Florian is a very cool guy. Talented, visibly comfortable in his skin and apparently willing to hang on to the 'Ian Anderson's electric guitarist' gig for as long as the ride lasts. Ian chose well during that time period when it appeared Martin Barre's energy and interest were waning. Of course, we know what direction that trend took......

More than just classic blues LINK Once again the series "Live in the boiler house" succeeded in bringing a real heavyweight to Kolbermoor!Florian Opahle, a native of Rosenheim, who is always on his touring around the world, is always the guarantor of full halls, made station in his homeland. He brought along a hand-picked band, busy with friends and old friends, with whom he is currently on tour under the title "Blues Project". It was not allowed to be misled by this name because the concert offered more than just the classical blues. In addition, there were also classics of the rock and blues rock history on the program, and the band encouraged the audience to accompany them on their journey through the various stylistic trends in which the blues left their mark.
Already in the first numbers the class of Opahle's guitar playing was clear, which mastered the most difficult runs with impressive precision and outwardly absolutely effortlessly. Even an injured finger did not break. For classics like "Mary had a little Lamb" from Stevie Ray Vaughan to Jimi Hendrix's "Red House Blues", the bandleader had his extraordinary improvisational talents. The occasionally somewhat spongy sliding sound of the system compensated Opahle precisely and correctly, the communication with the band went effortlessly.
A particular highlight of the concert was the "Special Guest" of the Bamberg singer Stefan Porzel. He shone with almost all the vocal parts with his versatile voice, which he also led absolutely secure and powerful. To the delight of the audience, he tuned some of the Evergreens such as "Purple Rain," "Smoke on the Water," or David Bowie's "Heroes," which was particularly convincing with the modulation of volume and expression.
Traditionally in the background, but nevertheless omnipresent was the drummer Rainer Huber, who put a harmonious and effective brace around the entire band and the different instruments together. In some solo passages, he could be assured of the enthusiasm of the listeners by means of complicated, syncopated strings. Acoustic energy waste After the beginning of the second part, a well-placed acoustic energy drop from thrilling, multi-rock songs to quiet blues classics had been used, the keyboardist Stephan Weiser was responsible for the renewed "revival" of the program. His wide-ranging, mystical piano solo swung surprisingly and skillfully into the Pink Floyd anthem "Another Brick in the Wall". Mathias Hof on the bass ensured the often underestimated but important harmonic rounding off.
In the final numbers, the entire band was able to prove their skills, Florian Opahle shone with the well-known rocking performance of the Toccata in D minor by Johann Sebastian Bach, the fans of his time with "Jethro Tull" with Ian Anderson was known. In the end, the enthusiastic crowd demanded a huge amount of admissions, and after some massive rock interpretations, was rewarded with an exceptionally sensitive version of "Hey Joe" by Jimi Hendrix, to which singer Stefan Porzel once again proved his qualities.
Contrary to the spontaneous associations to the name "Blues Project" the program offered in the boiler house a detour far into the rock genre. The result was by no means a mere mixer, but a fine tuned sound experience.

OMG !!! LIVE in Ansbach, Germany !!! From 8 pm LINK In the evening we look forward to "OPAHLE's BLUES PROJECT"Blues Project is the formation around the guitarist Florian Opahle. The band plays this brand new, old-fashioned title from the genre Blues Rock and Progressive Blues/Rock. Opahle is a sought-after live and studying musician and music producer. He has been a lead guitarist for Ian Anderson (Jethro Tull) and his solo shows, and has also starred with musicians such as Greg Lake (Emerson Lake & Palmer, King Crimson), Chris Thompson (Manfred Mann's Earth Band), Justin Hayward (The Moody Blues) also.
Stefan Porzel - Vocals. A solid figure in the German music scene. Porzel has worked as a multi-instrumentalist with artists such as Spencer Davis Group, Pete York and others.
Rainer Huber at the drums works as a live- and studiomusiker in all stylistic directions, e.g. For Mano Ezoh and the world's largest gospel choir, Gil Ofarim's "Eight" and his own band "Big Pop Music". Huber teaches at drummers focus in Munich and writes workshops for drumming magazine "Drumheads !!".
Mathias Hof (bass) - known from radio and soul formations like OUT OF ROSENHEIM - will provide for the fat groove and a good pound of Bassfundament this evening. In addition to his work as a bass player, he works for tours as a FOH technician across Europe, to engagements in Russia, among others.
Stephan Weiser can be heard on the keyboards. He is active as a live and studiomusician for numerous productions. As a big figure in the Munich scene, he was on tour with Claudia Koreck, among others, and performed with Stefan Raabs "TV total" and Bundesvision Song Contest. With his projects (Stephan Weiser Trio, Domber / Weiser Dup, Popzone), he performs at home and abroad.
A thrilling and exclusive evening of this "Powerhouse" and one of the few concerts of a special musical formation.

For the past 37 years I've tried to get my Daughter to embrace the music of Jethro Tull and failed, until now. She's taken up playing guitar so I've shown her a couple of video's of Florian Opahle and, at last, I think she's a fan of sorts. This what she told me in an email............ "Ask Florin if I can have a lend of his Gibson and all ten fingers especially his pinkie, mine doesn't work.....cheers father. Tell him he's my new favourite human." I'll keep plugging away.
