Jethro Tull Chronicles 1967-1978, by rock author Laura Shenton, will be published by Wymer Publishing on March 25. The 256 page A4 hardback book chronicles Jethro Tull’s career from the outset to the end of the seventies. From the late sixties — a vital period where the group dynamics were established, featuring vintage gig and album reviews, contemporary quotes from band members, rare advertisements documenting how they were billed alongside their peers. With 140,000 words of text, Jethro Tull Chronicles 1967-1978 also boasts "countless photos, many of them previously unpublished." Shenton is the author of previous books about Kate Bush, Curved Air, Tommy Bolin, Supertramp, Deep Purple, ELP and more. Cavaliers and . . . country yokel? The second one appears to have a bit of Native American? Nice fringeing

I think they're taking a VERY Cavalier attitude to the whole photo shoot!

I am tempted to buy the 'Heavy Horses', 'Minstrel In The Gallery', and 'Thick As A Brick' books. Are they worth getting hold of?

Over the years I've bought most of the Tull books I could find ,and have yet to find any that completely hit the spot. Some are little more than a collection of press articles cobbled together, or the author either forces his/her opinion on us or weaves themselves into the narrative.Even "Minstrels in the Gallery" by the long time editor of the Tull magazine Dave Rees cant resist spoiling itself by waving the backstage pass in our faces. As discussed earlier even the "official" , "Ballad of Jethro Tull " is somewhat of a whitewash.
The modest little book "Pocket essentials, Jethro Tull" by Raymond Benson is quite a pleasant little read and avoids most of the pitfalls , though its more of an introduction to the band really.
One to really avoid "On track: Jethro Tull , Every album every song" by Jordan Blum. I hate this with a passion. Overblown, egotistical pretentious, and inaccurate.
There is still room for the Ultimate Jethro Tull book.
