Minstrel In The Gallery 40th Anniversary La Grandé Edition (2CD/2DVD) Singleforums.stevehoffman.tv/threads/jethro-tull-minstrel-in-the-gallery-expanded-april-2015.411275/www.quadraphonicquad.com/forums/showthread.php?19846-Jethro-Tull-Minstrel-in-the-Gallery-Remix-Nextwww.musictap.net/2015/02/02/wilson-remix-of-minstrel-in-the-gallery-by-jethro-tull-expected-in-april/In September of 2014, some tweeted “I hope…” that Steven Wilson’s next remix project would be Jethro Tull‘s 1975 classic, Minstrel In the Gallery. Well, it looked as if that hope came to fruition as we now are aware that the 40th Anniversary of Minstrel In the Gallery will be releasing on April 28 (US). In the Jethro Tull catalog, Minstrel In The Gallery follows War Child, which was recently released as a 40th Anniversary Edition as a Steven Wilson remix extravaganza. For the upcoming Minstrel In The Gallery remix, there will be a single CD reissue, as well as a vinyl LP release, and a fan set La Grandé with 2CDs and 2DVDs. The single CD issue will offer fourteen tracks, eight more than the original. The vinyl LP version will likely offer only the original eight. The Box will a book-style (like War Child), and feature an 80-page book with photos, an extensive history of the creation and recording of Minstrel In The Gallery, liner notes, and a host of other goodies. The 2CD/2DVD La Grandé set will present the following track-listing: CD1: 01. Minstrel In The Gallery 02. Cold Wind To Valhalla 03. Black Satin Dancer 04. Requiem 05. One White Duck 06. Baker St. Muse 07. Grace 08. Summerday Sands 09. Requiem 10. One White Duck 11. Grace 12. Minstrel In The Gallery-BBC Version 13. Cold Wind To Valhalla-BBC Version 14. Aqualung CD2: 01. Introduction 02. Wind Up 03. Critique Oblique 04. Wond ring Aloud 05. My God 06. Cross-Eyed Mary 07. Minstrel In The Gallery 08. Skating Away On The Thin Ice Of The New Day 09. Bungle In The Jungle 10. Aqualung 11. Guitar Solo 12. Back-Door Angels 13. Locomotive Breath Other highlights from this multi-disc set include the obvious adds: – Original album and seven bonus tracks (six previously unreleased), two mixed to 5.1 surround, and all to stereo by Steven Wilson – Flat transfers of the original LP mix at 96/24 (plus Summerday Sands ) – Flat transfer of the original quad mix of the LP (plus Summerday Sands ) – An eight-minute film of the band performing Minstrel In The Gallery in Paris from July 1975 Now, we can only hope that we continue to see Jethro Tull remix projects coming to realization with Steven Wilson at the helm. Next up would be the 1976 set, Too Old To Rock and Roll, Too Young To Die!. For me, I want the path to continue, at least to 1977’s brilliant Songs From The Woods. I’m pretty confident that we will see a 40th Anniversary project of that album soon enough. Enjoy! Minstrel In The Gallery 40th Anniversary La Grandé Edition (2CD/2DVD) Single

Minstrel In The Gallery 40th Anniversary La Grandé Edition (2CD/2DVD) Single I've said before that Minstrel's never been one of my favourite albums but as 28th April is my birthday I may be tempted to ask for this remix as my no 1 prezzy.

Thanks Tootull by these new great news, I can see that not there are DVD MITG live in Paris 1975 complete concert as many people have been long time saying and insinuating his release for the 40th anniversary. I will reserve my opinion about this alleged video to not take advantage about this non-news

I've said before that Minstrel's never been one of my favourite albums but as 28th April is my birthday I may be tempted to ask for this remix as my no 1 prezzy. Same here - MITG not birthday. We should have a Tull sanctuary somewhere like BV Islands or Cornwall at a push where we could have a 3 day break for yoga and Tull therapy. Sitting in a circle contemplating those unfamiliar or indifferent albums and coached by gurus as to the whole transcendental Tull experience that we just can't "get". Clothes- compulsory!

Must say that I am a tad disappointed with the indifference given to MITG by a few of out moderators. I do believe that some Tull therapy is needed for aforementioned moderators. I'll lead the one to one and/or group sessions if required. I promise not to use powerpoint and get too pissed doing it OneBlackSatinDuck

Minstrel In The Gallery would be an ideal excuse to remix music. It's an album with every kind of Tull talent on display, with loads of creative depth and detail, every kind of instrumental tone and blending going on. The orchestral work is also very well blended in. Baker Street Muse remixed? Can't wait to hear it. The two quieter acoustic songs: time to enjoy the acoustic guitar and finesse of the orchestral additions, with a great sense of space, depth and quality that a remix and higher sample rate than CD can offer. The punchy tunes on Side 1 will be great once remixed for maximum depth of detail. When the album was released, a musician I know said, "nice to see Tull back doing what they should be doing", meaning getting away from the pop tune structures and back into developing tunes as a performance band, to the Nth degree. I could listen to MITG right through simply for the drumming. Then again for the acoustic guitar. Then again for the electric guitar work. Then again for the keyboards. The sound will be so clear on the remix you'll be able to see the clock on the wall when you hear "I can't get out!". Anyone who isn't a huge fan of Minstrel In The Gallery needs to return their Britney Spears records to the cafe and put some quality music on your iPod while you walk through London some evening between Blandford Street and Mars. Cheers, you radicals! So Tull fans, what time do you think it was, when the engineer heard "I can't get out!" ??

A well thought out post sir - MITG is, at least for me, an exceptional album and one that I visit many times and I hope the new version does justice to the original which I just reckon it might. Probably around 3 in the morning when everybody else had gone home for a cup of Horlicks and a bun

My response to upcoming MITG extravaganza so extreme that I became awestruck and paralyzed with joy. From the typing pool goes the mini skirted princess with GREAT finesse.

I promise not to use powerpoint and get too pissed doing it OneBlackSatinDuck As "One White Duck" is on the album and you've been so kind to offer a "Minstrel in the Gallery" counselling session, I've given it another play and to my surprise I liked most of the album, so now I'm thinking the reason I wasn't so keen on it is I'm not fussed with the title track so if I skip that then it's back on my Tull favourite album list. I hope that cures your disappointment.

Nice one John. There have been times when I have drifted away from MITG side 1 but I saw the light and returned. If I were hypercritical Black Satin Dancer sometimes dosn't quite do it for me but it is still a great track! I'll put the session on hold and maybe just maybe Patti Non Rabbit will convert over. There again I'll keep quiet in case she tells me off.
Can I sneak in 'Rhymney Brewery' - google it - top beers( although I drink lager )

Although I love the title track, yeah, I usually listen to this album skipping the title track. A more relaxing experience. Feel the emotion. Love the acoustic guitars. An extra slice of Duck for all. 05. One White Duck 06. Baker St. Muse 07. Grace 08. Summerday Sands 09. Requiem 10. One White Duck

The word is spreading. An email from a twitter x2 Pick-up lines at Doctor Who Con: "I think Ian Anderson of Jethro Tull should have played the Doctor. MINSTREL IN THE GALLIFREY." I think the shyness or the slightly withdrawn part of his nature stopped him. Having said that if he had done a Sylvester McCoy or some stereotypical flute- playing loon in Harry Potter or LOTR's it would have made a dent in his coolness and enigma.

So we have great news here...
Anyone any guesses to the reference on the the box set title "La Grande edition"? I understand "extended edition" on APP and "theatrical edition" for the Warhcild, but which is the reference here..?
Let's hope IAN in the book will explain that the 8 minutes Minstrel video is a teaser for the whole DVD (blu ray??) of the show which will be released separately later in the year... Do you remember that in the TAAB 2 booklet notes, he announced the release of the 2 LP vinyl combo for TAAB and TAAB 2? :-)

They were, very briefly, living in French speaking part of Switzerland and recorded in Monte Carlo/ Monaco ?

I'd hope he didn't trim the My God segment for Paris..
