Not alot of independent record stores even in London these days but we do have one in Kingston which isn't a million miles away so when my wife said she was going shopping in Kingston this morning (an announcement which I wouldn't normally be hugely interested in) I gave her a list of Record Store Day goodies (North Sea Oil at the top of course) with a request to visit Banquet Records (which is usually empty). She phones me to say there's a massive queue but will try again later - fingers crossed! Thanks to Maddogfagin for the tip off....

Success! Only a half hour queue on the second visit by my wife so North Sea Oil is in the Banquet Records bag! And yes, before you say anything, it's the height of laziness I know but I do have the excuse of recovering from recent heart surgery and this will aid my recovery no end!

That's Ok Sir Of interest, the scalpers are already at work on ebay - may wait until the album is released

Hi, i finally got my "North sea oil" , in Lyon , France where i saw at least three shops who had the gem! After hearing a couple of times i found the early version of Dun ringill really good . The remix of North sea oil does not bring a lot of things compared to the remaster of 2004, what do you think of it ?

Got my North Sea Oil at the Record Exchange in Pittsburgh, PA. Right near where the recent Tree of Life mass shooting occurred (Squirrel Hill neighborhood). A horrendous reminder of what havoc hate can cause.

The reference to "Mainstream" after King Henry's Madrigal on the reverse of the cover seems to refer to a short lived BBC music and arts programme from 1979 or thereabouts. Found the following from the web which I'm assuming is the self same programme - feel free to disagree "While at the BBC, Gilbert also produced an arts magazine programme called Mainstream, a programme described by The Sunday Times TV critic as 'the worst programme in the history of television'; it is a comment Gilbert still treasures."en.wikipedia.org/wiki/John_Selwyn_GilbertMainstream BBC One London, 4 December 1979 22.15 with Bruce Parker The weekly magazine programme reporting ' live' on music, entertainment and the arts around the country.
