So was signing autographs part of the purchase of the ticket, or is it just something you feel you are owed over and above the advertised show? Nope - I've never asked for an autograph at any of the concerts I have attended previously. Just expected a level of courtesy which shows that (as a fan of almost 40 years) my contribution and attendance is at least partially appreciated. It took me a bit to respond, I was checking king through my Tull/Anderson/Barre collection, I am trying to find your specific contribution. No sign, maybe you can help and point me to it.

A Fantastic night at Winchester . We were very lucky and got front row seats and I got the centre aisle seat Went in and watched the sound check for a while in the afternoon. Ian was in good voice. Andrew lincoln couldn't make it that night, which was a bit disappointing. We were asked by the Rev George Pitcher not to video or take photos during the concert, but I had to take some at the end ......Sorry Ian. Photos are on the Jethro Tull Flicker Group as well. I spotted Ian has a new flute, only because he normally plays a low C foot joint flute and he now has one with the a Low B foot joint. One more note to play I said Hi to Mike Downs and sent regards from all and Jim Fantastic Ash and well worth posting again. Many thanks for your troubles... well if you can call it that

Hayley Weaver to Jethro Tull Fans... Met Ian Anderson just before the Winchester Cathedral concert. Wished I could've seen the concert itself, but did finally get to give him my Jack in the Green painting with him as Jack. What a gracious man. I will never get bored of hearing anything he plays.

By all accounts he played the show, most seemed have enjoyed it, just cause you see someone over the years does not give you ownership. What do you expect, invitation to dinner, guest shot on Walking Dead, get a grip.

Lovely painting and gesture by Hayley. I saw on her FB page that she says the Headmaster was very gracious and spent time with her. Maybe we should all start painting?

There really is no need for an attitude such as the above on this Forum, maybe other Tull sites but not here. Thanks for your co-operation.

I am sorry, a bit sarcastic perhaps, but I am really trying to understand where one goes from buying a ticket to a show and ownership of the performer. I have seen Till/Ian/Barre over 70 time back to 1972, and as such a greater "contribution". I don't mean to come across as nasty, but I still don't understand this guy expectations. If this forum is about discussion, I think that makes for a good thread, what does Ian owe the ticket buyer. Seems many expect more than realistically goes with the price of the ticket, certainly more than many expect of Barre. But I didn't mean to offend by clouding the issue with facts. But I will leave you with the question of what do we expect for the price of the ticket, renting the artist for 2 hours to play, or outright ownership?

Just expected a level of courtesy which shows that (as a fan of almost 40 years) my contribution and attendance is at least partially appreciated. I've noticed a change in Ian's availability since 2012. This was the last time I saw him sitting in a car with Shona driving after the TAAB 1&2 performance.
Probably due to problems he encountered on tour since then, I think he feels less likely to be in a less secure environment and tries to return to his room or hotel or wherever. Of course it's been a long year too. Maybe he has gotten to the point where staying up late makes him a little grumpy. When he sees people that are invited on a guest list or win tickets to the 'Meet & Greet', he may feel this has to be done from now on.
Recently in Atlanta, he was approached before the show by a few folks on the street and did give autographs. I had missed that moment by seconds but did not expect him to be with the band after the show.
Now it seems his autograph is more of an early marketing feature on a new album release. That makes sense. I ordered the double vinyl mainly because it would be the only album I have which is autographed. The last time I got the Deluxe Homo Erraticus it came with an autographed postcard from Burning Shed.

His visit to lower Basildon church in 2015 was just incredible and he was very willing to chat to one and all . I believe one of his issue's is folk getting the autograph and selling it on eBay. For me it's just a great opportunity to ask him a question and the autograph is a bonus.

Makes you wonder if the original designers of those churches had to think at some point, "you know if they get a lot of people singing in here getting the volume up, the reverb could be a problem at some point, so maybe we should design a Nerf Church to stop the echos and that crystalline ringing reverb that lasts for 45 seconds. What say, fellas?"

We're all for debate (on here) and you have a valid point in saying how much can we ask from a performer and do we have a right to autographs, meet and greet etc however we do like to keep the posts a bit more civil.

As far as the comments on Ian's "meet and greet" - autographs etc I agree with all the points already made about how he may have got a bit more cautious however I would not like to witness him being a grump and I know too from a very reliable source even way back in his career that he can have his difficult moments. But I have difficult moments in my workplace too and find it a challenge to rise to the occasion.
my work isn't as rewarding

Unnur Birna á hæsta tindi / Unnur Birna peak of LINK Jethro Tull. Unnur Birna Björnsdóttir violinist and singer, with Ian Anderson and the band Christmas concert Hallgrímskirkju. Photo / James Anderson The singer and violinist wife says Birna Björnsdóttir spoke about the rock opera Ian Anderson and Jethro Tull, his band, in Frankfurt, Germany recently. In the first of 100 performances Jethro Tull the Rock Opera, she had only been on the big screen and it was a completely new experience.
"It was really cool, very fun experience," says Unn, who played first violin with Ian Anderson in concert at the University since 2009. She played and sang in concert with him in Harpa, Hof in Akureyri in 2013 and Christmas Concert in Hallgrímskirkju recently.
Unnur Birna says they kept in touch by first impressions, and when he decided to write this opera for agricultural primary obligation editor Jethro Tull has he got up to go with Tull's wife. " "Why did you choose me?" I asked him, and then he answered that for a thought my English accent so fun!" Says UNNUR. Subsequently, she went to London for the recordings of the year and a half and has since been at home and follow the journey of the opera world, where she has been a result of a giant screen. "I just play the violin at once and sing other songs."
Extensive experience Participation in the opera has been a great experience. She recalls that before the rock opera was ready, she composed a song and made a video about it. It has been used as heating elements for the concert. The recordings for the opera has since been exceptional but the concert in Frankfurt was knocked everything out. "They are the biggest thing I've done so far," she emphasizes what work is varied and fun, but not long ago she recorded an album with Mountain brothers in Abbey Road-studio in London. "One day I play on retirement for greenhouses and soon after I reached the big stage with Ian Anderson of the opera in Frankfurt."
Unnur said that participation in the opera has attracted attention to themselves abroad. She receives fan mail from around and felt like a superstar in Frankfurt. "When I stepped on the stage mad packed hall and it was a strange feeling," she says. Adding that she had all round has been catered to her. "One man had the task of going to the store for me. Technology men had worked with me in the distance, and suddenly I was a "star" with them. I wrote of text on paper and it was pasted on the floor and the man who did it then asked to be allowed to do it in memory. I did not quite this end just at work and these are just ordinary men like others, Ian Anderson, too."
The opera will be released on DVD in the new year and were recording the concert at the old opera in Frankfurt. As a result, worked with and took a few songs on stage. She is preparing herself to publishing your own album, due out early next year. "When Opera comes out will be good to own content accessible because it supports what else and I continue to play and sing with Ian Anderson in the next project. And the second is the gig with my band Swing Kompania at Café Rosenberg in before Christmas."
