Well I have had 31, 32 and 35 since the seventies I think, the Tull and/or Chrysalis having hoodwinked us into buying best of records that had on them then unreleased tracks and a fairly cool poster in one. Record Collector has long excelled at what they do, but I must think the onset of the internet cannot have been a friend to them. Have always been curious what the dance mix of the relatively lame studio track of LITP might have sounded like, I suspect it could make me angry.

Have always been curious what the dance mix of the relatively lame studio track of LITP might have sounded like, I suspect it could make me angry. It's hellish...IA's vocal line is chopped up and reassembled to fit a 4:4 time sig. Something like: and I'm happy, and I'm smiling, and I'm living, in the past, repeated many times. Horrible.

Have always been curious what the dance mix of the relatively lame studio track of LITP might have sounded like, I suspect it could make me angry. It would indeed make you very angry It's a bit grim, I can't imagine who it was aimed at when it was released. I do remember one of the 4 mixes being a bit acousticy and not actually that bad, but maybe that's just my fading memory and it was just the best of a bad bunch. I'll have to dig it out and play it now. (The things I put myself through for you! ) 30 - 21 30. The Story Of Jethro Tull (Chrysalis/ RCA CHM 1383 France 1981) £15 29. Thought the Record Collector article was short on a lot of the rare stuff but still any write up is welcome. The recent Mojo article was quite good though.

This short Q & A with Ian Anderson is from the December issue of Record Collector from 2007.
TULL THE LINE Jethro Tull are touring and recording a new studio album that should be wrapped by March 2008. RC communed with lan Anderson to see how things are going.
"We're finishing the world tour we started in 1968," he informs us. "We did several days recording in February and the new LP is about half-way done. But it won't be finished until next year".
Is there anything unreleased In the archive? Yes, but not even nearly finished. Nor will it ever be!
Who would you like to play with? My new kitten, but he seems to have attached himself to my wife during my absence on tour.
What was the first record you bought? Johnny Duncan & The Bluegrass Boys' Last Train To San Fernando.
What was the last CD you bought? Aitara, by the Finnish folk group, Varttina.
What's your favourite record ever? Beethoven's 9th Symphony - a crowning achievement from a tower of composing excellence.
What's the most interesting/valuable record in your collection? They're all MP3s. Except the lacquer test pressings of Tull vinyl records from the 70s and 80s.
What fact about you would surprise fans? That I have a bent little finger on my right hand, making it difficult to play musical instruments. That's my only excuse and I'm sticking to it.
Have you any unfulfilled ambitions? To write a brilliant first novel and lead my country out of a disastrous foreign policy when I become Prime Minister in 2012.
Which band would you like to have played in? Status Quo - not musically or physically too demanding if you wear earplugs and a hernia belt.
Tell us something you've never told anyone before about yourself. Six-and-a-quarter inches.
What would you change about the past? The name of the band I play in.
What would you like to change about yourself? That little finger on the right hand. And maybe the six-and-a-quarter inches.

Latest edition of Record Collector (August 2013, no 417 with Pink Floyd on the cover) has a rather fine article on the group Clouds who during part of their existence were produced by none other than Terry Ellis.
Also a feature on The Pretty Things.

Next month the edition of Record Collector #420, which will be on sale 10 October '13, will have an article on Tull. I'm assuming at this stage it will be the piece written by Martin Webb about A Passion Play featuring comments by "the headmaster".
One to look out for.
