Jethro Tull Concert Cancellation Santiago, Chile, 14th October 2015Regretfully, we have to confirm reports of the cancellation of our concert in Santiago at the Teatro Caupolican on the 14th October. I learned of this only through postings on the internet last Saturday. I have tried to contact the venue to discover the reasons for this cancellation. They have not replied to my email. Our international South American promoter tells me that the venue cancelled the concert due to a dispute with the local promoter in Santiago. An alternative venue was apparently found but I am told that the tickets could not be transferred to the new venue and the local promoter now confirms the cancellation. I have Santiago hotels booked, flights booked and I am very angry that this has happened. My apologies to the fans who have bought tickets. I am faced with thousands of dollars of costs to make alternative plans to to return to the UK as well as the loss of Artist fee. This is no way for the venue management to treat the Artist or the ticket buyers. I hope you are able to get a full refund. Again my apologies for the unspeakable lack of professionalism on the part of the management of the Teatro Caupolican. Ian Anderson, Jethro Tull

whiplash.net/materias/shows/231724-jethrotull.html [and a google translation !] Jethro Tull: Set list irreproachable in Sao PauloReview - Jethro Tull (Teatro Bradesco, São Paulo, 07/10/15) You know those bands that's so cool you are sure you will leave happy after the show? Groups that leave no doubt as to the "satisfaction guaranteed or your money back?". One is the Jethro Tull. The troupe led by boss Ian Anderson made a tremendous performance at the Teatro Bradesco proving that even with nearly fifty years down the road still has a lot breath ahead. In addition to Anderson on flute, piccolo, harmonica, guitars and voice JT brings the current lineup, David Goodier, bass, John O'Hara, keyboards, Florian Opahle, guitar and Scott Hammond, battery. I worked out this show. The weather helped, incidentally made a dog's heat, but the night was more pleasant. Upon arriving at the Theatre did the usual brodagem with the press friends. All trying to download the set list on the internet and the traditional questions about likely changes in the order of the songs. Near 9 pm calls to the public to take their seats were heard. Who knows the Teatro Bradesco know that there the audience watches the sitting spectacles, as also perform plays and other events as MPB shows. The great cheap an event involving a veteran band like Jethro is bringing together fans of all generations. Really very cool it. As all were seeking their place popped selfies, group photos and a lot of clicks on the stage where a huge screen showing a beautiful Rye. With an almost British punctuality, five minutes after the scheduled time, the presentation began. Lights went out and an insane video sequence with TV news anchors from various countries were shown on the big screen. The band came gradually cheered by the crowd to show the play "The Rock Opera" that is touring some cities of Brazil. What we saw was that complex sound of the band, an intricate range of styles such as blues rock, classical music, folk, jazz, hard rock and art. "The Rock Opera" has its peculiarities: almost operatic structure and virtual guests with appearances on the big screen. A sequence of virtual duets between Anderson and his guests, very good by the way. The songs are interpreted by different singers, but with a common appearance. One of them looks like Harry Potter university, studying chemistry, the other is a peasant, while one of the singers is the girl herself of the National Journal time. But all interpreted with great competence. They opened with "Heavy Horses" and "Wind-Up". The classic "Aqualung", one of the best known songs of the guys was soon the third, to the delight of fans. No frills and no conversation with the audience the band detonated a song after another, alternating hits and news. Among the new songs worth mentioning "Stick, Twist, Bust ', with a beautiful riff Florian Opahle, who also sent ultra competent soils. The whole group is material, but the guy is Ian Anderson as a conductor has the guys at hand. One of the highlights is the duel between flute and guitar. Really exciting. After "Song From The Woods" a stop of 15 minutes for audience and band regain his breath. On the way back the quintet had the new "And The World Feeds Me" and more a series of great songs. The heady "Locomotive Breath" closed the show. The band left the stage and returned shortly after for an encore in style. Sent "Requiem and Fugue" perfect combination of rock with classical music of Bach. A grand finale for a set list flawless. The band said goodbye and even without exchanging a word with the audience Ian Anderson and Jethro Tull did a show that left everyone satisfied. Thanks a lot. SET LIST Set 1 Heavy Horses Wind-Up Aqualung With You There To Help Me Back To The Family Farm On The Freeway Prosperous Pasture Fruits on Frankenfild Songs From The Wood Set 2 And The World Feeds Me Living In The Past Jack-In-The-Green The Witche's Promise Weather Rock Stick, Twist, Bust Cheap Day Return A New Day Yesterday The Turnstile Gate Locomotive Breath Requiem and Fugue

divirta-se.uai.com.br/Ian Anderson brings Opera Rock Jethro Tull to Belo HorizonteOn the road since 1967, musician continues to present shows around the world with a group that refers to a rock icon Mariana Peixoto Published: 09/10/2015 08:58Ian Anderson is 68 years. There are 47 leads the Jethro Tull. The long-lived British formation has had 26 musicians, all working with the multi-instrumentalist, who managed to make the flute became reference in heavy rock. For today there are those who believe he is called Jethro Tull. The such name, suggested by the producer of the band in February 1968, belongs to an English farmer, considered one of the fathers of the so-called scientific agriculture. Jethro Tull lived between the 17th and 18th centuries, during the Industrial Revolution. It was time for the band to pay the due honors. It is the edge of a rock opera that Ian Anderson arrives on Saturday in Belo Horizonte for two performances at the Palace of Arts, the second on Sunday. Little is known about Jethro Tull, the farmer. What Anderson did was create a narrative that places the life of the character in the contemporary perspective, with all the problems of the world globalized:. Overpopulation, food shortages and diseases But for the fans that are watching it with the band that accompanies it in recent years - Ian and five on stage, three musicians taking part in video - what matters is that this whole story comes to color anthological songs. Aqualung, Living in the past, The witch's promise and Locomotive breath are all there. The rock opera Jethro Tull grows on a small farm in the English countryside. Fond of agriculture and music, it, by decision of the parents goes to Oxford to study law. With fragile health, he married Susannah. Already lawyer, travels through France and Italy, learning about farming methods of those countries. To find that his father sold the farm for the construction of a road, decides to change his life and study bioengineering. Want to create new harvesting methods. Risks everything by investing in small-scale production. Later, it becomes an important government scientist working with genetically modified crops. It engages with the private sector agribusiness. The technology developed by Jethro helps feed the developing world. The richness and success, however, are unsatisfactory. Jethro abandons everything to go back to being a small farmer who uses traditional methods. , Is however faced with a dilemma: to continue with the production as a hobby or bet on modern agricultural technologies? Ends up deciding for the second option and back in business. . He died in 2041 and is buried outside the church where a few years earlier had attended the premiere of his first composition JETHRO TULL - IAN ANDERSON OPERA ROCK Saturday at 21h and Sunday at 19h, in the Palace of Arts, Avenida Afonso Pena, 1537, Centro, (31) 3236 to 7400. Tickets: Stalls 1 - R $ 360 and R $ 180 (half); Stalls 2 - R $ 240 and R $ 120 (half); Counter - R $ 200 and R $ 100 (half). Four questions to ... Ian Anderson musician The title of the show is Jethro Tull - Ian Anderson Rock Opera. The Tull Jethro as a band does not exist anymore?I like to include my name because today there are people who think I'm Jethro Tull. I would like to tell others what is the name that is on my passport. As for the title, I put "rock opera" because I have not found another way to describe the show with songs and storytelling. The term is old, refers to the time of Tommy (the legendary rock opera by The Who released in 1969). In a way, this show is more theatrical than actually a rock opera. Over the decades, the Jethro Tull had 26 members. How is it working with so many different people? Am I Number 1, then in fact they are 27. In this long history, there were musicians who were only a few months, others years. I see myself as a bandleader in folk tradition as John Mayall, Frank Zappa, BB King, James Brown. I am the guy who is in the middle, which receives much applause as the insults, if things do not work out. I am responsible for things to happen: composer, producer and travel agent. My favorite work, by the way, is to organize tours, hotels score ... Have you ever been to Brazil several times. It has something to do with the country? I feel a very strong connection with Brazil, Argentina, India, Russia, from where I returned earlier. I think the impact of the rock too helped change society. The beginning of my career was at a crucial time. From 1965 to 1975 there were many changes in Britain and the United States. Racial issues, equality of women. Later gay rights. Only that changes do not happen simultaneously worldwide, but gradually in South America, India and even Russia. Today the government Putin can be against gays, but no longer send anyone to jail. There are still countries with draconian punishments for people who do not fit the idea that they have control. I am proud to be a generation that really helped the world in terms of expression and freedom. Finally, an infamous question: are you too old to rock and roll? I'm too old for a number of things. You will not see me headbanging on stage. I will not drive a Ferrari at high speed. On the other hand, there musicians who have a long career. And it was one of the main reasons for having become a musician. My heroes as a teenager, had not 20 years. Were 50, 60, 70. I've always heard older guys and when I became a professional musician, I understood that this is a profession for life. If you practice every day, pay attention to health, will make a good stage performance with 50, 60 years. I'm lucky, I still have a good year stage. I just can not want to jump on stage to young, athletic look. Thank God I'm not in the middle of the classical ballet.

www.newjerseystage.com/Ian Anderson On Jethro Tull, The Rock OperaBy Danny Coleman www.newjerseystage.com/articles/getarticle.php?ID=6162“Our agent at the time was a history graduate, we were dithering about searching for band names and he suggested it and I was sort of like; yeah, well, OK. Then it dawned on me; we’re named after a dead guy,” explained founding member and music icon Ian Anderson with a laugh on how legendary rock band Jethro Tull got their name from an English agricultural pioneer that helped bring about the British Agricultural Revolution. “So let that be a lesson to you children; pay attention in history class!” The year was 1968 and Jethro Tull was on itsway to becoming an emerging force to be reckoned with in what was becoming the post Beatles era of rock music. Album oriented rock and roll had begun to dominate radio airwaves and harder, more heavy concept records were lining record store shelves. Every band was unique in its own way; from the album packaging and art to on and off stage gimmicks or antics. Music was changing and Jethro Tull was an integral part of it. Anderson, the front man and face of the band is widely credited with introducing the flute into rock music. Helping to launch an entire trend into the genre, Anderson blazed a trail with his use of this wind instrument. Now more than four decades later, 30 studio and live albums and more than 60 million records sold worldwide, Anderson is bringing his first “quasi rock opera” to the masses. Tickets are now on sale for “Jethro Tull, The Rock Opera,” which premieres at the Chicago Theater in Chicago,IL on November 1 and ends in Newark, NJ on November 11 at the New Jersey Performing Arts Center (NJPAC). “All these years later, I wanted to find something about him. I discovered that whether by fate or accident, many songs that I’ve written coincide with his life or career. I didn’t know at the time I wrote it that a song such as ‘Aqualung’ could actually relate to his bronchial disorder but it is all quite similar and there are quite a few of the songs that are like this. So I assembled them all together into this sort of an opera style show,” explained Anderson. The rock opera named after Jethro Tull reimagines the man in the near future with the story illustrated via songs from the band’s repertoire. “Heavy Horses,” “Farm On The Freeway,” “Songs From The Wood,” “Aqualung,” “Living In The Past,” “Wind-Up,” “A New Day Yesterday,” “The Witch’s Promise,” “Locomotive Breath” and many other classic songs from the Tull collection will be part of this undertaking; some modified a bit to “fit the bill,” he explained. “What I did was bring them up to speed to reflect a modern day chemist who is trying to feed the planet; a very hungry planet. Other than obvious cosmetic changes and a few pronoun changes; I’ve done very little in the way of changing the material. Those who come to the show are going to hear approximately 20 songs from the best of the Jethro Tull repertoire and they’ll all be relevant to the show and what I am trying to do; so obviously there will be no ‘Bungle In the Jungle,’ Anderson said with a slight laugh. Also included in this presentation will be some new material and some “virtual guests” as well. “I’m using the original lyrics for the most part and incorporating them in a theatrical, multi-media event. The virtual guests will be on a large screen and will interject at precise moments to help tell the story.” This series of eight shows in November are just the start of something much bigger to prepare the band for touring in 2016. “We are scheduling more in 2016 after Easter. In September we will take it to the west coast of the U.S. and shows in Europe as well.” Anderson once said, ”A band to me is whomever is in the room at the time.” Well, this tour features a new band, a new show and a few history lessons as well and tickets are on sale now. Jethro Tull with Ian Anderson Wed, November 11 at 7:30pm New Jersey Performing Arts Center 1 Center Street, Newark, NJ

www.adnkronos.com/Jethro Tull: three dates in Italy with The Rock Opera in late NovemberDirect link to article(Photo Infophoto)Posted on: 22/10/2015 13:01"Come and see Jethro Tull, The Rock Opera". This is the invitation of the pioneer of progressive rock and leader of Jethro Tull, Ian Anderson, who returns with his band in a new musical adventure: a new tour that will visit Italy for three unmissable dates: Nov. 29 in Bologna (Auditorium Manzoni), 30 in Turin (Teatro Coliseum) and December 1 in Bergamo (Theatre Creberg). The new live "Jethro Tull - The Rock Opera" honors the history and life of the agronomist and inventor English Jethro Tull, from which the band took inspiration in 1968, imagine here in the near future. The performance has a structure almost lyrical, and will be illustrated by the most popular songs of the repertoire of Jethro Tull. Heavy Horses, Farm On The Freeway, Songs From The Wood joined by Aqualung, Living In The Past, Wind-Up, A New Day Yesterday, The Witch's Promise, Locomotive Breath and other songs of the most famous, often with texts slightly revised to harmonize the elements of the story. A unique tribute and a review of the historical parts of Jethro Tull with new video and some "special effects" for non-English speakers. An unmissable opportunity for the many fans of progressive rock to witness a new amazing show of legendary Ian Anderson, the man who popularized the flute in the rock world. After more than 65 million records sold and 4,000 concerts in 54 countries with Jethro Tull, Anderson continues to attract audiences around the world and to walk the amazing stages of a creative and on. Along with the band leader Ian Anderson on stage there will be David Goodier on bass, John O'Hara on keyboards, Florian Opahle on guitar, Scott Hammond on drums and some "special guests" in the virtual screen. The tour started from the UK, to continue in Russia and South America.
