Not really a cool Tull pic but may be of interest to someone... I went to watch my home town football team play at Dunfermline on Saturday. On one of the walls in the away end, they had a mural showing famous people from Dunfermline. Ian Anderson is shown next to Barbara Dickson. By a strange coincidence both of these musicians were playing at the Sage in Newcastle last night (IA in Hall 1 and Dickson in Hall 2) It seems that both are also of similar age (Dickson born one month after Anderson).. wonder if they went to the same school.

A star is born: N.p. N.p. Circa 1970. Archive of ten black and white, double weight photographs, circa 1970, of Jethro Tull front man Ian Anderson performing onstage, apparently unpublished, by noted photographer Michael Montfort, from his estate. Born in Freiburg, Germany, Michael Montfort began his career working as a photojournalist for German magazines such as "Stern," "Quick," and "Bild am Sonntag." In addition to shooting numerous rock and jazz performances, he covered Queen Elizabeth's 1965 visit to Germany, the aftermath of the Six Day War in Israel and Egypt, and the May 1968 protests in Paris. Montfort emigrated to Los Angeles in 1973 and began working as a freelancer. Four years later, on assignment for the German literary magazine "Rogners," Montfort was sent to photograph Charles Bukowski. Aided by the case of wine he smartly brought with him to their first meeting, Montfort connected with the publicity-shy and splenetic poet. Over the next two decades, as both Bukowski's drinking buddy and personal photographer, he shot literary thousands of images of Bukowski and collaborated with him on titles such as "Horsemeat," "Shakespeare Never Did This," and "The Wedding." In addition to Bukowski, Montfort shot notable photographs of luminaries such as William S. Burroughs, Klaus Kinski, Brigitte Bardot, and a Jackson 5 era Michael Jackson. Photographs sized variously 8 x 11.75 inches (20.25 x 30 cm), 10 x 15.5 inches (25.5 x 39.5 cm), and 15.75 x 11.75 inches (40 x 30 cm). Large photos with irregular borders, image size slightly smaller. Slightly curled, else about Fine. [Book #136002] Price: $450.00 - See more at: link

I remember Ian wearing this hat on the 'Dot Com' tour. I'm not sure if he ever wore it on any other gigs but there again I am old. At least I think it was 'Dot Com'.

Shall we have a new thread titled 'Senior moments'?
