This place is still being built as we speak... Tobin Center starting to take shape www.mysanantonio.com/news/local_news/article/Tobin-Center-starting-to-take-shape-3994669.php Behind a chain-link fence that surrounds the Tobin Center for the Performing Arts, hammering, grinding and drilling echo throughout.
Cranes move tons of steel used to reinforce the auditorium and the 120-foot-tall metal veil that will be placed atop the building's historic façade. Workers balance on steel beams high above the ground, laboring to assemble the auditorium's shell, which should be complete by May.
It has been more than a year since work started on the $203 million renovation. Although the project looks to be just inching along, it is still on target to be completed by May 2014, with an opening date four months later, said J. Bruce Bugg Jr., president and chairman of the Bexar County Performing Arts Center Foundation.
Along with the construction, fundraising continues to progress. So far, 67 percent of the $54 million goal has been raised, and the foundation has moved past soliciting corporate benefactors and is reaching out to the public for donations.

Prog rock icon Ian Anderson pays a visit to Brighton www.theargus.co.uk/leisure/music/11170617.Prog_rock_icon_Ian_Anderson_pays_a_visit_to_Brighton/?ref=rss&utm_medium=twitter&utm_source=twitterfeed...... That said he is happy to trawl the archives for some old favourites in the second half – including some songs which haven’t seen the light of day in almost 40 years.
“A couple are among the most popular songs we had but we never played them live on stage,” he says.
“I have to overcome my own uneasiness about those songs – not necessarily musically but lyrically. As a songwriter, I don’t feel they’re near my best, so I try to concentrate on the bits of the songs I do like and am proud of.
“In my old age I’m more capable of putting up with my old feelings of the past – obviously they sounded good to me at the time!”

A true story from Judith in Shreveport, Louisiana This made me very happy! Hey Jim...just thought I'd update you.
Could never manage to obtain a promo code for the San Antonio show. Sooo I stayed up ALL NIGHT so I would not miss out on the box office opening at 10:00am today. I started calling at 9:55am. Got voice mail until straight up 10:00am.
Must have been either no one in line before me or else I was second. The gal asked, "do you know where you'd like to sit?" WHAT??? Do I know where I'd like to sit...yep, Ian's lap. lol That ain't happening so I guess I'll settle on front row. And ladies and gents, that's what I have.
Oh yes, life can't get much better! On 09-26 Austin City Limits 2nd row, and on 09-27 San Antonio 1st row..........PRICELESS! Had to share with you.
