Hi there. New poster from the United States.
It is becoming increasingly difficult to find some of the Jethro Tull box sets (remixed by Steven Wilson) that have been released recently or over the past few years. Are these box sets only limited edition? That is, and they supposed to go out of print once they sell out? The ones that are becoming increasingly difficult to locate are below. I'd like to buy all of them at some point, but I am concerned about whether they will go out of print before I can afford to get them all. It seems as though the box set for "Songs From The Wood" sold like hotcakes. I mean, it hasn't been out that long.
If these box sets are a limited supply item.......well, I wish we could one day have a business model where box sets like this, once the limited supply runs out, could still be purchased by customers via special request (but for more money). Kind of like how certain recording artists now have download sites for their concerts where you can buy a CD instead of the download, but where the company does not create the CD's beforehand. They only create the CD if a customer wants one. Advertise the initial run of box sets as being at a "special price" to encourage purchasing, but still make the sets available afterwards on a as needed basis. I understand the need to not create a bunch of these box sets because you don't want box sets floating around record stores and warehouses. But if you only print according to customer need, you avoid that trap.

I understand that some of these albums box sets have sold out and are now very hard to find. I mentioned on another thread that the 'Thick as a Brick' box set is now been sold for hundreds on pounds on Ebay as it is so hard to find. I have been looking for a copy but the ebay copies seem to be the only ones available.
I have seen the Heavy Horses box set in a few record shops in the UK (HMV in Newcastle and Ayr). I have also been looking for the Stand Up elevated box set and have not found one in the UK. I was in Italy a few weeks ago and saw a copy in one of their shops but decided against it as it was around £50 uk pounds.
In answer to your question, I think these were probably intended as being limited edition issues but maybe they will re-issue the more popular albums (like thick as a brick) if the demand is there. You can buy the single CD Steven Wilson versions of these albums - without the books, 5.1 versions, different reproduction types, etc. I have seen copies of all of these albums at reasonable prices in the UK.
My advice is to do whatever you can to get copies of the albums while they are still available..

Hi gunner and a warm welcome to the JT Forum. I would guess that once the deluxe box set are all sold out, no more will be produced and the single CD versions along with the mp3 downloads will be the only ones on sale. I've had a look at the Burning Shed site and it seems most if not all of the older box set are now out of stock. burningshed.com/store/jethrotull?page=1

Thanks for your input. I emailed Burning Shed, and it is true - these box sets are strictly limited edition. Once they are gone, they are gone. Stevep = I cannot find the box set for "Thick As A Brick" as well. The others are all available to one degree or another through 3rd party sellers and what not, but the prices are starting to get out of hand. I would love to buy "War Child" while I can, but I need to start saving up for "The Broadsword And The Beast" which is going to be an amazing box set. It will be nice to get all of the outtakes in one place, plus anything else that might be lurking around in the vaults.
The problem with the box sets is the price and the fact that I don't own audio equipment to take advantage of the non-CD discs. But the remixed CD and the beautiful packaging is enough. I own the box for "A Passion Play," and the "booklet" is better than any booklet that is in any greatest hits/rarities career spanning box set that I possess. You really feel as if you were there making the album with the band. I even got nauseous when thinking about the poisonous soup the cook kept adding things to, including horse meat.

12.14.18 state side I have found songs from the woods country set offered by the online company fye. I too have had similar problems with Tull box sets. I don’t know why they just reduce the box set with cds only no book so we can get the music. I wonder when music might just be on thumb drives and not on cd. I just purchased a car no CD player in it lol. Any fye has the box set but it’s on back order now I don’t know why the would do such a thing if the box set was not discontinued all together. I was also able to put it in a shopping cart. I didn’t buy it yet being Xmas I have to find an empty credit card
