So after a Tull marathon I needed something quick and different to clean the palate. In the end it was VERY quick because the last two Dexys albums are not available on Spotify. Here's the latest Blog post. Madonna next. Dexys Odyssey

The Turtle's 'Battle of the Bands' is like a distant cousin to Zappa and Thick as a Brick. meant as a parody of a variety of genres...three of the songs ended up as successful hit singles. What could be more nascent Flo and Eddie than : Chief Kamaniwannalaya ?

Think yourselves lucky. I spared you Take That. From the bottom of my heart - THANK YOU I'll 'take that' (geddit?) as meaning you do want it . This is a companion blog. An attempt to straddle the generation gap by looking at stuff one or other of me and my 16 year old son doesn't care about much. In this case Mrs Rockodyssey picked the band. Our next project on this one are the three Bat Out Of Hell albums. Take That

All along you knew you had these weapons. ...pretty unfair Honeymoon Suite - All Along You Knew Great song from the album "The Big Prize" from 1986 by Honeymoon Suite. This song features guest musician Ian Anderson on the flute, the legendary frontman for Jethro Tull. - GordonYYZ

First time I heard that Honeymoon Suite tune with the flute, it was on the radio and I wasn't aware Ian had done that. My first reaction was that it was performed and recorded well, and if it's on the radio, that's a rare thing. There is more than one way to play the flute (standing on your head, under water, using harvest combine exhaust pipes, etc.) and unfortunately, once you leave the world of classical music, most flute is played either so timidly it sounds useless, or with so little tuneful character that it should be replaced with something like a sax or a better drummer. Most bands should just leave it alone, and the rest, give it a try. The rare occasional trips to Fluteland by Burton Cummings, Heart and The Moody Blues do just fine, they know what they are and aren't doing when playing the flute. Bravo. Now back to your regularly scheduled program, "How To Play The Flute" on "How To Do It", on BBC. If you catch that last reference, you win a free albatross T-shirt and can pick it up at the BBC Customer Relations Window, just tell them the secret winning word is "Niagara Falls". Tell us how it goes.

Wait...Honeymoon Suite and Saga on the same bill? And I missed it? Now I have to wait till the afterlife to experience hell? How the one band worse than Honeymoon Suite, to open for Tull, found it's way onto a tour with the worst band to ever open for Tull, is proof that God, Satan and/or poetic existence exist.

A certain Tull fan, who should have known better, actually went to see Honeymoon Suite at The Marquee Club when they toured here all those years ago and was most disappointed that IA didn't turn up. I can honestly say it wasn't me and I certainly wouldn't divulge the name of the person concerned. Unless of course, there's money concerned
