Why did you post the TV screen test pattern from 1968 ? It's there because you requested it. ?? Ostensibly motionless, the steelmonkey was trembling with excitement, for without his spectacles he was completely helpless. Where were his spectacles? Could someone have stolen them? Had he mislaid them? What was he to do? Bee wanted to help, and thinking he had the answer began: "You probably ate them thinking they were a carrot.'' "No!'' interrupted Owl, who was wise. "I have good eye-sight, insight, and foresight. How could an intelligent monkey make such a silly mistake?''

Why did you post the TV screen test pattern from 1968 ? Funny thing Bernie. It's your first lesson in building a current system. I believe that is per request. For future reference.

Oh...it only looked like what was on TV when it went to sleep at night when i was a little one....I thought if I looked at it long enough and waited, they would play the star spangled banner and resume programming.

If you looked at it long enough and had any patience, Jimi Hendrix at Woodstock in Lexicon/logic7 would wrap your mind in old glory. It happens here all the time, even in Ontario, eh. Matter of fact, Tull in Lexicon/logic7 (7.1) could be a lesson for another day. For in home and automotive use: (added link) www.automotive.harmankardon.com/en/innovations/logic7.aspx

I love reading anything that Dee writes - always interesting and eloquent. Thanks 10cars for posting. Everyone should click and read - a gem! "The record company didn't like it when we sat in the studio and played it for Terry Ellis he said well, what I think we should do is to get DP (?) with Shirley Bassey to sing this lot......Terry was sitting in his business suit making commentary on a body of work we had been working on for a long time, questioning music that was exploratory and not just banging out the same riff......he wanted another Aqualung..." Brilliant!

New Edition reminded me what a HUGE relief it was to hear 'Back Door Angels' soon after digesting 'Bungle' as first post-APP Tull.

New Edition reminded me what a HUGE relief it was to hear 'Back Door Angels' soon after digesting 'Bungle' as first post-APP Tull. I agree with Bernie... In 1974 and '75, radio stations played "Bungle" and "Skating Away" all the time. Top 40 TULL
I was jamming on all of it with my trusty 8 track cassette and preferred the "Back Door Angels" best

Shirley Bassey adding some sort of theatric spice would have been interesting on a Warchild song or two if they had actually staged the original storyline. I can see that. Visceral and eloquent, walking out of a bomb shelter to serve the cause of resilience and getting a job at the zoo training sealions?

Anyone have comments on the 24/96 versions of this album, or any Tull so far, released in 24/96, relative to a gain in detail and intensity?

Benefit gains the most to date. Yes I'd agree with that TT. I'm a big big fan of the latest Steven Wilson Re-Mixes. OWD

Thanks for the responses on the 24/96 topic. One reason I am curious, is because with remixing of music originally intended for vinyl exclusively, it's a chance to release and work with, more dynamic range. Most people maybe didn't notice, but vinyl typically had a volume dynamic range of about 60db (decibels), between the loudest and quietest sounds, and CDs boosted that range up to around 90 db. So if we're going to remix music originally processed and mixed to a 60db standard environment, there's a chance for the engineers to "expand" the signal back to a full 90db range at minimum, which could have an enormous impact on the tones, as compression can be greatly reduced. By shifting the resolution up to 24/96, the chance of capturing the original quality of tones goes way up again. 32/198 would be cool, but maybe we can wait for a few weeks for that to happen. LOL
Compression can be used both as a general volume balancer or as a mixing agent to allow instruments to be better mixed and heard properly and consistently, but excess compression affects tonal quality and clarity as well. Spaciousness and quality of reverb effects can be easily and greatly damaged by compression. Radio is also another avenue where they greatly add compression, even to regular music, they compress it even more as standard procedure. I want to hear each channel with the least compression possible, with the maximum richness of tone, sustain, reverb and artistic application as possible. Compression, used with artistic flair, can help assure those are ideally presented and not lost, but compression in records made for pre-CD days, caused a lot of it to be lost somewhere between the microphone and the mastering studio.

Read more: link-Jethro Tull: Back to Basics (Sort Of) By Sean Murphy 20 March 2015Jethro Tull, again? It’s Steven Wilson’s fault. Actually, it’s Jethro Tull’s fault. That is, the fact that we have yet another deluxe reissue of another Jethro Tull album has everything to do with the fact that this was one of most productive and consistently excellent bands, progressive or otherwise, all through the ‘70s. So in this regard, it’s not Jethro Tull’s fault that we’re getting a new reissue each year because, back in the day, they were knocking off classic albums every year.

Checked the Guinness book of world records to see if there was any motivation for anyone to see how many web forums he or she can be deleted from...found nothing so not sure what new Swedish guy's reason is for joining us and promptly besieging us with dares and requests to make him feel unwelcome....bizarre...I guess it takes all kinds and the internet is the place to prove the diversity of the world. Anyway, we are not going to delete you...we need to keep track of all the Tull fans on the planet in case current or former members need blood transfusions in their old age. We know where you are, we know your blood type.
