I tried to post this a few minutes ago and I think I lost it. If you find a similar thread from me somewhere else sorry.
I haven't posted here for a while and having difficulty finding my way round.
For those who don't know I am Ian Anderson's ex girlfriend from a long time ago and have been here sometimes to part with a little bit of ancient history.
Last Sunday 16/07/2017 my son in law (John Hogg) vocalist in a relatively new band called 'Magpie Salute' performed on the same stage as Ian Anderson.
I wonder if Ian saw Magpie Salute perform just before he stepped onto the same stage, as John saw Ian perform just after he stepped off.
They were at the Peer festival in Brussels. There are photos of them both which I would post here if I could.
Magpie Salute was bought together by Rich Robinson of the Black Crows. Met them a couple of months ago in London. A great night. Great music. Friendly down to earth people.
They are on tour all over until November
Thanks for listening
Yvonne xx

Thank you for downloading the photos. I did a bit of googling after posting and discovered 'Magpie Salutes' official video 'Omission'. Don't know if you can or want to download that. I think it's pretty good.
The thing that made me smile this week was remembering I/A telling me that he was unlikely to last longer than ten years as a musician. I think he was about 23 or 24 at the time.
Inspiring for us to to think about that.

I suppose for a billion reasons I would like Ian Anderson to hear this music but I don't suppose that is at all possible.

I suppose for a billion reasons I would like Ian Anderson to hear this music but I don't suppose that is at all possible. A quote from TULL Sound Technician @ Blues Peer about The Magpie Salute ... Emanuele Giovagnoli July 17 at 2:55pm · "Yesterday we shared the stage with these guys. I haven't seen or heard anything so cool for many many years!"

Wow!! Thank you so much for letting me know this High Sheriff. Thank you Emanuele Geovagnoli. I also felt the same when I saw them. Flew me back down the years. I will definitely let John know. Magpie Salute are touring for a long time. Perhaps to a venue near some of you guys. The tour dates and places are on the their web site and as usual I can't down load that.
Thank you again, your input means a lot.

I just showed John the amazing photo of himself posted here, which he hadn't seen and was as impressed as I was. It's quality, timelessness and theatricality. I wonder who the photographer is?
Then read your above comment to him, which made me smile for lots of reasons. I'm his mother-in-law by the way.

When I joined here in 2013 I was into many kinds of music as much as TULL... well almost After I arrived in Asheville I felt my chances of meeting John before the show were very slim as he was outside walking around the streets of Asheville enjoying a beautiful Sunday like anyone else. When we first met I could not believe I was able to connect so easily with him as a person. Most musicians or celebrities are very busy and just being able to enjoy some time with him made me very happy. I would love to see this group again in the future. You can count on it !!!

High Sheriff, Glad John was walking around the streets of Asheville, enjoying a beautiful Sunday like everyone else. Especially because at home he is generally snowed under with domestic chores.
Secretly Steel Monkey, I would be less than enthusiastic about my daughter and some musicians. John is an exception.
I think it's all those domestic chores he does.
