what fantastic news! and the release is just 2 months away.
Can anyone comment on how much of Bursting Out was recorded in Berne 28th May 1978? In other words, how much of these new live CDs are just remastered Bursting Out? I seem to recall that the tracks on Bursting Out were "the best of" a number of different shows recorded in the first half of 1978. If anyone knows please tell, thanks!

www.miusyk.com/jethro-tull-heavy-horses-new-shoes-edition-venta-9-febrero-2018.html[ A Google translation] Jethro Tull, Heavy Horses New Shoes Edition on sale on February 9, 2018The reissue of Heavy Horses will be published next February 9th . We gloss the content and analyze what this new installment of a classic of the group holds. The disc served to confirm that Jethro Tull were in the top of the world and so that the best formation of the band began to crack. While Ian Anderson's first voice problems were already intuitive in the original mix, it was not too good and is possibly one of the loosest albums, as far as production is concerned, of the band's discography. Wilson has remastered all the content and is expected to re-hit. Translated it turns out that the content will be the disc we were talking about and Bursting Out , the legendary double work live, with a cleaner sound, ordered correctly and, above all, in the corresponding order. The added video clips have their point although they do not add anything new that we did not know. We think that the main attraction of this reissue is how they have cleaned the sound of the aforementioned discs and what we can expect, at the level of sound nuances, of them. We open the lines of debate so that you can comment on what seems most appropriate in this regard.

When you read that SW has "remastered" the album, you know how seriously you can take that review...

When Songs From The Wood came out, I was thrown for a loop, as I was thrown for a loop when Sgt. Peppers was issued from "The Beatles". SFTW was one of the best things I'd ever heard, and then comes Heavy Horses, more earthy and drawn from real-life characters large and small with music just as finely created and extravagantly realized as SFTW. Bursting Out did a fantastic job of illustrating the "live performance" aspect of Tull, with a great selection of songs and quite excellent sound quality, which is always at risk in live concert venue recordings if the audience has showed up. Bravo to Heavy Horses being reissued with the remix effort, the album is amazing, it's ear medicine, it's musical ginseng, it's admired well beyond the usual "Tull" fan base and should be getting great coverage and airplay. I may buy extra copies to send to radio stations to assure people catch on to this.

The cover of the New Shoes Edition has the lyric "A Heavy Horse and a trembling sky" — but the original album has "tumbling".
A revision? Surely not. A typo, or mishearing? I'm going for the latter. Remember 'Dobly' on the Passion Play 5.1set?! Is it too late to change this one?

Well spotted Schubert, I guess it´s a genuine confusion. I didn´t remember about the "Dobly" in APP, but I do remember the "2104 the copyright is owned". If they didn´t change the latter, don´t think will change that trembling sky.

If they didn´t change the latter, don´t think will change that trembling sky. 2018 marks 50 years since progressive folk-rock band Jethro Tull jumped onto the British music scene. To kick off this exciting anniversary year, we present you with the 40th anniversary ‘New Shoes Edition’ of Heavy Horses, a 3CD/ 2DVD boxset released by Parlophone Records. This edition will feature the original album, plus additional studio recordings, live material and an extensive new booklet.
Released between Songs From The Wood (1977) and Stormwatch (1979), Heavy Horses was the second of a trilogy of folk rock albums from Jethro Tull. Lead singer and flautist Ian Anderson explained its particular focus on horses and agricultural life saying, “As a child, my big passion was to get off the leash and explore the local wooded and leafy suburbs. So it didn’t suddenly become new in 1977, it was just that the subject matter fitted what I wanted to write about at the time.”
Upon release, Heavy Horses was a top 20 album on both sides of the Atlantic. Commercial success was met equally with critical praise for its melodies, instrumentation and Anderson’s signature flute playing. More recently, critics have described the album as “daring, experimental, literate, and often thrilling”, and a “testament to the men who made it”.
This anniversary edition features the original album with nine additional bonus tracks, seven of which are previously unreleased. The ‘New Shoes Edition’ also contains a live concert from May 1978, and two DVDs which feature the original, bonus and live tracks all mixed to surround sound by Steven Wilson and Jakko Jakszyk. A 96-page booklet covers a history of the album and corresponding tour, complete lyrics, rare photos and exclusive interviews.

Ouch! A bad typo. Wonder if anyone involved in the project is on this board ....
Who knew there was a 1978 recording of Jack-a-Lynn? Wonder if it's an acoustic-only version or the mix of acoustic & full band as per the 1982 version.

Font trivia -- HH features Abbott Oldstyle, also used on George Harrison's album 'All Things Must Pass' ... A font designed by Joseph Warren Phinney, 1848-1934, an American working out of Boston ... who also designed Cloister Black, the font used on the back cover of Aqualung ... and thousands of other places, since it's become the default Gothic font. luc.devroye.org/fonts-33032.htmlThree cheers for the industrious Mr Phinney. It might be that it has still not gotten to the printing stage and it can be fixed.

Ouch! A bad typo. Wonder if anyone involved in the project is on this board .... Ah yes . . . TUMBLEGATE. The people responsible should be dismissed immediately I can only think of one person who is directly involved in this project and who is a member here, other than that anyone else should be hung, drawn and quartered. Btw Andrew, your Tullpress site is down.

Checking the typos is not his responsability. The former member of this Forum who you are referring to is not, I repeat not, the person I was thinking of. That person knows my feelings about his contribution to all the releases and as a matter of fact I was one of the people who recommended him originally for that particular job. It's a shame he's no longer here but it's a free world and he has chosen where he wishes to be now. I hope he's happy where he is.

A Someone else who appreciates a good type face. Gone are the days of Letraset and Linotype catalogues which in one of my early jobs was part and parcel of the business. One of my favourites is Sabon designed by Jan Tschichold

Exciting news. Never expected heavy horses to have almost 2 albums worth. I bet they are awesome. Stormwatch might have a full double album worth. We already have broadford, blues instrumental, crossword, kelpie, king Henry, stitch in time. That’s 6 already

And we know a masterpiece called 'Apocalypse' is lurking. Dee Palmer performed it at a Tull convention.

Stormwatch will round up the series in fine style. Even great style if they include any of the soundboards from 79/80 as the live extra.

There is a bit of confusion regarding release date as for now. Burningshed, the official store says march 2nd. Yet most of other retailers say february 9. We will hae to be patient and wait for confirmation. Offical news from the JT official site and facebook sites have retained the original release date too.

Yep, I've finally had word from Amazon that the release date has been altered. They had the old February date online up till now. "Unfortunately, the release date for the item(s) listed below was changed by the supplier, and we need to provide you with a new estimated delivery date based on the new release date: Jethro Tull "Heavy Horses (New Shoes Edition)" Estimated arrival date: March 06 2018" Etc. Ah well, it will be better in the long run. Otherwise we'd have a thread lamenting the 'trembling sky' mistake all to itself, newbies thinking they're the first to spot it etc. in perpetuity. They can keep 'Dobly' on the Passion Play box set tho', I like that one.
