I wonder if Parritt was ever in a situation in his travels where he met some argumentative, acidic types and told them to "suck a Tums, gentlemen, the air needs refreshing! Regular strength or new 1000mg in Peppermint, for that hard to reach nirvana, which, here in the 1580's, we hope never becomes the name of a snotty band of drug-popping teenage itinerants!"

Or maybe he met one of English history's most self centred and self serving characters Matthew Hopkins, Witchfinder General. Seems rather an apt person for Parritt to meet considering the nature of Hopkins and his self appointed duty to rid the nation of witches. thecargoculte.com/

Hanging for witchcraft. Who gave the Puritans the microphone, anyway? 100% inappropriate, I say! Tales from the Frontier, is a book of marvels.

Jim, this is a thread celebrating and discussing the announcement of a new album and a recently confirmed album cover--this is exciting for all Tull fans--nobody wants to hear about your year-old grudges in the midst of it. Tullist, for god's if you want to rant at Jim keep it to PMs, don't hijack a perfectly good thread, and stop trying to intimidate and threaten people over the internet, it makes it hard to take you seriously, and it makes crappy conversation. Seriously guys, please stop or keep it to PMs Volcanoes or towns burning down. Or tarsands train derailments exploding, got lots of those going on. I saw on a Facebook Tull update that for sure that's the album cover. Good choice. How will it tie into the songs? This, for the St. Cleve Chronicle, became the question. Perhaps this album will have a touch of the moody pessimism some of the 1970/80s Tull releases had. Perhaps all this time we were chatting about TAAB3 or Passion Play 2, and Ian brews up a sequel to Stormwatch--post apocalypse--after the Dark Ages... Either way, when Ian Anderson releases an album, all Tull fans win.

I think we're in for a couple hundred years of big adjustments, not a "storm" style event that leaves us to get back to normal after we remove some downed branches. In that case, lots to deal with that don't necessarily call for pessimism, and the range of emotions will be peaked around the globe. Good days to reach out to help good causes.

Go ahead Jim. Run your mouth. Shake that rapidly developing gizzard for me like a nice boy. basically i understand one of us is going to have to go. and by current behavioral standards i realize that is likely me, even though i have built up a type of good will over years with the mods. believe me, i ain't looking for any black oak arkansas/moody blues/elp/jethro tull pervert approval. yes. do tell me all about rock and roll. it would appear you have not been properly introduced. until you, or i, am extinguished, make sure not to address me. understand my name to be inferno. and a damned righteous one at that. NEVER ADDRESS ME. I stop by for the first time in a few months to talk about a new album, and I find a cyber-bully taunting a thread. What the hell has become of Tull fandom? One guy who I thought had more common sense and was a friend at one time is allegedly trolling the other Tull site, and Tullist here is exhibiting a false machismo I haven't seen or heard since I had to beat some guys ass in a Detroit bar in the 1990s. "Oooh, I'm dangerous! I'm crazy! You don't want to mess with me!" Stop it. It is damn silly. No, it's downright embarrassing. We are talking about an album or a band or an individual performer. We are mostly all old bastards. This isn't some frickin' Justin Bieber or Harry Potter site with hormonally-imbalanced teenagers. With that out of the way, I am far more excited about the current Ian Anderson project than I was about TAAB2 (which I thought was substandard Tull but fine as a solo project), and I am glad Ian has dropped the whole "Jethro Tull" pretense on the album cover, which is very strong graphically, and doesn't require an "Ian Anderson of Jethro Tull" sticker to muck up the presentation. The former lives to be recounted (Neolithic wanderer, Iron Age blacksmith, medieval monk, etc.) seem suited for some acoustic sets, which I am hoping for, as there wasn't enough of that on TAAB2. I have always preferred Ian's acoustic to his flute, to be honest. Anyway, hello again everyone. Let's drop the drama.

Precisely, Morthoron, those who wish to convert their lack of self-control to text need apply elsewhere. As for hopes for H.E., I like your ideas there. Personally, I'm up for surprises and also get the sense that this new project is going to be worth a few more high fives in the studio than TAAB2. The character list ideas suggest lots of richly detailed acoustic work, as presented by a band in 2014 with all the extras.

Hopefully this thread is now back to how it was. Apologies if I've missed any posts that should have been moved to "Homo Erraticus - the hijacked thread" or if I've moved posts which could have been left where they were.
Flag them up as a PM to me and I'll sort it out.
Thanks

Now where were we - oh yes, the new album It'll be more than interesting to see if the official site post clips from the album nearer to the release date as they did with TAAB2. Think I'd rather wait to hear it in full when I eventually get a copy although I suspect that when IA starts the rounds of promotional radio interviews that some of the new songs will creep out. A personal choice I agree, but there is just something about listening to a new album without too many pre-conceived ideas about what the musical content will be.

My personal preference too, Graham. I'd just much rather discover the new album in one listen. I'm sure samples will be posted though. I shall try and avoid listening to samples and almost certainly fail.
The title and album cover are undoubtedly the most striking/thought provoking yet from Ian Anderson. 'Homo Erraticus' has attitude stamped all over. We might be talking Aqualung attitude x 10 here. I'm not expecting something wistful, although amidst the "heavier" sound there may well be some lighter moments. We can only speculate. Who knows?
Florian Ophale is an outstanding guitarist - I think we can most definitely expect to hear some blistering/searing playing in the guitar department.
Ian Anderson's flute playing has always been evolving and moving into new territory. I can't wait to hear what sounds/melodies/rhythmic pulses of air energy the man has recorded this time.
Hope we get a track-listing soon. Would love to know the song titles.

Release date is soon enough, I'd also rather not have pre-release segments of it but the whole project to experience at once, because it seems from the info and image we have, that there's a unifying storyboard for this project. Listening to just one bit would be like looking at a photo of someone in the snow in closeup. Are they on the top of Everest or in an ice cave? Are they building a snowman on their front lawn? Are they out watching polar bears in Churchill, Manitoba? Are they Twittering an image because they're locked in an ice freezer and need to get out before they suffocate?
If the project has any artistic elements, we deserve to have access to what the artist wants to deliver. I don't eat at McDonalds and I don't want to order a small box of McTull fries. I mean, they don't build nuclear bombs that take 14 weeks to explode once triggered, they wouldn't make an impact. If the artist wants to deliver impact, set up the system to deliver impact!

I was actually thinking the opposite given he said the album would be more rock/Folk/ Metal. "...and I have had the fun and frolics of setting all to music of Folk-Rock-Metal stylings. But you can call it Prog..." Ian Anderson JTull.com Neolithic Prog Metal - seriously.

I just like the sound of it... and to me it's another way of saying Ironclad, or feather feat... Jethro Tull forever!!

Good point...the whole martin in/martin out is it Tull/ is it Ian question has gotten old....old as the average age of the mods, I'm afraid. thank God Ian Anderson is still making music....which, as far as I'm concerned...is one and the same as 'Jethro Tull'.....and I am enough of a Tull fan to give serious consideration to music made by anyone else who has ever played with ian, brief or 40 plus years...and am glad martin barre is still making music and extra glad some of his music is reworked Tull. What haven't we said about Tull/ian what ian said in 1987 etc etc ( what did you say in 1987 that has been modified since ?) ? From www.939bobfm.com/Music/Artist.aspx?id=44859As the lead guitarist for Jethro Tull, Martin Barre has been joined at the hip to Ian Anderson since 1969, when he replaced Mick Abrahams in the group's lineup. His playing has provided much of the energy that allows the band to soar on record and in concert amid the beauty of Anderson's melodies and the complexity of his lyrics, and played no small part in helping the veteran band (some would say "dinosaur") win the 1988 Grammy for Best Hard Rock Album for Crest of a Knave. Anderson himself has been quoted as saying, "Without Martin Barre, Jethro Tull could not exist."

Thanks Graham for all of the updates. I like the album cover. I hope this album is successful...and rocks with electricity. Feel the power... Save the acoustic guitar for the next time. Cheers to the fab Forum 5.1 mix by Jakko Jakszyk. www.quadraphonicquad.com/forums/showthread.php?18641-Ian-Anderson-Homo-ErraticusI'd venture to guess that if anyone can mix this album well (besides Mr Wilson) it's Jakko. He's doing some ELP and King Crimson surround mixing as well. We're lucky to have both him and Steven doing these mixes for us. - rtbluray RIGHT ON!

Maybe Ian really does run the show and Erratic behavior on the forum simply confirms his thumb on the zeitgeist ? I'm sensing a bit of 'dark, dark, dark' in the pipelie: mortality, futility and, above all, hostroy tragically repeating....not quite 'Fresh start on Mulberry street' this time? 'What ifs, maybes and might have beens' evolving to 'tough sh:::ts, deal with its and it was ever thuses'?

I wasn't going to listen to any "teasers" or "clips" until I got my gnarled and wrinkled mitts on the album but then I thought, "oh bu99er that for a game of soldiers" The possibility of hearing small samples on these 'Teasers' is quite likely now. I felt some anxiety about the way TAAB 2 was released after the songs were available
on Facebook back in 2012. That's the main reason I even joined Facebook back then.
When I got the first listen at home, it was so much better. Then came the cruise factor when I drove around the countryside whilst playing the cd. That's when you know it's worth having. Kinda like Wayne's World.
