kultura.zpravy.idnes.cz/i [ another google prime cut ] REVIEW: A little concert, a little film. But the music of Jethro Tull prevailed30 January 2016 11:44 kultura.zpravy.idnes.cz/ian-anderson-jethro-tull-the-rock-opera-d9r-/hudba.aspx?c=A160130_104854_hudba_vhaJethro Tull The Rock Opera Ian Anderson Place of performance: Forum Karlín, Prague January 29, 2016 Rating: 70% Honestly, it could have a big ecological propaganda, but fortunately it did not happen. Ian Anderson of Jethro Tull staged in Prague's Karlin Forum, a rock opera. Despite the canvas with the story and virtual guests throughout the evening was built mainly on the great music. On Saturday, a reprise in Ostrava Gong. Many were perhaps a surprise, this is not a normal concert, or on an evening recounting the story of the famous band, because the rock opera "listener through life band Jethro Tull" claimed the last moment, for example, the Web Forum Karlin. Well in advance it might seem that ADVISED virtual guests are just a trick to save on tour for a live vocalist, but fortunately on the screen behind the band happened a lot more vocal though obviously played an important role. Anderson had decided after many years to rehabilitate the real Jethro Tull, an old English farm inventor whose name British band in the late sixties, more or less coincidentally borrowed and had her left. The inventor of the seed drill carried into the near future, so overpopulated mankind saved from starvation. Involved in the story as classic hits Jethro Tull and his solo songs, four musicians on stage and the aforementioned three singers in roles on screen. Some viewers were initially a little confused maybe, they get only a summary greatest hits, because the choice of songs was still adapted the story. But he watched a few, because honestly trampling, well-oiled and solid rock sounding band in front thanks to a little music pulling in attention to themselves. Thank God. Because then it could concentrate on the songs rather than the nuances of the story about saving the planet, who led the audience in Oxford, here in the wide region of Tuscany. The second reason why many from the screen rather disengaged, the eagerness with which the audience looked out the famous stones Jethro Tull. Vainglory, the applause that came first tones of the eagerly awaited song Aqualung was up liberating. As if he fell off a piece of power. In the second half already more applause. During the evening, the songs sounded like Songs From the Wood, Living in the Past or Locomotive Breath. Anyway, it is necessary to appreciate Anderson inventiveness that neobjíždí world with just a "best of" program. Performers on canvas extra frontman, who supplied the evening juice especially his flute, richly reinterpret them. On the other hand, the greatest hits and nothing but the greatest hits would be what would be most appreciated by the audience. Yet perhaps viewers do not leave disappointed, because musically it actually had an error. On Saturday evening, the same program will introduce in Ostrava Gong. Author: Václav Hnátek

Smoke, steel, coal mines, industry, Tull fans......easy day trip to concerts in Czech Republic. There appears to be a Silesia region in the Czech Republic too. Very close to Ostrava. To avoid further confusion, I will use Czech names: Čechy (Bohemia), Morava (Moravia), Slezsko (Silesia). TULL LINK

Makes sense that the enlightened and rock savvy Czechs have the coolarity to love and honor Tull. It's well known how popular Zappa, Dylan and Lou Reed were when they were still behind the iron curtain...so it's not a surprise that they have the smarts, attention span and right-in-the-headedness to appreciate our guys.

Jethro Tull (band) musicians to celebrate Jethro Tull (agriculturalist) at Smith CenterLAS VEGAS (KSNV News3LV) — The name of iconic rock group Jethro Tull was the result of pure chance. The name was chosen by their booking agents' staff during a time when the struggling group constantly changed their name to continue playing in London Clubs. One such staff member was something of a history buff, naming them after the 18th-century inventor of many widely-used agricultural techniques. According to frontman Ian Anderson in an interview with Billboard, he didn't know who they were named after at first. "I never paid much attention in history class, so I didn't realize we'd been named after a dead guy until a couple of weeks later," Anderson said in the interview. But the name stuck after a club manager asked the band to return. And now Anderson, along with musicians that toured with the Jethro Tull during the 2000s, hahve been a rock opera that honors the now-defunct band's namesake. Jethro Tull: The Rock Opera, according to a press release sent by the Smith Center, "re-imagines his namesake with a narrative set in the near future." It will feature both classic Jethro Tull songs with slightly re-written lyrics, along with new material written for the show that "touches on topical issues including climate change, intensive food production and population growth." Tickets start at $31 and will be on sale to the public on Friday, Feb. 19 at 10 a.m. at the Smith Center for the Performing Arts. The full press release can be read below: ### LAS VEGAS (Feb. 10, 2016) - Danny Zelisko Presents the wonderful JETHRO TULL: Written & Performed by Ian Anderson at The Smith Center for the Performing Arts on Friday, Oct. 14 at 8 p.m. Ian Anderson celebrates the life and times of English agriculturalist Jethro Tull in this new concert tour. Anderson is known as the legendary frontman for the classic rock band Jethro Tull and re-imagines his namesake with a narrative set in the near future. The show presents some of the best known songs from the repertoire of the band Jethro Tull. In JETHRO TULL, Anderson touches on topical issues including climate change, intensive food production and population growth. New material specially written for this show includes "Prosperous Pasture," "Fruits Of Frankenfield," "And The World Feeds Me," "Stick, Twist, Bust," and "The Turnstile Gate." JETHRO TULL features amongst many Tull favorites "Heavy Horses," "Farm On The Freeway," "Songs From The Wood," "Aqualung," "Living In The Past," "Wind-Up," "A New Day Yesterday," "The Witch's Promise" and "Locomotive Breath," sometimes with slightly re-written lyrics to better tell the tale. The show has previously played in the UK, Italy, Spain, Russia, Brazil, Argentina and the US to widely encouraging reviews. The Oakland Press writer Gary Graff offers: "A characteristically exceptional Tull concertentertaining and original." Anderson is accompanied by David Goodier (bass), John O'Hara (keyboards), Florian Opahle (guitar), Scott Hammond (drums) and surprise virtual guests on screen including Ryan O'Donnell who shared the stage with Anderson in recent tours for HOMO ERRATICUS and THICK AS A BRICK and Icelandic singer/violinist/actress Unnur Birna Björnsdóttir who appears on screen throughout the show. In addition to U.S. dates in April and October 2016, JETHRO TULL will be performed by Ian Anderson in Czech Republic, Sweden and Germany plus more cities and countries to be announced. Ian Anderson rediscovers Jethro Tull“It’s rather a team effort that happily goes on. Our regular bass player David Goodier had to take a leave of absence last year, and it was quite traumatic when you suddenly have to work with a strange face and 10 strange fingers playing ostensibly perhaps the same lines of music but with their own little idiosyncratic way of interpreting the music. In a way, that kind of change might have been invigorating sometime during the last 48 years, but you get to a point where you’d rather stick with the same people now that we’re on the home stretch. There’s not that much longer to go on this ride,” he says. Those who have enjoyed Anderson on his previous forays to Israel know that the ticket for that ride is well worth taking. ‘Jethro Tull – The Rock Opera’ will be presented on February 24 and 25 at the Tel Aviv Performing Arts Center; and February 26 at the Congress Center in Haifa.
