The Eels are amazing. Trent Reznor is a genius/independent type...like Prince and Ian.

There's also Sky Vintage I watched Wish You Were Here the other night. I enjoyed it although it kind of reinforced my opinion on what I always thought about Walters and Gilmour too to the same extent...arrogant control freaks. I might be wrong as I don't really know them and I didn't play in pink Floyd.

Music Other Than Tull....(Surely Not?!!).....was/is a joke However it's a good point, there are tons of great new bands and albums kicking around that deserve their place along side the oldies (haven't Radiohead, Pearl Jam, and Govt Mule been around for ages too though!) The best album from last year for me (and by miles too!) was English Electric by Big Big Train. utter perfection from start to finish, I highly recommend it to those with a penchant for prog.

I like the sound of that. The vocals remind me of someone but I can't put a name to it.

French Finishing school ;D Yes! a touch of the old Sledgehammer man. A good band, as I've always said, young Col, you have fine musical taste.

I like a lot of stuff, Tommy Makem and The Clancy Brothers, Glenn Miller, Wagner and Dropkick Murphys being my current faves playing on the stereo. Though Tull is always in the rotation. The 1971 Fillmore East show being on the MP3 right now. --Ron--

Just watched a documentary about Big Bill Broonzy, what a pioneer he was. The show had comments by Keith Richards, Ray Davies, Pete Seeger and others. The BBC also broadcasted a couple of days back a sort of documentary on how blues music blossomed, a series of performances of blues music at the BBC and a quirky little program all about Seasick Steve. I guess all this available on Iplayer for a limited time, it sure makes a refreshing change from that hoary old chestnut I keep banging on about.

Got to see that programme as well - a rather fine example of what the BBC has in their archive just waiting to be plundered to show some of these young 'uns what all the fuss is/was about. A damn fine piece of broadcasting from the BBC

I enjoyed watching this programme on Channel 4 last night. Of course there was one massive band not featured.
First shown as part of Channel 4's Rock Night, and featuring contributions from Josh Homme, Andrew W.K. and Alice Cooper, this programme tells the story of how the giant bands of the 1970s changed rock - and rock-star behaviour - for ever.
These bands were the superstars of a golden age of rock but now, decades later, in the shadow of these 70s giants and in a fragmented, new, digital music industry, how has rock, and how can rock, continue to evolve?
This is a loud, funny and tongue-in-cheek journey that uses all of the greatest stories of extravagance, excess and indulgence from the world of rock, taking in huge tours and huge hair, drugs, sex, backstage demands, mythical anecdotes and budget-busting stage shows, to navigate the history of one of the world's most enduring and best-loved musical genres. 50-years-of-rock-excess-www.channel4.com/programmes/50-years-of-rock-excess/4od#3616147
