Actually lost my spectacles yesterday and had to dig out spare pair...which i took as a sign to listen to APP on the way to and from work....and ended up with a question for those of us in the APP club...so...If APP is to Tull, as Tull is to other bands...what PART of APP is the next step? What is the cream of the cream of the cream? My first thought was, of course, the Overseer Overture...perhaps the best few minutes of music ever written, recorded and performed...but I had to also give some consideration to the first 3 minutes at the very beginning...because of the flute...no...it's the Overseer Overture...that's the peak, amongst the peaks of the mountain range...am I wrong? I'll admit there are lot's of worthy other parts to be considered.
And P.S....I have listened to APP thousands of times...and the outtakes on 20 year and Nightcap hundreds...and I still claim to hear something new every time...today is the first time I ever noticed the musical connection between 'Well I'm all for leaving and that being done' and 'Scenario'.
God I love that album. What would my life be like without 'A Passion Play'?

I mean. seriously, 'Now you're here you may as well admire, all whom living has retired, from the benign reconciliation.'
Is there ever a time, when you put on APP and after a few minutes think, 'nah, I'm not in the mood for this' or 'Why did i do that. I just heard this not long ago...'

Never with APP or many others including Benefit, MITG, HH . . . oh the list is seemingly endless. But coming back to APP, "There was a rush along the Fulham Road" always get the goose bumps going.

'A Passion Play' is in my top 3 Tull albums, it may even be number one. I just hope before I snuff it Ian will do us all a favour and perform this classic again. As my signature suggests, this is my goose bump piece........
And who comes here to wish me well? A sweetly-scented angel fell, She laid her head upon my disbelief, And bathed me with her ever-smile.

A Passion Play is definately in my top 1 Jethro Tull albums! Plenty of goose bumps along the way. Agree with Steel, Overseer is phenomenally good. This gets me going as well...... All along now.... All of your best friends' telephones never cooled from the heat of your hand. from your hand..... There's a line in a front-page story, 13 horses that also-ran. also ran..... Climb in your old umbrella. Does it have a nasty tear in the dome? in the dome..... But the rain only gets in sometimes and the sun never leaves you alone, you alone..... Etc Etc Onefriendlyduck

Something old and something new. A beautiful banner from the 1993 Convention in Melville, New York. This image was taken one year later at Hofstra University on Long Island, New York Tull Convention. I will try to locate the original artist for recognition which is well deserved.

I have the happy/sad as a tattoo with 'TULL' on my left, upper arm...showed it to Ian in 1989, in Europe and he told me real fans get penile tattoos and to report to Kenny Wylie ASAP.

A Passion Play/Benefit updates. © 2013. The Jethro Tull Forum
The Benefit remix is now due for release in October 2013 (probably a digipack with extensive sleeve notes etc), and the Chateau/APP package will be released in 2014.
The delay has been due to recent record company changes.
The latter package will include an extra 10 minutes of Chateau stuff, all without the 1990s added flute, while the APP remix will have Steven Wilson either following or ignoring IA's suggestion to leave some instruments out to make it sound less dense and complex. More info, including IA's reappraisal of APP, will be in a major Record Collector feature later this summer.
