This is one huge box set set, some of the footage does look quite good, especially from The Dortmund Festival featuring one of the most underrated J.T. albums of all time "Broadsword & The Beast" to me it's one of their heaviest albums. The great thing, i have the track listing of all 4 dvd's!! The Isle Of Wight around 80 minutes, Dortmund 86-88 minutes,Hilversum 40 minutes, and Lugano Jazz Festival 90 minutes. I am guessing with the rest of the concerts, Tampa,Munich,Lorelei,Santiago,London,Montreux which i think we already have, so that leaves 5 perhaps full concerts and 100 minutes remaining, I would imagine Ian has selected the best out of the remaining 5. As i think B.S.A.T.B is a classic, here is the track listing, The Clasp,Fallen On Hard Times,Pussy Willow,Broadsword,Jack In The Green,Seal Driver,Heavy Horses, Keyboard/Drum Solo, Sweet Dream, Songs From The Wood,Watching Me Watching You,Pibroch,Beastie,Too Old,Cross Eyed Mary,Aqulaung,Minstral In The Gallery, Locomotive Breath, Black Sunday,Cheerio, hanging out real bad!!

That's what I'm about, alright, being totally new, new, new, discovering new music and so Jethro Tull's new DVD collection makes me feel so NEW again! I'll be able to tell my friends about this hot new band! New Songs! I'm dizzy with this hot discovery! I could BBQ chicken on this news. So cool, so cool.

I can't wait to have it. I think it will be very interesting, because first there are pieces in the last Tour, apart TaaB 2 were not carried out, plus you can see many former members of the Band, at work in an official DvD, then prepared with the blessing (!!) by King Ian First.

Definetely buying this, along with Hawkwind's 'Warrior On The Edge Of Time' boxset, don't tell the wife Seriously, this package looks great value for money, I think a lot of it has been on youtube previously, but I expect it's been 'cleaned up a bit' (that's the technical term in the music industry, involves Dettol and a wire brush apparently) Nice to see some vintage stuff on dvd, I like the new stuff but anything with Barriemore Barlow/John Evan/John Glascock on gets my vote.

I hope that the 1976 footage be from a master and not just a copy of the bootlegged file with the buzz
I have to assume that the 1980 Stormwatch footage is from a master
.... anybody know before I place an order?

And here it is. Well that's my weekend viewing sorted Just watched disc one of this release. The Tullavision/Tampa is the best quality I've seen and is worth the price of the package alone. Think the dustman can have my poxy vhs copy I've had all these years.

July 15th...50 minutes is perfect for a Tull convention. 43 minutes to listen to APP together, huddled around a boom box brought to the airport lounge and seven minutes for cell phone pictures.

Whilst waiting for Mrs.bunkerfan to buy this DVD for me I've just read this part of a comment posted on Amazon. Anyone agree?
" The Munich coverage is a bit of a shock as although it contains some great playing, the picture quality is awful and the sound gradually deteriorates to almost unlistenable (it's like a bad bootleg)! "

The Munich footage from 1980 is mainly the same as a vhs copy that I have had for some time and it was recorded "off air" by a German fan at the time. It is now the copyright of ORF - ENTERPRISE GMBH & CO KG.
It certainly betrays its age and source and is not the best quality but I for one would think that most fans would be thankful that it has survived and not been wiped as was the case with some BBC broadcasts at that time.
It contains part of the performance of the band interspersed with an interview with with IA and it shows its age and I would think is the only recording still in existence of the band at that time from this particular Bavarian TV company. The sleeve notes state:
"Eagle Vision bought the the footage as an agent for release from a German company who found all this stuff for us, and other artists."
I would guess that the above statement rather indicates that someone close to Eagle Vision has been given, or purchased, a cache of bootleg videos and instead of locking them away in a vault has, to their credit, put it on general release for us all to see. I suppose one has to wonder what other recordings they now have, both Jethro Tull and other artists of that era, that may be released in the future.

One thing about the booklet with Around The World Live that I find slightly annoying is that the images of the band are not in any chronological order whereas the text is. A minor gripe but it seems they've been inserted where they fitted best without any thought as to whether they refer to the text or not.

www.thenation.com/blog/174800/transactions-congress#axzz2WD5byk4cAnd also speaking of getting old, I recently looked over two Moody Blues DVDs. Live at the Isle of Wight 1970 and the cd/dvd Live at Montreux 1991. I was interested in the first one because I had never seen the Moodies when they were new and young. The DVD is more of a documentary than a concert though, with lots of present-day commentary about their performance there. The latter is self-explanatory and rather similar to the Red Rocks DVD that came out a few years ago, except that it’s in Montreux and comes with a CD. Even more ambitious in the old fogey department is the 4 Music DVD set from Jethro Tull, Around The World Live. Tull is always well packaged and this one comes in a nice book and is filled with previously unreleased material including the same Isle Of Wight Festival from 1970 (as in the Moodies’ show) and goes through 2005 with performances from, you guessed it, all around the world, as well as photos from Ian Anderson’s personal archive and a text on all the different shows by Joel McIver. Overall it’s about seven and a half hours of Tull. Some of it is pretty great; some of it, you really won’t mind if you sat that one out.

Well, this is a real stonker of a release & at nearly 400 minutes long it takes alot of getting through! Well worth it though as it's full of great stuff albeit some of which has been released previously - trouble is I've got so much Tull on DVD & Video I can't remember what I've already got & what I haven't!
If you want to know the detail then see the previous posts but by way of some personal comments:-
Disc 1.
Highlight - Dark Ages, it's been a long time since I heard this & had forgotten how good it is, it comes over especially well live. Lowlight - sound quality starts to deteriorate half way through the Munich set which is a shame but the picture's still ok.
Disc 2.
Highlight - "proper" versions of My God & Bouree (i.e. without the lounge jazz or God Rest Ye Merry Gentlemen!). Lowlight - Ian's strained vocals. I've got used to this now but as this DVD starts off before the problem began there's a telling contrast.
Disc 3.
Highlight - Some Day The Sun Won't Shine For You, stunning extended version. Lowlight - My Sunday Feeling is not from Leamington Spa (at least it didn't look like that when I was there) nor does it feature the original line up. Don't know what went wrong there....
Disc 4.
Highlight - Up To Me & Hymn 43, great to see them played live & well done to the cameraman who zoomed in on Martin's lead fills exactly on cue. Lowlight - None!
At around £15, depending where & when you buy it, this is outstanding value. The booklet is full of great photos & is very informative. Shame there's no footage from after 2005 but maybe that's still to come....
