Start the day with a full English breakfast then a few beers at lunchtime and then fish and chips for supper. Seems like a good scheme to me ;D www.bbc.co.uk/religion/religions/christianity/saints/george_1.shtmlSt George is patron saint not only of England but also of Aragon, Catalonia, Georgia, Lithuania, Palestine, Portugal, Germany and Greece; and of Moscow, Istanbul, Genoa and Venice (second to Saint Mark). He's also patron saint of soldiers, archers, cavalry and chivalry, farmers and field workers, riders and saddlers, and he helps those suffering from leprosy, plague and syphilis.

Seems like a good scheme to me ;D en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Saint_George's_Day Happy St Georges Day to all my English friends. I missed the full English - had marmite on toast and a cup of tea. You do like to share him around a lot.......... Many Patronages of Saint George exist around the world, including: Georgia, England, Egypt, Bulgaria, Aragon, Catalonia, Romania, Ethiopia, Greece, India, Iraq, Israel, Lithuania, Portugal, Serbia, Ukraine and Russia, as well as the cities of Genoa, Amersfoort, Beirut, Botoºani, Drobeta Turnu-Severin, Timiºoara, Fakiha, Bteghrine, Cáceres, Ferrara, Freiburg im Breisgau, Kragujevac, Kumanovo, Lebanon, Ljubljana, Pérouges, Pomorie, Preston, Qormi, Rio de Janeiro, Lod, Lviv, Barcelona, Moscow and Victoria. Perhaps with current government policy we could privatise St David and you could have him on lease for 99 years!! Anyway have a great day and I look forward to visiting your capital on 30th June to see some guy called Ian Anderson Cheers Onewhyisn'twalesontheunionflagduck!!

Something to do with Wales being a Principality hence you've got Charles as a Prince - so I've been told. Anyway we'll speak later about meeting up at the RAH in June and in the meantime, if Scotland decide to stay as part of the Union, reckon we could have this as the new national flag. Attachments:

Now I've got something new to celebrate. ;D This reminds me of the Renaissance Festivals. Do I need a Broadsword for this? I've never been to the U.K., but I love the great stories of those days.

I heard tghere were no more dragons left in the U.K.....Russell Brand chased them... Plenty of Dragons in Wales I got one in my shed. The earliest mention of the red dragon is In the Mabinogion, when the red dragon fights with an invading White Dragon. His pained shrieks cause women to miscarry, animals to perish and plants to become barren. Lludd, king of Britain, dug a pit in the centre of Britain, filled it with mead, and covered it with cloth. The dragons drink the mead and fall asleep. Lludd imprisons them, still wrapped in their cloth, in Dinas Emrys in Snowdonia. Legend then has it that the dragons remain at Dinas Emrys for centuries until King Vortigern tries to build a castle there, which falls down every night. Vortigern’s advisers, who tell him to find a boy with no natural father, and sacrifice him. Vortigern finds such a boy who dismisses the knowledge of the advisors telling the king of the two dragons. Vortigern frees the dragons, who continue their fight and the red dragon finally defeats the white dragon.

It's bad and I feel ashamed but I know absolutely zilch about Welsh mythology unless you've made all that up and in that case I'd give Peter Jackson a call

I'll bring the Cornish magic pasties.

From wikipedia: Countries that celebrate St George's Day include Bosnia and Herzegovina, Bulgaria, Canada, Croatia, Cyprus, England, Georgia, Greece, Macedonia, Romania, and Serbia. Cities include Genoa in Italy, Beirut in Lebanon, Qormi and Victoria in Malta, Moscow in Russia, Ljubljana in Slovenia, Rio de Janeiro in Brazil and many others. It is also celebrated in the old Crown of Aragon in Spain — Aragon, Catalonia, Valencia, and Majorca. And I do hope it's the day when Homo Erraticus finally reaches Bernie and everyone else who hasn't got their copy yet."There is a forgotten, nay almost forbidden word, which means more to me than any other. That word is England." Sir Winston Churchill

Saint George is the patron saint of England and is remembered for his bravery. But he wasn't actually English - nor did he slay a dragon. St George was born in Turkey in the third century to Christian parents ( The Mirror 23rd April )
Wonder if the loonies of UKIP* think ( if they are intelligent to know ) about Johnny Foreigner being the patron saint.
As IA puts it 'we all come from somewhere else' so get over it. My father was born in Paddington and got Scottish somewhere in him down the 'Lewis' line. On my mothers side we have quite a lot family who live around Borehamwood and Hatfield.
Anyway HAPPY ST GEORGES DAY TO ALL MY ENGLISH FRIENDS from this side of Offas Dyke ( have a google )
Cheers

The Government will announce on Thursday that the Cornish are joining the Scots, Welsh and Irish as official members of the UK’s Celtic minorities. ( The Independent 24/4/2014 ).
Hey Graham, pass us the pastie will you.
No room on the Union Flag tho. ( Just for the English, Scottish and Irish )

"And you, good yeoman, Whose limbs were made in England, show us here The mettle of your pasture; let us swear That you are worth your breeding; which I doubt not; For there is none of you so mean and base, That hath not noble lustre in your eyes. I see you stand like greyhounds in the slips, Straining upon the start. The game's afoot: Follow your spirit, and upon this charge Cry 'God for Harry, England, and Saint George!"
