A happy new year to you all. Since some of you have been asking, I will not be joining Martin Barre on any future dates, as had been planned. I was only able to commit in part to the run of shows in the USA. Martin has made the decision to carry on the project without me. This is not entirely bad news as the legendary Dee Palmer has agreed to join the party and, to his own relief, the band's bass player will now not be playing keyboards.
All is well. Wishing you all a loving and peaceful 2019.
Jonathan

www.expressandstar.comLinkMartin Barre Band, Robin 2, Bilston - reviewBy Kirsten Rawlins | Music | Published: 22 hours ago Temperatures may have plummeted outside, but that didn't stop hundreds of adoring fans turning out to see Jethro Tull icon Martin Barre and his group. A regular at Bilston’s Robin 2, The Martin Barre Band is always impressive - and their sound last night was seemingly better than ever; tight, clear and without fault. The four piece’s set consisted of a variety of songs, ranging from blues to heavy rock, with some numbers from Jethro Tull’s repertoire, a Beatles cover and new material from the band itself. Birmingham guitar star Martin Barre, aged 72, was clearly in high spirits to once again be performing in the Midlands, but the outfit’s general glee to be playing was most delightful; made clear by their passion, enthusiasm, and animated stage presence. Live shows are clearly a labour of love for this band and they're always a pleasure to watch as as a result. But it's their musical talent which draws in the crowds year after year - and Martin’s tremendous skill on guitar was superb as ever, while singer Dan Crisp impressed with his wide-ranging, strong vocals and lively, often eccentric energy. “We’re happy to be back in the Midlands,” smiled Martin. “It's as close to home as I ever get. “Thank you so much for coming out to support us tonight.” My only complaint was I found the set to be a little less compelling than usual, and a hugely cut back rendition of Aqualung to end the show left me feeling a little underwhelmed. Numbers such as A Song For Jeffrey, Teacher, A New Day Yesterday and Locomotive Breath were all performed brilliantly however, and went down a treat. Overall a very good night and I look forward to seeing Martin and his band return to Midland music gem The Robin 2 sometime soon.

Fri, May 17th & 18th, 2019 8:00 pm The Wildey Theatre Martin Barre's 50 Years of Jethro Tull Celebration LINK In 1969, a band of four English musicians arrived in New York and literally took America by storm. Over the next 50 years, this legendary band accumulated over 65 million record sales and a following of loyal fans that are the envy of rock bands worldwide! This band was Jethro Tull.
At the center of Tull’s unique sound is guitarist Martin Barre. Renowned for his formidable mastery of historic riffs, power chords and soaring melodic solos. Martin is celebrating the fifty-year anniversary of Jethro Tull, with a ‘Tour of Tours’. An event to do justice to Tull’s amazing history.
He will be bringing a spectacular show with his touring band, featuring Dan Crisp on lead vocals, Alan Thomson on keyboard, Darby Todd on Drums, with Becca Langsford and Alex Hart on vocals. Plus, two very special guests – original drummer Clive Bunker and Dee Palmer; both of whom performed with Tull for many years and were an important part of their success.
The show will also feature a special multi-media presentation that, together with the music, highlights the 50 years of Jethro Tull musical career. This is the most significant Tull show of the past two decades, truly a very special concert that will do justice to the legend.

Giants Of Rock Kicks Out January Bluesby Edyta K | Live Reviews Some say that January is the longest month of the year. It’s mostly gloomy, thanks to the bad weather and sad look of your post-Christmas bank account. But, believe me, there is a remedy: Giants Of Rock, a three-day music festival in the heart of West Somerset, Minehead. As part of the Butlin’s Live Music Weekends, it offers three indoor stages, over 40 bands, and cozy accommodation (from budget-friendly caravans to luxury apartments) all at a seaside resort. Leave the camping gear and waterproofs at home. LinkMeanwhile at Reds, Martin Barre’s Jethro Tull almost filled the venue to capacity, pulling in the punters with a mix of Tull classics and his solo work. The gathered masses cheered and clapped along to hits like Steel Monkey and Teacher, as well as newer songs including Road Less Travelled.

www.yakimaherald.comFive Things to Do This WeekendPat Muir Feb 20, 2019 Updated 6 hrs ago Martin Barre of Jethro Tull fame is playing The Seasons Performance Hall on Saturday night. Photo courtesy of www.martinbarre.com■ Martin Barre 7:30 p.m. Saturday; The Seasons Performance Hall, 101 N. Naches Ave.; $40-$50; www.martinbarre.com, www.theseasonsyakima.com, 509-453-1888 Jethro Tull is a British band that got huge in the 1970s because people were briefly impressed by prog-rock flute playing and baroque lyricism. The band, led by flautist-songwriter-singer Ian Anderson, took itself very, very seriously despite being, you know, a band based on prog-rock flute playing and baroque lyricism. Its one redeeming feature was the guitar work of Martin Barre. While not my particular cup of tea stylistically, Barre’s playing is unquestionably top-of-the-line. You can hear that yourself at The Seasons. There will be a lot of Jethro Tull songs in the set, but if you’re into guitar rock that’s a price you’re going to have to pay. Link
