Any Clannad fans on here? I went to see them last week on their 40th anniversary tour and was very impressed by their performance. Very high standard musicianship with some very good flute playing by Pol Brenan.

I was a fan in their earlier incarnation, I believe late 70's, early 80's. In the mid eighties, including at least one album with Peter Vittesse, they took on a new age aspect which I found of alot less appeal than their more traditional earlier sound. They did a beautiful version of a common Scots or Irish folk song Siull a Run, something like that, Gaelic spelling is not a specialty of mine. I would not be in the least surprised, seeing that they are up to a 40th anniversary, if they have gone back to their more original sound at least in part, (though I have heard nothing by them since the mid eighties)as bands often do, figuring out what they did best.

I really enjoy this even though I can't pronounce the words... Amazing!
Clannad are a family band composed of siblings Moya Brennan (Irish: Máire Ní Bhraonáin), Ciarán Brennan (Irish: Ciarán Ó Braonáin), Pól Brennan (Irish: Pól Ó Braonáin, who left in 1990 and rejoined in 2011) and their twin uncles Noel Duggan (Irish: Noel Ó Dúgáin) and Pádraig Duggan (Irish: Pádraig Ó Dúgáin). Their sister/niece Enya (Irish: Eithne Ní Bhraonáin) left the group in 1981 to pursue a solo career.

Peter Vetesse worked with Clannad after he left Tull, as a session musician and mainly on keyboards but he did play bass on at least one track, whether the stringed type or using the keyboard I can't be sure.

I wonder if Ian might like to invite Maire to the next gig in a cathedral?
