows, Dot Com and shooting Here’s another film from our recent video shoot with Ian Anderson. And ‘shoot’ is appropriate here, because in turning to the photo in the Silent Singing book he took to illustrate the Jethro Tull song Wicked Windows on Dot Com album (released on this day in 1999), Ian goes into a fascinating riff about his love of target shooting and the surprising connections between making music and shooting. It gives a real insight into how he approaches the performance of everything he does.
