Za doprovodu více než dvou desítek členů PKF - Prague Philharmonia nabídl především originální předělávky děl Johanna Sebastiana Bacha a své domovské kapely Jethro Tull. Autor: ČTKKoncert zahájila skladba Living in the Past z alba Jethro Tull Stand Up z roku 1969. Ten se mimo jiné blýskl moderní úpravou Bachova Prelude in C Major. Kytarista Florian Opahle zase sklidil aplaus za svoji ‚metalovou' verzi Bachovy Toccaty and Fugue in D Minor. Zazněly oblíbené hity jako Thick as a Brick, Too Old to Rock ‚n' Roll: Too Young to Die nebo Aqualung, mezi které Anderson vložil píseň Pastime with Good Company složenou králem Jindřichem VIII. na začátku 16. století. Ian Anderson každoročně absolvuje na stovku koncertů, o neutuchající oblibě u českého publika svědčí skutečnost, že každé jeho zdejší vystoupení je zpravidla vyprodané. dnes 10:00 Autor: ČTK Prague concert Ian Anderson sounded Bach and Jethro TullPrague - The British singer, musician and songwriter Ian Anderson on Tuesday, nearly filled the Prague Congress Centre comforted by linking rock with blues and classical music. Accompanied by more than two dozen members of the PKF - Prague Philharmonia offered mostly remakes of original works of Johann Sebastian Bach and his band Jethro Tull home. The concert launched the song Living in the Past album of Jethro Tull Stand Up 1969. The founder and leading figure in the world famous band, who from her first appearance in 1968 in London, played more than 3,000 concerts in 40 countries, despite the crowded stage ripping from the beginning attention on himself. With typical flute in hand, he places such as Cheap Day Return songs, exchanged for mandolin, running around the stage, joking and in a familiar position of playing on one leg. The members of the PKF - Prague Philharmonia Anderson was accompanied by four-piece band, in which he excelled keyboardist and conductor John O 'Hara. He is, among other things flashed a modern twist by Bach Prelude in C Major. Guitarist Florian Opahle again harvested applause for her, metal 'version of Bach's Toccata and Fugue in D Minor. Bach bourrée symphony orchestra Before the break Anderson enthusiastic audience gave a favorite Bach bourrée. "Jethro Tull with my own ears heard it many times, but the symphony orchestra's got another dimension," said one of the satisfied audience. In the second part of the program was mainly to Jethro Tull songs. There were popular hits such as Thick as a Brick, Too Old to Rock 'n' Roll: Too Young to Die or Aqualung, among which Anderson put the song Pastime with Good Company, composed by King Henry VIII. at the beginning of the 16th century. Ian Anderson Graduate annually to hundreds of concerts, the enduring popularity among Czech audiences evidenced by the fact that each of its local performances are usually sold out. I am currently working in Milan and have tickets for the concert tomorrow night at the strange sounding Ciak linear 4. I will try and remember to make a note of the set list and get a few photos if I can.
This is the concert venue that Martin Barre played at last year though I think it was with some other bands also.

That Kongresové Centrum Praha looks like a huge theatre. They could hold a farm seeding equipment fair at the same time as the concert, with room to spare.

Excellent concert in Milan last night. Apparently the theatre seats 2400 people and it seemed almost full. A very good turnout by an appreciative audience. David Goodier was missing from the group. He was replaced by a guy who I think was called Greg Robertson. It seemed even Ian anderson forgot his name as he introduced the band at the end of the show, He said a big thanks to Greg (long long pause) Robertson. The replacement looked like he was playing from written music and he did a good job - sounded as good as always to me.
The first part of the concert was the HE set list but only 6 of the 15 songs were played from the album: "Doggerland', "Enter the Uninvited", "The Engineer", "Tripudium Ad Bellum", "Browning" and 'Cold Dead Reckoning". I am not sure that the HE video presentation made any sense as a result but I don't think that mattered. I noticed that they had translated the words on the screen into Italian though so a plus for effort. The concert then moved into the "Best of" set list with an intermission after the first four or five songs. The set list is not in order but they played "Nothing is Easy", "Living in that Past", "Bouree", "Mother Goose", "Cross eyed Mary", 'Thick as a Brick part", "Too Old to Rock", "Sweet Dreams", 'Teacher", "Critique Oblique", "My God", "Aqualung" and "Locomotive Breath".
The music was excellent as normal but Ian Anderson struggled with his voice on a number of the songs. What seemed a bit strange (to me anyway) was that he sounded good on some on the songs he often struggles with (parts of TAAB and Aqualung for example). He sounded poor on "Enter the Uninvited" though. My wife and friend with also mentioned that Ryan O'Donnell's voice did not sound right. i thought his microphone was set too low but my wife's view was he must have had a bad cold. The voice thing did not stop it being an excellent show though and I am just amazed at how much effort IA puts in.
My personal view is that "Teacher" was the best of the songs performed and it is one I have never been that keen on. I had the same view after the Brescia show too. I like it that the live show can change your views of a song. I remember having my view changed on the "Sleeping with the dog" song when it was performed live.
Anyway, a great show and I have another chance to see the group at the Sage in Newcastle in September. I first saw Tull in Edinburgh on the War Child tour in 1974 and was knocked out by them. Great to think (if slightly worryingly) that 41 years later we can still see Tull music performed so professionally in many locations around the world. Us Tull fans are certainly a lucky bunch of people...

Many thanks for that update Steve glad you enjoyed it. Good to hear that the concert was full. Interesting to read about his voice and it is strange how he can sound better on some songs and then different on others. Ryan posted on his FB page that he left a whistle in England so maybe he was still recovering from a boll**ing from the Headmaster

There was no mention of why David Goodier was missing, just that Greg Robertson was standing in for him.
One thing I forgot to add was that the band really looked like they were enjoying themselves including Ian Anderson. For example, IA said that he would only play "teacher" if Ryan O'Donnell did a hippy dance with him in the middle of the song. They did do a hippy dance of sorts..
I know that these scenes things are all set up in the concerts but the band looked like they enjoyed being on tour just now.

Could that place be any more beautiful!!
He's a lucky so and so getting to see places like this every year. I know he's not ambling round the place with a large polystyrene goblet from Starbucks but he must at least have a glimpse from the passenger side of the car.

Old Webby writes (for it is he): Re stevep's review of the Milan show, the bass player covering David Goodier's temporary unavailability is Greig Robinson, a mate of Scott Hammond. He also did the three shows in Wuppertal and the one in Prague.

blog.quotidiano.net/degidi/2015/04/19/jethro-tull-ancora-qui-e-ian-stupisce-ancora/Jethro Tull, ancora qui. Too old to rock and roll too young to die', 'Nothing is easy', 'Sweet dream', 'Bouree'. Jethro Tull, still here. And Ian still amazesI'll tell you, I have just returned from a concert of Jethro Tull. Yes, they are still alive. And were not all bad, the last time I saw them 20 years ago and left me in the mouth tastes worse. This time was two hours and especially pleasing cleverly calibrated: the first part focuses on the last cd, the honest but negligible 'Homo erraticus', and then away with the old hits. Surprising, because the old Ian Anderson has 68 years, and if the voice holds up to a certain point, the stage presence is always that of a young man. The soul by actor never leaves him, with the flute he plays on one leg, as 40 years ago. To lighten a little ', it brings to the stage a singer shoulder, so it less tiring, but Ian gives us inside, and how. It knows how to ignite the platea.Pesca abundantly from 'Stand up' (year of grace 1969), then throws it on the table suite 'Thick as a brick', a spectacular version of 'Mother Goose', 'Cross eyed Mary' take off breath, the pimp 'Too old to rock and roll too young to die', 'Nothing is easy', 'Sweet Dream', 'Bouree'. Curiously unearths something from 'A passion play', the work of the most discussed of the 70's, but to close it safe: 'Aqualung' and as a 'Locomotive Breath'. Ian ages well, with irony and humor.

Excelente Remy! The future is always bright with TULL in sight
"My music is aimed at people who like the unusual, people who are bored with linear music with complex and detailed letters" he says.
The artist thinks his music is "unique" and is considered a "privileged" because in four decades "has not arisen any other rock band that has an internationally renowned flutist".
